Rice Innovation Platform came in to being as a result of the amalgamation of many of the stakeholders in the rice value chain, this was encouraged through a programme supported by West African Agricultural Productivity Programme (WAAP) to improve the production of some valuable chain crops namely: Rice, Maize and Sorghum in 2014/2015 Production Season. This Programme became a telescope for the sta

keholders to see the emerging opportunities in the rice values, chain through production and processing of paddy rice and seeds in Nigeria, as the Federal Government aims to increase import substitution through promotion of local production coupled with high demand of rice for local consumption. Therefore, this gave birth to the Rice Innovation Platform where all stakeholders in the rice chain agreed to come together and join hands in the development of the rice value chain by proper analysing, prioritizing their needs, problems and finding the best way to do these. Thus, the Rice Innovation Platform towards achieving this goal outlined a clear mission and vision that will serve as a Yardstick in guiding them towards achieving a common goal.
