PRESS RELEASE

DR. BELLO A. MOHAMMED ADMITTED AS FULL MEMBER OF INSTITUTE OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT OF NIGERIA

The Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered) (ISMN) has confirmed the full membership of the Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Gusau, Dr. Bello A. Mohammed (MBBS, FWACS), under its Health and Social Development Cluster (HSDC).

The confirmation of his membership marks another professional milestone for Dr. Bello, whose leadership at FMC Gusau since 2019 has been characterised by strategic initiatives, infrastructural expansion, service improvement and efforts to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare to the people of Zamfara State and beyond.

Founded in 2003 and chartered in 2023, the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered) is Africa’s premier institute for strategy crafting. As a non-governmental, non-profit and independent professional, learning and research organisation, the Institute provides training and professional development in Strategic Management, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Governance and Digital Innovation.

Dr. Bello’s admission into the Health and Social Development Cluster is particularly significant given the strategic responsibilities associated with managing a tertiary healthcare institution and his established commitment to institutional development.
Under his leadership, FMC Gusau has witnessed notable developments, including the completion of major infrastructure and service projects such as the Paediatric Surgical Ward, Molecular Laboratory, Community Medicine, Health information Management Department, Psychiatric Department, NHIA Complex, House Officers’ Quarters phase II, III & IV, 250-capacity Dr. Anka Mohammed Kabir Auditorium, improved water drainage and internal road infrastructure, among others. The Centre has also witnessed increased manpower and introduced full Electronic Medical Records (EMR) as part of its efforts towards digital transformation and improved healthcare administration.

In addition, ongoing projects under his administration include the New Administrative Block, Emergency and Trauma Unit 100-bed Mother and Baby Care Unit, Female Medical and rehabilitation of the Amenity Ward, while the provision of additional accommodation for doctors has further addressed a long-standing challenge affecting staff welfare and retention.

The membership of the Institute is therefore expected to further expose the Medical Director to contemporary ideas, knowledge and professional networks in strategic management, leadership and governance, which could complement his wealth of experience in healthcare administration.

As the Chief Administrator of FMC Gusau, Dr. Bello is expected to leverage the knowledge and perspectives gained through the Institute’s professional community to further strengthen strategic planning, innovation, institutional governance and sustainable development at the Centre.

The management of FMC Gusau congratulates Dr. Bello A. Mohammed on this professional achievement and expresses confidence that his membership of the Institute will contribute positively to his leadership journey and the continued growth and development of the Centre.

FMC GUSAU MD URGES STAFF To APPLY KNOWLEDGE From OXYGEN THERAPY LECTURE

The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Gusau, Associate Professor Dr Bello A. Mohammed, has called on staff of the Centre to effectively utilize the knowledge gained from a recent quarterly lecture on oxygen therapy in their day-to-day clinical practice.

Dr Bello made the call during the quarterly lecture organized by the Hospital Presentation Committee of the Centre. He emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and assured staff that his administration would continue to prioritize training and capacity building, noting that the benefits of such lectures are evident in improved service delivery.

He further urged the Hospital Presentation Committee to be more deliberate in selecting competent presenters and relevant topics that address current clinical needs and enhance patient care.

Earlier in his remarks, the Oxygen Focal Person of Zamfara State, Alhaji Isiyaka Sabo Tsafe, commended the Medical Director for his proactive leadership, particularly in ensuring that all wards and units of FMC Gusau are connected with oxygen pipeline systems. The presentation highlighted key aspects of oxygen therapy, including its fundamental principles, proper prescription practices, and the selection of appropriate oxygen delivery devices.
