Winners Crowned at the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival in Kebbi State
Argungu, Kebbi State, Nigeria β The 61st edition of the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival (AIFF), one of Nigeriaβs most anticipated cultural and tourism celebrations, concluded with a thrilling grand finale in Kebbi State on February 14, 2026.
Main Fishing Competition Results
Overall Winner:
Abubakar Usman from Maiyama Local Government Area emerged as the champion of the festivalβs central fishing contest by landing the largest fish a spectacular 59-kilogram catch in the historic Matan Fada River.
For his achievement, he received two vehicles, β¦1 million in cash, and other valuable prizes presented during the grand finale.
Second Place:
Abdullahi Garba from Argungu secured second place with a 40kg fish and was awarded a car, a Hajj seat, and β¦700,000.
Third Place:
Two competitors including Nasir Garba tied for third, each catching fish weighing around 33kg and receiving motorcycles in addition to cash prizes.
