THIS IS THE CHANGE I VOTED FOR!
Dear Mr. President,
I humbly write to remind you that this is the change I voted for.
I voted for you because:
1. I want a peaceful Nigeria free from corruption.
2. I want a Nigeria with a good economy.
3. I want a Nigeria in which the common man has enough food to eat, clean water to drink, good hospitals, schools and roads.
4. I want a Nigeria with equal opportunities for all in which the height of one's achievement is only limited by one's dream and one's willingness to pursue it.
5. I want a Nigeria in which the sons and daughters of nobodys have equal employment and educational opportunities with the sons and daughters of the who is whos.
6. I want a Nigeria in which laws are just and courts give judgement based on the law, not on bribery or on politics.
7. I want a Nigeria where differences are resolved through dialogue, not violence.
8. I want a Nigeria that can rightfully answer the name "the Giant of Africa". A Nigeria that we will all be proud of.
9. I voted for you because I want change. BUT change for the better, not for the worse!
Mr. President, I voted for you based on the above understanding. I have paid my part of the consideration during the electioneering period. I am ready to continue doing everything and anything expected of a good citizen. I pay my taxes as at when due, I support your policies that are good, I criticize those that I think are bad so that you may correct them and more else. I am ready to make any sacrifices that will help you in achieving these, including forfeiting part my income to support your government.
BUT, Mr. President, you must be ready to play your own part. Your must provide the nature of leadership Nigeria requires now. I understand that Nigeria is in recession. BUT, there were no caveats and/or disclaimers in the agreement we signed with. You promised Change without any ifs or buts. In fact, I voted for you because I knew Nigeria is in shambles. If Nigeria was in prosperity during the last administration, there would have been no need to replace President Jonathan.
Sir, I wrote to remind you just in case you forget the terms of our Contract for Election into the Office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2015. I hope you will reconsider your economic policies, talk to those in charge of employing our youths to be swift, fair and transparent, and retrace your steps and direct them towards the above goals. Else, in few years time, you may seek renewal of the Contract. Even if you don't, history will judge you, Nigerians will judge you and more importantly the Almighty will judge you.
I wish you smooth and fruitful trip to Kenya. I wish success in piloting the affairs of our country.
I remain your ardent but pragmatic supporter,
Audu Bulama Bukarti
