Teachers have been charged to be proactive and supportive towards government policy for quality service delivery in the education sector.

The charge was given by the Permanent Secretary Gombe State Ministry of Education, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan in an interview with the media shortly after monitoring schools in continuation of the on going WAEC Examinations.

Alhaji Abubakar Hassan said the ability of the student to pass their external examinations relied heavily on the dedication and commitment of teachers in proper planning of their scheme of work and lesson plans.

To this end, the Permanent Secretary said a team of evaluators from the ministry have been dispatched to schools to make an assessment of teachers lessons delivery during classroom sessions.

The Permanent Secretary therefore, told the them that any teacher found wanting on his job will not be spared as measures are being put in place to assess fairly and compensate hardworking teachers accordingly.

Alhaji Abubakar Hassan further described the Quality Assurance, Examination and Planning Research and Statistics departments as critical directorates of the ministry with core mandate to ensure quality service delivery.

Also commenting, the Director Quality Assurance Department of the ministry, Saidu Dauda Gadam said the department is at the moment conducting comparative analysis on the set question papers and the designed individual teacher lessons plans as well as teacher, classroom observations across all schools.

These measures according to the Director are all geared toward improving the Teacher output and the Students performance during examinations.

Management staff of public schools in the state have been called upon to discharge their duties deligently.

The call was made by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Alhaji Abubakar Hassan today while on a routine monitoring of public schools.
The Permanent Secretary said the Management of all public schools in the state must ensure quality service delivery and maintain academic standard in their respective schools.
He added that while the state government is investigating much in the education sector, more concerted effort are expected from the school Managements.
Alhaji Abubakar Hassan therefore, warned that the ministry has zero tolerance on laxity and nonchalant attitudes toward assigned responsibility and advised them to adjust to realities for the good of the service.
The principals of the two schools visited Government Mega Science Secondary School and Government Day Science Secondary School all in Gombe, Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman and Saidu Sabo respectively assured of their commitment in that regard to further improve the quality of education in the state.
All the Directors in the ministry, led by the Director Administration Alh Saidu Shehu Muhammad accompanied the Permanent Secretary to his first routine monitoring of schools after assumption of duty in the ministry.

Gombe State Government directs the immediate distribution of food stuff to boarding schools as schools resumes.

Gombe State Government has directed the distribution of non perishable food items to all the 20 public boarding schools in the state.

The directives was given by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan while inspecting the procured food items by the Gombe State Cooperative and Financing Agency (CFA) at the warehouse today.

The Permanent Secretary expressed satisfaction with the procured food items and commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his constant approvals in that regard.

Alh Abubakar Hassan also called on the Principals of the boarding schools to judiciously utilize the food stuff as government will not condone any form of misusage or diversion of the commodity.

Earlier the General Manager of the CFA, Alh Adamu Lawan said quality food items were procured by the Agency and all is now set to commence the distribution to the boarding schools.

The items meant for distribution includes Parboiled rice, Beans, Millet, Maize flour and Sugar.

The Permanent Secretary was accompanied to the visit by the Director school services Mal Yusuf Muhammad, the Deputy Director in charge of direct feeding committee Hajiya Sakinatu Muhammad and a member of the committee, Mr James Obadiah.

A one day training on chalk making for teachers opens in Gombe.

Teachers of Hassan Central Primary School Gombe were engaged in a one day training on chalk making for self reliance.

Speaking during the training session, the Director Education Resource Center in the Ministry of Education, Mrs Tina Ladan said the concept of the chalk making was conceived by the immediate past Hon. Commissioner of Education, Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari during one of her routine visit to the school.

Tina Ladan said if properly sustained, the chalk making venture will serve as an additional source of income to the school.

Earlier, the facilitator of the training, Malam Inuwa Garba of the Education Resource Center Bauchi explained the stages involved in the chalk making and demonstrated the process using the raw materials needed in the production of quality chalk.

Also speaking, the Headmaster of Hassan Central Primary School Gombe, Malam Sale Ahmed Gombe commended the initiative of the immediate past Hon Commissioner of Education Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari for her contribution to the realization of the initiative.

He assured of sustaining the idea that will not only improve the revenue base of the school but also avail the teachers of the school to learn additional skills.

One of the teachers in the school Hajiya Fatsuma Zubairu who spoke on behalf of other participants expressed appreciation for being part of the training and commended the former Hon Commissioner of Education for the initiative and reaffirms their commitment to sustaining the program to reach out all schools across the state.

After the first production, the chalk was also packaged and branded in a unique form.

Gombe State Government say's 2500 educators have been trained in modern e-pedagogy and virtual teaching platforms across the state.

This was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government Prof Abubakar Ibrahim Njodi on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the state launch of the Nigeria Learning Passport held at the C-ERC Gombe.

The SSG represented by the Head of Civil Service Prof Muazu Shehu, said additionally Gombe State Government invested significantly in ICT and e-learning that led to equipping 150 public schools with computer laboratories and other digital learning devices geared toward improving students performance in ICT.

Prof Abubakar Ibrahim Njodi therefore said the launch of the NLP program in Gombe State marks a historic milestone in the Inuwa Yahaya's led administration commitment to close the learning poverty gap, and reaffirms government efforts to leveraging technology, strengthening partnership and allocating resources to ensure that digital learning is accessible to every child in Gombe State.

In his remark, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Alhaji Abubakar Hassan said the ministry is always poised to improve the both Teachers and Students performance through Quality assurance in all public schools.

The Permanent Secretary commended UNICEF and other development partners for ensuring the success of the NLP Launch for Gombe State and charged the benefitting schools to ensure judicious utilization of the ICT devices.

In his remark, the UNICEF chief of party Bauchi, Dr. Nazhat Rafique represented by the NLP Coordinator UNICEF Nigeria Mr Harold Kpojime said Gombe State is now 24th in the list of states in the country that launched the program and commended the level of support and political will demonstrated by Gombe State Government in that regard.

Good will messages were received from partners that cut across State Universal Basic Education Board, Teachers Service Commission, NUT, ANCOPSS and Tertiary institutions among others.

The NLP Launch also witnessed a panel discussion that focused attention on a topic, "Digital Learning- an enabler for better access to quality learning" moderated by Dr Zubairu Suleiman HoD, Department of Science Education of the Gombe State University.

Principals in the state have been called upon to reciprocate the state government efforts in the education sector.

The call was made by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Alh Abubakar Hassan while receiving the State leadership of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) who paid him a visit in his office today.

The Permanent Secretary said the State Government under the stewardship of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has done so much in the sector through the massive infrastructure development and the provision of instructional materials that deserves reciprocal efforts and commitments from the school administrators.

Alh Abubakar Hassan said Ministry of Education is one of the key ministries that government gave priority attention since inception and called on all critical stakeholders to rally round the positive drive of the present administration aimed at improving the sector.

The Permanent Secretary added that efforts will be made to address some of the concerns raised by the ANCOPSS which according to him will go along way in improving the productivity out put.

He however charged the Principals to work out modalities to improve on the students' performance in both WAEC, NABTEB and NBAIS Examinations.

Earlier, the State President of ANCOPSS, Alh Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman said they were in the ministry to officially welcome the Permanent Secretary and extend their support in piloting the affairs of the ministry.

He said ANCOPSS is the umbrella body of all principals in public schools across the state that also serves as a bridge between the Ministry, Teachers, Students as well as Parents on all government policies and programs.

Alh Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman who also holds the the position of the Zonal Chairman of ANCOPSS, commended Gombe State Government for numerous developmental strides in the education sector.

He then appealed to the Permanent Secretary to look into the stagnation issue of principals on grade level 15 with a view to further elevation to the next grade.

The immediate past Hon Commissioner of Education, Associate Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari today handed over the affairs of the ministry to the newly posted Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan.

Speaking while handing over the Ministry, Associate Prof Aishatu Maigari expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the opportunity given to her in serving the state at both the first and second tenures of his administration.

Aishatu Umar Maigari said within her stewardship, the ministry has recorded tremendous achievements as a result of the political will of the Inuwa Yahaya's administration in the education sector.

She therefore called on the New Permanent Secretary to study the handover notes which will serve as a guide in piloting the affairs of the ministry.

Responding, the new Permanent Secretary, Alh Abubakar Hassan describes the immediate past Hon Commissioner as a committed and innovative personality that had in her earlier stay in Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation made significant impact that led to many breakthroughs.

He commended her for building another legacy in the Education Ministry that saw improved performance of students in both internal and external Examinations.

5 Gombe Mega Schools gets new Computers to support ICT's in public schools.

The Five remodeled Mega Schools in Gombe State benefits from the 2025/2025 SUBEB/UBEC intervention to support both Teachers and learners in adopting ICT's best practices.

This was disclosed by the Hon Commissioner of Education Associate Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari at an inspection visit of the installed desktop computers at Govt Girls Mega College Doma.

She said GGMC Doma will soon additionally benefit from the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project under it's Digital Literacy initiative
with Computers and accessories as well as uninterrupted solar power supply and internet connection.

The Hon Commissioner said with the installation of these computers GGMC Doma will now also follow suit in conducting Computer Based Test (CBT) Examinations.

"The internal CBT Examinations will serve as a test ground for the students as even the external Examinations are on the verge of converting to computer based approach". She added.

Gombe State Government say's it will not relent efforts in the payment of SUBEB/UBEC counterpart funds.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has assured his administration's determination in moving the education sector forward through constant payments of counterpart funding as at when due.

The Governor gave the assurance while flagging off the distribution of teaching aids to Education Secretaries and handing over of operational vehicles to beneficiaries.

Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, represented by the Hon Commissioner of Education, Associate Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari said the distribution of the Teaching and Learning materials was part of the administration top priorities in the education since inception as a result of strong partnership between the state government and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

The Governor therefore charged the beneficiaries to utilize the items maximally to maintain the exceptional academic status of the state.

"Gombe State Government is always concerned towards laying a solid foundation for our educational system from the basic levels which are the feeders of our secondary and tertiary institutions in the state and beyond."
The Governor added.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof Esrom Toro Jokthan appreciated the partnership between SUBEB and UBEC which according to has yielded the needed support that led to reinvigoration of the Basic Education in the state.

Prof Esrom Toro added that all the successes recorded were as a result of the political will of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the supervisory roles played by the Gombe State Ministry of Education under the watch of the Hon Commissioner.

In a remark on behalf of the UBEC Executive Secretary Aisha Garba, the Gombe State UBEC Coordinator, Ibrahim Jika said the commission is always proud of the educational policies of Gombe State Government which are in line with UBEC operational principles.

The UBEC Executive Secretary added that Gombe State is among the top states that are up to date in terms of payment for counterpart funding which is a criteria that qualifies for intervention by the commission.

While appreciating the distribution exercise, the Education Secretary Gombe Local Government Education Authority Abubakar Baba Abdullahi commended SUBEB/UBEC intervention and assured that the materials will used optimally.

Items distributed includes school bags, sandals, instructional materials as well as monitoring vehicles and motorcycles for quality assurance and service delivery.
