Isuikwuato People Host Gov Otti, Endorse Him For Second Term

The people of Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State on Thursday organised a grand civic reception in honour of the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, in recognition of what they described as his exceptional leadership and infrastructural development across the state.

The reception, which took place at Isuikwuato Secondary School field, followed the commissioning of seven roads including the Eluama- Nunya road, and two primary healthcare centres executed across the Abia North Senatorial District by the Governor.

Speaking during the event, the Executive Mayor of Isuikwuato LGA, Hon. Chinedu Ekeke, said the people of the area had succeeded with the quality of projects delivered by the Governor in the locality.

According to him, the roads constructed by the Otti-led administration have transformed the area and justified the support given to the Governor by the people of Isuikwuato.

He assured the Governor of the people’s support for a second term to enable him continue his developmental strides across the state.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Gen. Ike Nwachukwu (Rtd), commended Governor Otti for what he described as outstanding performance in office, insisting that the good work must continue.

He stated that the people of Isuikwuato were prepared to support the Governor’s re-election bid in appreciation of the developmental projects executed in the area.

Also speaking, former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (Rtd), expressed gratitude to the Governor for his achievements, noting that the impact of his administration would remain significant for generations to come.

Ihejirika said many Nigerians had congratulated him over the Governor’s performance, adding that he would fully support Governor Otti’s re-election.

In his goodwill message, former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Hon. Uchechukwu Ogah, said the Governor’s style of leadership had reassured him despite his recent suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ogah maintained that the Governor’s achievements were visible across the state, stressing that Abians were pleased with the level of infrastructural development under the current administration.

According to him, virtually every part of Isuikwuato had benefited from the projects of the Otti administration.

“We are grateful. Governance is not rocket science. If Abia had experienced this level of leadership over the past 24 years, the state would have been far more developed”, Ogah stated.

Similarly, the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Ogah, reaffirmed the support of the constituency for Governor Otti.

He noted that the Governor had previously won his election even without the advantages of incumbency, expressing confidence that his performance in office would further strengthen public support for him.

In their separate remarks, the Stakeholders Chairman of Labour Party in Isuikwuato, Sir Ken Ahia (SAN), the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the State, Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, and the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency, Hon. Lucky Johnson, also pledged their support for the Governor’s second term ambition.

They expressed satisfaction with the Governor’s leadership within the last three years, describing his administration as people-oriented and development-driven.

Responding, Governor Otti thanked the people of Isuikwuato for the warm reception accorded to him and assured them that his administration would continue to prioritise infrastructural development across the state.

The Governor disclosed that his administration would construct the road linking Acha to Afikpo and extend it to the state boundary to enhance movement and economic activities within the communities.

Governor Otti further stated that his administration would continue to honour Abians who had demonstrated integrity and excellence in service.

He recalled that the state government had honoured the Returning Officer for the 2023 governorship election in Abia, Prof. Nnenna Oti, by naming the newly constructed bus terminal after her.

The Governor also announced plans by the state government to celebrate Gen. Ike Nwachukwu on the occasion of his 86th birthday.

From Umuahia to the World: SmartAIRS Earns National Recognition at South East Venture Capital Pitch Competition

A major milestone has been recorded for Abia State’s growing technology ecosystem as SmartAIRS, a GovTech company headquartered in Umuahia, emerged among the recognized startups at the inaugural South East Venture Capital Programme (SEVCP) Pitch Competition organized by the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

The prestigious innovation and investment programme, held between May 25 and 26, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, attracted over 1,200 startups and ventures from across Nigeria, making it one of the biggest innovation gatherings ever hosted in Southeast Nigeria.

Following a rigorous month-long selection and evaluation process handled by leading figures within Nigeria’s technology, venture capital, and innovation ecosystem, SmartAIRS successfully earned recognition on the national stage for its innovative GovTech infrastructure solution designed to modernize revenue administration and digital governance across Africa.

The event attracted top national leaders, policymakers, investors, and executives from Nigeria’s technology and investment ecosystem.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was represented at the programme by the Coordinating Minister for Finance, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, while representatives of Southeast state governments, members of the National Assembly, heads of financial institutions, and leaders of major innovation organizations were also in attendance.

Among organizations represented at the event were MTN, Flutterwave, Andela, Ventures Platform, Ubulu Africa, Rise, Cascador, and several other prominent technology and investment institutions.

Representing SmartAIRS during the pitch session was the Founder and Chief Operating Officer of the company, Dr. Pastra Arinze Etie, who delivered a compelling presentation positioning SmartAIRS as an intelligent revenue infrastructure platform built to improve transparency, compliance, automation, and operational efficiency within African government revenue systems.

During the presentation, the company highlighted the urgent need for transparent digital revenue systems, real-time monitoring, automated compliance infrastructure, connected payment systems, and intelligent public sector operational tools.

Observers at the event described the response from judges, investors, and ecosystem stakeholders as highly encouraging, especially given the growing importance of scalable GovTech infrastructure capable of addressing institutional and governance challenges across Africa.

One of the major highlights of the recognition was the fact that SmartAIRS was conceived, designed, and developed in Umuahia, Abia State — a development many participants described as a proud moment for the state and the wider Southeast innovation ecosystem.

SmartAIRS is designed as an end-to-end intelligent revenue infrastructure platform connecting governments, businesses, and citizens through a unified digital operational system.

For governments, the platform provides tools for digital enumeration, automated revenue collection, payment processing, reconciliation, compliance monitoring, operational intelligence, enforcement systems, and real-time reporting.

For businesses, the system simplifies compliance processes by integrating banks, vendors, payment systems, and government operations into one unified framework.

For citizens, the platform offers self-service digital access, payment capabilities, guided support systems, and an AI-powered tax support assistant known as SmartAssist.

Speaking on the recognition, Dr. Pastra Arinze Etie Etie described the achievement as proof that globally competitive technology solutions can emerge from Southeast Nigeria.

“This is proof that world-class technology can be built from Southeast Nigeria — from Umuahia — and compete at the highest level. We built SmartAIRS to help governments operate more transparently, businesses comply more easily, and citizens access services more efficiently,” he stated.

The recognition was formally endorsed through an official certificate issued by the South East Development Commission and signed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SEDC, Mark Okoye.

Industry observers say the achievement signals the growing strength of Southeast Nigeria’s technology ecosystem and reinforces the region’s potential as a hub for scalable digital innovation and enterprise development.

The South East Venture Capital Programme is backed by a $50 million blended finance initiative aimed at supporting high-potential ventures capable of driving sustainable economic growth, innovation, and institutional transformation across the Southeast region.

With the latest recognition, SmartAIRS says it remains focused on expanding intelligent revenue infrastructure solutions for African governments while advancing transparency, accountability, operational efficiency, and digital governance across the continent.

Group Urges IGP to Call Former Police Monitoring Unit Head Akin Fakorede to Order Over Alleged Interference in Okon-Aku Community Crisis

A Group under the aegis of Abia Conscience Group, has called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Tunde Disu, to caution former head of the Inspector General’s Monitoring Unit, Mr. Akin Fakorede, over what it described as alleged attempts to interfere in the ongoing Okon-Aku community crisis in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

The group made the call in a statement issued in Umuahia on Sunday by its Publicity Secretary, High Chief Kenechukwu Kalu, alleging that the supporters of Ben K**a are already celebrating in Okon that his name will be removed from the charge sheet which has already progressed to the Abia State High Court following the conclusion of police investigations.

According to the group, the dispute involving the Okon-Aku community has moved beyond the investigative stage and is now a subject of judicial determination, making any external attempt to influence the process inappropriate and capable of undermining the administration of justice.

“Ben K**a and his group are already jubilating in Okon that his name which is number one on the charge will be removed from the list as he was been assured by Fakorede”

“Why is Akin mounting pressure from Lagos when he was the one that did the investigation and handed the file over to the team, what is his interest or is the relationship he now has more important than the life of Late Igwe Akuma who was tragically killed on the 2nd of January 2026 in Okon”the group stated.

The group specifically alleged attempts to pressure law enforcement authorities to remove the name of Chief Bernard K**a who is number one in the charge sheet filed by the Police.

Abia Conscience Group warned that any interference in matters already before a competent court could erode public confidence in the justice system and create dangerous precedents.

The group therefore urged the Inspector General of Police to ensure professionalism, neutrality, and strict adherence to due process by all current and former officers connected to the matter.

It maintained that justice must be allowed to take its full course without intimidation, influence, or interference from powerful interests.

Dr. Kelechi Anosike has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State after securing a decisive victory in the party’s governorship primary election.

In the results announced at the conclusion of the exercise, Dr. Anosike polled 16,543 votes to defeat his closest challenger, John Okiyi Kalu, who garnered 3,100 votes.

The outcome positions Dr. Anosike as the PDP’s flagbearer for the 2027 Abia State governorship election, setting the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested political battle.

Why Abia PDP Delegates Should Support Dr. Kelechi Anosike to Emerge as Governorship Candidate

By Chief Lawman Okorie

As the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prepares for the crucial task of selecting its governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 Abia State governorship election, delegates are once again faced with a decision that could shape the future of the party and determine its competitiveness in the general election.

This decision goes beyond personal relationships, old political loyalties, or familiar names. It is fundamentally about electability, competence, strategic positioning, and the capacity to reconnect the PDP with the people of Abia State.

Among the emerging aspirants, one name steadily commanding attention is Dr. Kelechi Anosike, PhD (Law).
The question before delegates is simple: Why should PDP delegates support Dr. Kelechi Anosike?

1. *Because PDP Needs a Candidate Who Can Win*
Politics is first about winning.
A political party does not go into an election merely to participate; it goes to compete and secure victory.
Abia has changed politically. The 2023 election made it clear that voters are willing to reject traditional political calculations when presented with a compelling alternative.

For PDP to stand a realistic chance in 2027, it must present a candidate with broad appeal, fresh energy, and the ability to reconnect with voters beyond the party’s traditional support base.
Dr. Anosike offers that possibility.
He is not burdened by the heavy baggage many career politicians or other aspirants carry, making him easier to market as a credible alternative.

More importantly, his emergence is already generating quiet political conversations across party lines. There are growing feelers within the political space that some smaller political parties may ultimately prefer to align with or adopt Dr. Kelechi Anosike(as their candidate) rather than field separate governorship candidates against him.
That possibility alone speaks volumes.
It reflects an emerging perception that his candidacy possesses unusual coalition-building capacity and cross-party acceptability capable of reshaping the political equation ahead of 2027.
In politics, momentum matters.
And increasingly, Dr. Anosike appears to be building the kind of momentum that transforms an aspirant into a movement.

2 *Because Competence Matters*
Campaign promises alone are no longer enough.
Abians are becoming more politically aware and increasingly interested in candidates with demonstrable capacity to govern.
Dr. Kelechi Anosike is not merely a politician; he is an accomplished legal practitioner with a PhD in Law and significant exposure to strategic leadership, corporate systems, and governance frameworks.
The next governor of Abia will require more than political rhetoric.
The state needs leadership capable of:
rebuilding infrastructure,
creating jobs,
attracting investment,
reforming institutions,
strengthening education,
improving healthcare,
and delivering accountable governance.
Delegates must ask:
Who possesses not just political ambition, but the intellectual depth, administrative discipline, and strategic capacity to govern a modern state?

*3. Because PDP Needs a Fresh Political Narrative*
One of the major challenges political parties face is public perception.
Many voters are tired of recycled political faces and predictable structures.
To compete effectively, PDP must project renewal. Rebrand itself. Look serious.
Dr. Anosike represents a fresh political narrative—one built around professionalism, strategic thinking, innovation, and issue-based governance.
His candidacy offers the PDP an opportunity to reintroduce itself to Abians not merely as an opposition party seeking power, but as a reformed political platform ready to produce transformational leadership.
Sometimes political reinvention becomes necessary for political survival.
*4. Because Dr. Anosike Represents Welfare-Driven Governance*
One of the strongest aspects of Dr. Anosike’s vision is his clear welfarist philosophy.
He has consistently projected governance beyond mere salary and pension payments and government activities.
His ideas around Civil Service Care, PensionPlus, youth Agog and empowerment, economic inclusion, Back-to-farm state policy,(Operation feed Abia), and social protection resonate deeply with ordinary Abians.
This is important because elections are no longer won only by political structures.
They are increasingly won by emotional connection with the people.
Abians want leadership that understands their daily struggles, economic realities, and aspirations for a better life.
That emotional connection is gradually becoming one of Dr. Anosike’s strongest political assets.

*5. Because Loyalty to Party Matters*
Political parties value loyalty and consistency.
Delegates often look carefully at whether an aspirant has genuine roots in the party or is merely seeking a convenient platform.
Dr. Anosike is being projected as a committed party man with longstanding ties to the PDP structure.
That matters.
Trust within party structures often shapes delegate confidence.

*6.Because Modern Elections Require Strong Messaging*
Winning modern elections requires effective communication.
Voters now pay attention to clarity of vision, policy articulation, and public credibility.
Dr. Anosike’s governance messaging appears focused on:
security,
economic growth,
infrastructure,
job creation,
accountability,
youth opportunities,
civil service welfare,
pension reforms,
and people-oriented governance.
That is the kind of language modern electorates understand.
His messaging also carries optimism, renewal, and what many supporters now describe as a “New Beginning” ans New Mindset for Abia politics.

*7. Because PDP Must Present a Serious Alternative*
Alex Otti currently enjoys the advantage of incumbency and visible governance momentum.
If PDP intends to mount a serious challenge, it cannot rely on weak political calculations or outdated assumptions or present candidate with baggage.
The party must field someone capable of:
inspiring confidence,
energizing supporters,
attracting undecided voters,
building strategic alliances,
and projecting executive credibility.
This is where strategic thinking becomes essential.
2027 will not simply be a contest of party structures.
It will be a contest of perception, credibility, coalition-building, communication strength, and public trust.
The Decision Before Delegates
Delegates are not merely choosing a candidate.
They are choosing:
the image of the PDP,
the strength of its campaign,
its ability to reconnect with the people,
and its chances in the general election.
Politics rewards courage, timing, and strategic decisions.

If the objective is to field a candidate with competence, credibility, freshness, coalition potential, and competitive strength, then Dr. Kelechi Anosike deserves serious consideration.
The final decision rests with the delegates.
But if the PDP truly seeks a candidate capable of rebranding the party, energizing the electorate, attracting strategic alliances, and presenting a formidable challenge in 2027, then supporting Dr. Kelechi Anosike may prove to be one of the smartest political decisions in the history of the party in Abia State.
And perhaps, just perhaps, the beginning of a new political harvest season for Abia.

The Rise of a New Political Mindset in Abia: Deacon(Dr.) Kelechi Anosike, PhD For Governor

Politics in Abia State appears to be entering another defining season, and with every political cycle comes the emergence of new conversations, new alignments, and occasionally, new faces who seek to redefine the narrative. One name increasingly entering that conversation is Dr. Kelechi Anosike, PhD, whose political aspiration in the People’s Democratic Party is beginning to attract attention as part of what some observers may describe as a new political mindset in Abia.

For decades, politics in many parts of Nigeria, including Abia State, has often revolved around familiar patterns, established political structures, long-standing godfatherism, ethnic balancing, loyalty networks, and personalities with entrenched influence. While these elements remain part of the political ecosystem, there is a growing appetite among citizens, especially young people and professionals, for leadership defined by ideas, competence, strategic thinking, and measurable governance outcomes rather than traditional political calculations.

This is where the conversation around Dr. Kelechi Anosike becomes relevant.

A Senior legal practitioner with academic distinction and a PhD in Law,(popularly called the Blue-Chip Lawyer), Dr. Anosike represents a category of professionals seeking to transition from intellectual and private sector competence into public governance. His emergence reflects a broader shift in political thinking—one that suggests governance should not merely be left to traditional politicians alone, but should also attract technocrats, thinkers, and solution-oriented leaders. He is a "professor" of wealth and knowledge.

The rise of this new political mindset is not necessarily about rejecting the old order completely; rather, it is about expanding the criteria for leadership selection. Abians are increasingly asking deeper questions: What are the candidate’s ideas? What is the capacity for governance? What practical solutions are being offered to unemployment, infrastructure deficits, insecurity, industrial decline, healthcare challenges, and educational reform?

Politics is gradually becoming less about emotional loyalty and more about competence-driven conversations.

Dr. Anosike’s public positioning appears to align with that evolving sentiment. His messaging suggests a governance philosophy rooted in institutional reform, accountability, economic revitalization, structured development and the people.

What differentiates Deacon (Dr.) Kelechi Anosike from the present Abia Government and other aspirants in the 2027 governorship race is his welfarist mindset and people-first governance philosophy.
Deacon Anosike believes governance must go beyond mere payment of salaries and political promises. His vision is built around human-centered development, where every Abian becomes a stakeholder in prosperity and not a victim of hardship.
At the heart of his philosophy is Civil Service Care — a new governance model where Abia civil servants will receive far more than the minimum wage. He proposes better welfare packages, improved working conditions, incentives, and social support systems that restore dignity to the workforce.

Through PensionPlus, Deacon Anosike has promised not only to clear pension arrears but also to introduce additional welfare packages for Abia pensioners. According to him, senior citizens who served the state faithfully must not be abandoned after retirement.
His administration also proposes a compassionate social welfare policy anchored on the belief that *“every Abian in need should become a priority and not a problem.”*
Under Operation Feed Abia (OFA), he has vowed that no Abian should go to bed hungry again. His government plans to drive an agricultural revolution through a Back-to-Farm State Policy, repositioning Abia as a productive and food-secure economy.
For the youths, Deacon Anosike’s vision is futuristic and technology-driven. Through Youth Agog, he seeks to create massive opportunities for Abia youths by opening international remote-work portals and ICT-driven employment systems. His plan is to train university graduates, school leavers, and young people across the state with the skills, orientation, and digital competence needed to work remotely for foreign companies and earn in foreign currencies from any part of Abia State.
According to him, “the world is changing, and our political mindset must also change regarding youth engagement and job creation.”
Chief Kelechi Anosike, the Agu Na Eche Mba 1 of Ohuhu and Mma Agha 1 of Ohafia, has also pledged to deploy ICT solutions across governance sectors, including:
Education
Healthcare
Agriculture
Security of lives and property
Public service delivery
He further envisions making Abia economically strong by unlocking the state’s mineral resources through industrialization and private-sector-driven development.

Above all, Deacon (Dr.) Kelechi Anosike has promised to sign Seven Service Contracts with different segments of Ndi Abia — a governance accountability framework designed to ensure measurable delivery and direct engagement with the people.
His message is simple but bold:
A government that truly cares for workers, pensioners, youths, farmers, and the vulnerable can transform Abia into a prosperous, modern, and people-oriented state.

Whether voters ultimately embrace that message remains to be seen, but what is undeniable is that the language of political engagement is changing. This is the NEW MINDSET that will shape the conversations around 2027 elections. The welfare of Abia residents.

Abia has witnessed significant political transitions over the years, and each administration has contributed differently to the state’s political development. However, the electorate is becoming more politically aware, more informed, and arguably less patient with rhetoric that lacks substance.

A new political mindset also means a different kind of voter one less interested in slogans and more interested in delivery.

For younger politicians and emerging leaders, this presents both an opportunity and a challenge. The opportunity lies in the fact that political participation is becoming more open to unconventional entrants. The challenge lies in proving that intellectual capacity can translate into practical governance.

Dr. Kelechi Anosike’s political journey, therefore, should not only be viewed through the lens of ambition but as part of a broader democratic evolution in Abia State. Deacon(Dr) Anosike said "We will not build infrastructure and forget the people. We will build infrastructure and we will build lives". Its going to be a people-centered government, where the welfare of the people is paramount.

The bigger question is whether Abia is truly ready for a generational and ideological shift in its political culture.

Can politics in Abia move from personality-driven contests to issue-driven campaigns?

Can governance conversations move beyond political sentiment to measurable policy debates?

Can merit, innovation, and administrative competence compete effectively against traditional political structures?

These are the questions defining the new era.

The rise of a new political mindset is not about one individual alone, it is about the possibility of a political culture where ideas matter, competence counts, and leadership is judged by vision, capacity and welfare of the people.

If that conversation continues to grow, then Abia politics may be witnessing not just another candidacy, but the early signs of a political transformation.

And perhaps, Dr. Kelechi Anosike is one of the faces of that conversation.

Support him to emerge as PDP Governorship Candidate ahead of the 2027 General election in Abia.

Dr. Kelechi Anosike Declares Interest in Abia Governorship, Targets PDP Delegates

A legal practitioner from Umuahia North Local Government Area and governorship aspirant, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, has formally indicated interest in the Abia State governorship race under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), positioning himself as a fresh alternative ahead of the party’s internal contest.

In campaign materials now circulating, Anosike described himself as the “winning choice” for PDP delegates, expressing confidence in his capacity to secure victory for the party in the general election.

The governorship hopeful, who holds a PhD in Law, presented himself as a credible and result-driven candidate with experience in business, governance, and legal practice.

According to the campaign message, Anosike is promoting a people-centered governance model focused on infrastructure development, job creation, workers’ welfare, pension reforms, and structured accountability.

The campaign also highlighted his professional background as an international commercial lawyer and business turnaround expert, while emphasizing his long-standing membership in the People’s Democratic Party since 2005.

Anosike’s supporters argue that his candidacy offers a departure from what they described as “politics as usual,” presenting him as a fresh face without governance baggage.

A native of Umukabia Okpuala, Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area, with maternal roots in Bende Local Government Area, Anosike also outlined policy priorities including youth empowerment, industrialization, healthcare, education, agriculture, and security.

His emergence adds another dimension to the evolving political conversations ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Abia State, as political parties begin early positioning and consultations.
