As Rotr Baale distribute Sanitary Pads to celebrate birthday

Yesterday, the Public Relations Officer; Comr Anuoluwapo Taiwo represented the interest of the youth council at the birthday celebration of Rotr Oladosu Taiwo Olamiposi where Sanitary Pads were distributed to the students of Odonguyan Community Secondary School.

The Youth Council will not rest in it oars at encouraging voluntary community services, and will continue to partner individuals and cooperate bodies to actualise this mandate.

Rotr Oladosu a.k.a Baale is one of our pride at NYCN Ikorodu West, his humanitarian services has earned him series of awards within and outside Ikorodu. Even as he continue is pursuit of Humanitarian service in this new year, we wish him many more prosperous years ahead.

Memory: It been a year under the spiritual guidance of Chief Imam of Ikorodu West

Just exactly a year ago, we were at the resident of the Chief Imam of Ikorodu West; Alh Mushafau Aridegbe to receive his spiritual blessing for our administration, Baba did not only pray for us, he also handed us the book of God (Quran) as present. The Quran according to him was to serve as our guidance.

Looking back, we can boldly say his prayers was answered. Baba has remained one of our strongest back bone and we can't thank him enough for all the love and his presence at almost all our programs.

Ki Baba pe fun wa. Much love from the youths sir❤️

IKORODU WEST LCDA TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL YOUTH DAY IN GRAND STYLE

•Youths to decorate Executive Chairman as Grand Patron

•On spot light search for 15 most influential youths in Ikorodu West LCDA

•Miss Ikorodu West to emerge and lead campaign against Gender Based Violence

Just before the month of September runs out, the executive of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ikorodu West Local Branch decided to cross the dots.

In the spirit of accountability, the executive received reports of financial implication of it just concluded GENEDUCATION and adopted it.

The executive later shifted it concentration on celebration of November National Youth Day. The budget drafting committee submitted it report and the committee was dissolved on spot. An 11 man implementation committee Chaired by the Secretary; Anthony Afolayan was set up while Mrs Akinkunle Kafayat serves as Secretary.

The committee is expected to engage stakeholders and solicit support towards an hitch free celebration.

This maiden edition is aimed at setting unprecedented record and is expected to stand on a tripod which include:

1. Investiture of the Executive Chairman; Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju FCA, FCTI as Grand Patron as provided by relevant policies and laws while other patrons and matrons will also be installed and decorated.

2. To identify and celebrate 15 MOST INFLUENTIAL YOUTHS FOR 2021 in Ikorodu West LCDA. These youths are those who are doing well in their choosen fields of life which may include Sport, Music, Humanitarian Service, Politics, Governance and so on. These youths will continue to be our ambassador and point of reference to other youths while we continue to work around the clock to discourage our youths from social vices. In the interest of transparency, these individuals will be nominated and voted by the public. While complying with the National Youth Policy, these individuals are expected between the ages of 15 and 35.

3. Unprecedentedly, MISS IKORODU WEST will be unveiled. The intention is to celebrate the beauty of our girl child. While in office, Miss Ikorodu West will join in policy formulation with support of critical stakeholders for women inclusion in governance, champion campaigns against GBV, domestic violent against women and girls among others. Apart from other monatory gift, the winner will also hold honourary member of the organisation and will also Chair the committee that will see to the implementation of her terms of office.

The Asoro Abubakri Olatunji led administration has expressed unflinching commitment to the visions and missions of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA; Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju and will continue to serve the youths FOR A GREATER IKORODU WEST.

NYCN Ikorodu West espected to feature on UNICEF website

On Tuesday 14 September 2021, our team led by the team leader (Coordinator); Comr Asoro Abubakri Olatunji joined other community youth leaders (male) in Ikorodu Division at a Community Dialogue Session for partnership in Ending Violence Against Women and Girls. The program is organised by National Orientation Agency in collaboration with UNICEF; a Spotlight Initiave Project.

At the event, the male youth leaders pledged their support to end Gender Based Violence Against Female and Girls in Ikorodu Division.

After the general session, our team had a separate media session which enabled us to discuss the things we are doing in Ikorodu West to curb Gender Based Violence in line with the mandate and vision of our Chairman and Grand Patron; Hon Lanre Sulaimon. We talked about our just concluded advocacy and peer education in schools and communities in Ikorodu West sponsored by Society For Family Health. We also talked about our recent patnership with Neighborhood Watch in Ikorodu West to report and ensure that perpetrators are brought to book. Our teem also had the opportunity to share their experience on this social vices. Basically, this story is created around one of our peer educators; Oloruntade Idris whose passion to end Gender Based Violent is succinct. His efforts in one of the secondary schools in Ward B, Ikorodu West was filmed. This session is expected to be posted on UNICEF website for consumption of the world at large.

Weekend Community Service

On Sunday 11th September 2021, we continued our community efforts at helping residents of Ikorodu West with the INEC Pre enrollment exercise and to sentisitize them.

Our team successfully helped about 120 people at Majidun community, even though we had plans to do more but for unforseen circumstances on the portal.

In order to reduce our stress, we also put residents of the community through on how to enrol. This, we believe will enable them register and help others without our help. This will also ensure that they are not unnecessarily exploited by people who may want to take advantage of their ignorance. This new strategy will also enable us to conclude the community service as soon as possible.

This exercise is part of our community service and to ensure that residents enjoy their franchise as provided by the constitution. This, we believe will partially solve voters apathy and low turnout that has always characterised elections especially in the recent times. Efforts are also in the pipeline to encourage citizens to pick up their voters card where and when necessary.

Hon SKO reiterates commitment to youth inclusiveness

On Friday 10th September, 2021, members of our team led by the Coordinator, Comr Asoro Abubakri Olatunji had a brief meeting with the Executive Chairman and Grand Patron; Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju (SKO). At the meeting, the Chairman was briefed on the progress so far on the planned National Youth Day of Ikorodu West and was presented the report. Other programs of the youth council aimed at bettering the welfare of youths and residents of Ikorodu West were also discussed. The team appreciated the Chairman for considering youth in the appointment of some of his aides noting that the youths have never doubted his unflinching love for the youth constituency while hoping that more youth inclusiveness will be reflected in subsequent appointments.

While responding, the Chairman reiterated his commitment to youth inclusiveness, noting that there are more in the pipe line to appreciate him for. He also granted all the prayers sorted while affirming that his administration will continue to do things differently and to the admiration of the residents of Ikorodu West.

Permit us to reiterate that as a team, our administration stands on four (4) pillars which include Eradication of Social Vices, Abundant Job and Opportunity Creation, Service to Humanity and Exemplary leadership style (EASE).

Our administration will continue to key into the vision of our Executive Chairman and Grand Patron to EASE the affair of youths and residents of Ikorodu West LCDA.

Other members of our team at the meeting include Comr Olamilekan Shofile - Financial Secretary, Hon Rukayat Jibike - Social Secretary and Comr Anuoluwapo Taiwo - Public Relation Officer.

Asoro: Drug Abuse is now the root of all evils

•As NYCN Ikorodu West team features on IKD 106.1 radio program

On Monday 6th of September, 2021, our team were a guest on the IKD 106.1.

The team discussed on the effect of drug abuse in our society using Ikorodu as a model. The Coordinator Comr Asoro Abubakri Olatunji intimated the audience that "drug abuse is best described as the root of all evil now" owing to it capability of leading substance users to do and undo.

For us as a team, our adminstration stands on four (4) pillars; Eradicating Social Vices, Abundant Jobs and opportunity creation, Service to Humanity and Exemplary leadership Style (EASE).

Our aim is to create a Greater Ikorodu West with EASE in line with the visions of our Grand patron and Executive Chairman; Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju (SKO).

To curb drug abuse, you will recall that our administration has organised an awareness walk, several town hall meetings and seminar and the latest with the Support of Society for Family Health through UNESCO'S Spotlight Initiave visited about six (6) communities and schools to educate and enlighten our young youths on the danger of harmful practises which includes drug abuse. We would continue to partner relevant government, non governmental bodies and well meaning individuals to achieve a saner Society.

You can be rest assured that the best way to solve a youth problem, is to use the youth and as the mother body, we won't relax until the battle is won.
