May 2026 SIPDs Post-Implementation Review Meeting Successfully Concludes

The high-level technical session was chaired by the State Immunization Officer, Alhaji Shehu Ibrahim Kazaure, and brought together distinguished participants including the Acting PHC Director, Dr. Sadiya Muhammad, the Deputy PHC Director, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi Bulangu, as well as other senior state technical officials.

The meeting also had in attendance representatives of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), alongside esteemed development partners such as AFENET Nigeria, World Health Organization Nigeria, UNICEF Nigeria, Solina Centre for International Development and Research -SCIDaR, JSI, New Incentives (NI-ABAE), and the Sultan Foundation.

👉Deliberations centered on the following thematic areas:

•Comprehensive SIPDs feedback presentations and performance review

•Critical appraisal of routine immunization coverage and outcomes

•Strengthening and optimization of outreach strategies for enhanced service delivery

•Progress updates on HPV vaccine integration into routine immunization platforms

•Identification, interrogation, and mitigation of operational and systemic challenges

•Strategic formulation of actionable next steps to bolster healthcare delivery

The engagement robustly reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (JSPHCDA) and its partners toward sustaining synergistic collaboration aimed at fortifying immunization coverage, enhancing health system efficiency, and improving overall primary healthcare outcomes across Jigawa State.

JSPHCDA, Lafiya UK Hold BHCPF 2.0 Assessment Feedback Meeting in Dutse

With support from Lafiya UK, the Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (JSPHCDA) today convened a strategic Feedback Meeting on the Expansion of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) 2.0 Assessment at Tahir Guest Palace, Dutse.

The meeting was chaired by the Director of Planning, Research, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, Alhaji Yusuf Bashir, alongside the Lafiya UK team led by Alhaji Nasir Bala, State Programme Manager.

Participants at the meeting included state team members who supervised the assessment exercise, LGA M&E Officers, as well as senior management staff of the Agency. Present were the Director of Pharmaceutical Services and Logistics, Pharm. Muhammad Shehu Ahmad; the Acting PHC Director, Dr. Sadiya Muhammad; the Deputy Directors of Planning, Malam Usman Abdullahi and Alhaji Aminu Shehu; State M&E Officers, alongside other key stakeholders.

Opening remark was delivered by the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Shehu Sambo, where he called on the LGA M&E Officers to carry out their responsibilities diligently and professionally. He further emphasized the critical role of their work in ensuring effective monitoring, accountability and improved primary healthcare service delivery across Jigawa State.

Also present at the meeting was the Senior Special Assistant on PHC to the Governor, Hon. Babangida Lawal Roni, who urged participants to remain committed to their responsibilities and place greater emphasis on data quality at health facilities to ensure accurate reporting and effective healthcare planning.

The BHCPF 2.0 assessment exercise was conducted from 20th to 21st May, 2026 across selected health facilities in the 27 Local Government Areas of Jigawa State. Presentations were delivered by zonal supervisors from Dutse, Ringim, Gumel, Hadejia and Kazaure zones, accompanied by extensive discussions aimed at strengthening primary healthcare service delivery across the state.

In a strategic effort aimed at reinforcing child nutrition interventions and combating the growing burden of malnutrition across Jigawa State, the Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (JSPHCDA), with support from UNICEF Nigeria and in collaboration with Evidence Action, has commenced a two-day State-level Training on Small Quantity Lipid-based Nutrients Supplements (SQ-LNS) and Micronutrient Powder (MNP) to prevent malnutrition in Jigawa State.

The capacity-building programme, which is being held from Saturday 23rd May to Sunday 24th May, 2026 at the Manpower Development Institute (MDI), Dutse, convened nutrition officers, and other critical stakeholders from across the state to enhance technical expertise and strengthen community-based nutrition service delivery.

The training session was officially declared open by the Acting PHC Director, Dr. Sadiya Muhammad, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of JSPHCDA, Dr. Shehu Sambo. In her keynote remarks, she warmly welcomed participants and admonished them to actively engage throughout the sessions and effectively deploy the acquired knowledge towards mitigating malnutrition and improving child survival indices at the grassroots level.

The training is being facilitated by the State Nutrition Officer, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi, alongside Mrs. Shamaki Christiana Dogara and Mrs. Billyok Alheri from the Department of Nutrition, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMOHSW).

Also in attendance were prominent state team members, including the Deputy PHC Directors, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi Bulangu and Alhaji Magaji Uba Ahmad, alongside other senior officials of the agency.

The training is expected to be cascaded to health workers across Local Government Areas of Jigawa State, with the aim of strengthening service delivery and ensuring wider dissemination of best practices in infant and young child nutrition in line with the health transformation agenda of His Excellency, Governor Malam Umar Namadi, FCA.
