GOVERNOR BADARU BIDS INTENDING PILGRIMS FAREWELL

Governor Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has called on Jigawa State intending pilgrims to be good ambassadors while in the holy land.

He made the call when he bid farewell to intending pilgrims from Hadejia, Malam Madori, Guri, Kaugama and officials of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

He urged them to be law abiding in Nigeria and at the holy land.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar also enjoined them to pray for the State and the Country at large.

He was accompanied to the Airport by the Chairman of APC Alhaji Ado Sani Kiri, SSG Alhaji Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini, Deputy Speaker Alhaji Ahmad Garba, Members of the State House of Assembly, Commissioners, Special Advisers and Special Assistants.

JIGAWA STATE GOVERNMENT DISTRIBUTED COMPUTERS TO SPONSORED MEDICAL STUDENTS TO CHINA

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has charged students that are going to study Medicine in China to be good ambassadors of Jigawa and the country at large.

He made the plea when he hosted sixty students that will travel to China under the sponsorship of Jigawa State Government.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar said their selection was done based on merit urging them to reciprocate the gesture.

He explained that the State is proposing a Health Facilities in all the political wards and hard to reach areas in the state, hence the need to sponsor the students to study medicine in order to complement the manpower in the health sector.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar pointed out that the students will be closely monitored in China so as to make them to concentrate in their studies.

Earlier the Commissioner of Health Dr. Abba Z***r Umar called on them to concentrate on studies �as Government will not tolerate laxity.

Some parents commended the State Government for sponsoring their children and wards and enjoined the students to be hard working and dedicated to their studies.

One of the students who spoke on behalf of the students assured the state government that they will make the state proud.

Governor Badaru also presented a Computer to each Student.

The Executive Governor of Jigawa State Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar (MON, mni) yesterday hosted the National Leadership of Igbo World Union (IWU) for a Courtesy Visit led by its President General Amb. (Dr.) Mishak Nnanta at his Office.

Dr. Nnanta who spoke on behalf of the Executive Members of the Union said they were in the Governor's Office to intimate the Governor on their organization and what it stood for, of nurturing and fostering understanding and peaceful cohabitation with other ethnic groups.

He therefore solicits His Excellency's unreserved support to provide the Igbo Community with a piece of land to establish an Igbo School and Cultural Center and also sues for the appointment of one of their own in his administration in order to synergize with a view for economic development and investment.

Responding, Governor Muhammad Badaru expressed his appreciation for the visit and described the Igbo Community in the State as peace loving and vibrant people who invested hugely in the state and contributed a lot in developing the state.

He therefore asked them to continue living peacefully with their host community and also promised to look into their request to see how the government will address their needs.

In a related development, Governor Muhammad Badaru received management of Kaduna based Nigas Rehabilitation and Skill Acquisition Training Center.

The center which was founded by Sheikh Lawal Yusuf Muduru popularly known as Malam Niga said the center was founded to transform and rehabilitate the youths who by one reason or the other happened to be in drugs or other alcoholic addictions including those affected by devils including adults that are affected or infected, and the center also train the inmates in skill acquisition.

He said they visited Jigawa State to inform the Governor on their activities and also sought to partner with the State Government in rehabilitation of Youths who are into drugs to make them useful to the society.

In his response, Governor Muhammad Badaru expressed his happiness for receiving the Nigas Management and also commended them for their transformational gesture of touching the lives of those in abusing drugs positively.

He described their gesture as preventive and corrective responses to violence for security and realising the agenda for peaceful and healthy society.

Governor Badaru however promised to collaborate with the center in rehabilitating the Jigawa State Youths influenced by abusing of drugs in order to reform them to useful and productive people.

JIGAWA STATE EXECUTIVE TO ENACT A LAW TO BAN STREET HAWKING FOR SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN DURING SCHOOL HOURS

The Executive Governor of Jigawa State Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar (MON, mni) said the State Government will look at the possibilities of banning street hawking during school hours for school age children in the state.

The Governor stated this when he received the Executive Members of Jigawa State Civil Society Coalition on Education.

The Governor who described education as critical to national development, said the State Government would explore the possibility of sending a bill to the State House of Assembly to ban hawking to ensure school age children are in school.

Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar noted that education is a collective responsibility from the civil society, community and government.

The Governor who expressed his displeasure over the attitude of some teachers at the rural areas, said a telephone line will be dedicated at the Governor's Office to have firsthand information from communities on teacher's attitude and the state of the schools.
He reiterated the commitment of the administration to work with civil society organization on area of teacher development and inclusiveness.

Earlier in his remarks, chairman of the coalition, Alhaji Bala Usman Chamo said the coalition has being in existence for seven years working with DFID on teachers development in the state on ESPIN Programme.

He said the coalition conducted a research in the state and found out that teachers development and inclusive education to be the bane of education in the state.

The coalition recommended special allowance for teachers posted to hard to reach areas and building of accommodation as well as enacting a law banning hawking by school age children during school hours.

Meanwhile, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar also received the Federation of Nigeria Muslim Women (FOMWAN) Jigawa State Chapter led by Hajiya Binta Muhammad Ƴanleman.

He promised to look into their request with a view of assisting them.

In the meantime, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar granted audience to the Executives of State Chapter of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the Government House.

He pledged to provide office accommodation for the union and urged them to conduct a careful study on where to locate a trailer park.

The union was led by Alhaji Ya'u Haruna Gagarawa.

PRESS STATEMENT

JIGAWA STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 13TH ZUL - QADAH, 1437 AH EQUIVALENT TO 16TH AUGUST, 2016

RESOLUTIONS:
1. The Executive Council has approved a draft law to provide for the harmonisation and collection of ministries, Departments, and Agencies' Revenue in the state to establish State Revenue Advisory. Committee to hear appeals. The Law is set to enhance the diversification of the State economy and raise more Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) especially from non- PAYE revenue sources. The draft will soon be passed to the state House of Assembly for enactment into law.

2. It would be recalled that recently the executive council approved the payment of compensation of structures affected by the on-going township roads construction in Roni, Sule Tankarkar, Maigatari, Hadejia,Malam Madori and Kafin Hausa, the executive council has further approved the payment of compensation of structures to those affected by the township roads construction in Kazaure, Guri, and Kaugama as in accordance with the verification committee report.

Four Hundred and Sixteen(416) structures have been identified in the three towns, all valued at the total sum of One Hundred and Forty Nine Million, Five Hundred and Seventy-Seven Three Thousand One Hundred and Tweenty-Seven Naira only(N149,573,127.00). The break down is as follows:
A. Kazaure- Roads 1,4 and 10 amounts to One Hundred and Twenty Eight Thousand and Five Naira (N123, 828,705.00) be paid as compensation.

B. Guri- Roads 1,324 amounts to Seven Million, Two Hundred and Sixteen Thousand,Two Hundred Naira (N7, 216,200.00).

C. Kaugama - Roads 1,2,324 amounts to Eighteen Million, Five Hundred and Twenty-eight Thousand, Two Hundred and Twenty Two Naira only(18,528,222.00)

3. The Executive Council received with delight from the Honourable Commissioner for Education on the impressive performance of our sponsored students of Jigawa State indegenes at the Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus studying various aspect of Engineering Studies and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The Council directed the ministry of Education to continue monitoring and keeping abreast with the activities of our sponsored students in all tertiary institutions outside the country.

CORRUPTION: CANCER TO THE NATIONAL ECONOMY - GOV. BADARU

The Executive Governor of Jigawa State Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar (MON, mni) has said Corruption is cancer to the National Economy which emanated from poor leadership in the past.

The Governor stated this when he received the newly elected National President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Barr. Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud at his Office on a Thank You Visit by the New President and his entourage who were led by the Jigawa State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Barr. Sani Hussaini Garun Gabas.

Governor Badaru congratulated the new president and asked him to run an inclusive administration for the benefit of the NBA in particular and the nation at large.

Governor Badaru described AB Mahmoud as a total gentleman and a man of integrity whose antecedents bear him witness, as many Lawyers have gained enormously from his mentorship and still continue to learn from the Legal Luminary which he hoped will take the association to a greater height and a during his tenure.

Earlier in his address, the new NBA President Elect said they were in the Governor's Office for a Thank You Visit for the tremendous supports and goodwill accorded to him prior to his emergence.

He said Jigawa State was his first port of call after his victory due to the tremendous support, encouragement and goodwill he enjoyed from NBA members and the State Government as well.

He assured Governor Muhammad Badaru that he will run an NBA that protects and promotes the interests and welfare of its members, but promotes the rule of law and the national interest above all else, and also to reinvent the NBA into a Brave New Bar driven by the knowledge and skills of its Members as a veritable agent for National Transformation, whilst safeguarding the interests of its members.
