Yobe Higher Education Ministry Engages Stakeholders On FG's Digital Economy, e-Governance Bill 2024
The Yobe State Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy has organized a stakeholders engagement on the Draft of the National Digital Economy and e-Governance Bill 2024.
The event which took place at the Olive Hotel's Conference Hall along Gujba Road Damaturu was attended by the State House of Assembly members, academia, Bureau of Public Procurement, and other ICT oriented organizations among others.
The Commissioner of the State Ministry, Prof. Muhammad Bello Kawuwa represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Malam Garba Tahir said the engagement remained crucial in the quest for ensuring a comprehensive input for the bill.
He said as a bill which will touch every aspect of human endeavour need inputs from different experts across the state.
Prof. Muhammad Bello Kawuwa further explained that "For any Nation to join the committee of Nations and become a player in the 21st Century, it most accept the global changes and active player in the Digital Space."
He therefore said, the initiative by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy came at the right time.
Bello Kawuwa said, "Here in Yobe, the State Government under the Leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni is going to leverage on the good Policies in order to reposition Yobe State towards sustainable growth through Development of ICT."
In their Goodwill messages, some stakeholders from the State House of Assembly by Hon Digma Gana, the Academia, Bureau of Public Procurement, and other ICT oriented organizations, stressed the need for better internet infrastructure across the state as well as wider mobilization of people towards using modern technology in day to day activities including government business.
