Press Release!

This is to announce that the Commercial Transport Regulatory Agency (CTRA), in partnership with the Unified Commercial Drivers Welfare Association (UCDWA), has launched a groundbreaking accident welfare scheme for commercial drivers in Cross River State.

As part of Senator Prince Bassey Otu's commitment to the welfare of all residents using commercial vehicles, this pioneering initiative will provide first aid accident welfare services at Asi-Ukpo Hospital, ensuring timely medical attention in case of emergencies.

To benefit from this scheme, commercial drivers must:

•Register with CTRA
Make yearly renewal with the Agency
•Have a branded vehicle
•Register with Unified Commercial Drivers Welfare Association CRS

You will agree with me that Governor Otu's administration has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the people's welfare through various initiatives, including rescinding the 25-year ban on employment into the state civil service and approving major infrastructure interventions.

As chairman of the agency, I assure you that my office will continue to prioritize commercial operator's needs and I urge all to take advantage of this opportunity to brand their vehicles as branding is set to commence tomorrow, October 2,2024.

With this new alliance with the leadership of the Unified Commercial Drivers Welfare Association, I promise more transformative policies to enhancing our operators' welfare and state's prosperity.

Let's work together for a better Cross River

I am pleased to announce that the Cross River Commercial Transportation Agency (CTRA) will officially begin operations in the Central Senatorial District of the state on October 2, 2024. This is a significant milestone for us, as we work to enhance local security and create a safer environment for all our citizens, in line with the People First agenda of our esteemed governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.

This decision was reached during my engagement with key stakeholders in the commercial transportation sector in Ikom, the zonal headquarters with the participation of all heads of the various transport unions, public and private park operators, security agencies, government representatives, traditional rulers, and other local leaders. During the meeting, I emphasized the importance of collaboration in ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties of all Cross Riverians.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Director-General of the DGSA, the staff of the Ikom local government council, our royal fathers, and the security agencies for their invaluable contributions to the success of the meeting, even as I look forward to continued engagement with all stakeholders to positively impact our sector and the state as a whole.

I must also acknowledge the visionary leadership of our Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu. His unwavering commitment to protecting lives and properties in the state has been nothing short of inspiring, and I am deeply honored that he has entrusted me with the responsibility of leading the CTRA.

A special recognition goes to the heads of the various security agencies present during the meeting, including the Commander of the 245 RECCE Battalion, representatives from NSCDC, FRSC, Area Command Ikom, the police divisional headquarters, and the state security services. I must also thank our royal fathers, particularly HRH Prince Njang Nkang-Abang, for their guidance and wisdom.

The feedback from the various stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their gratitude for the engagement. Their pledges of support for this initiative reflect a shared commitment to safety and collaboration. Together, I am confident that under the leadership of the CTRA, we will create a thriving and secure environment for commercial transport operators and residents of the Central Senatorial District.

Thank you all for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Efa Nyong
Chairman, CTRA

The Cross River Commercial Transportation Agency has launched an initiative to enhance the safety and security of commercial transportation operators in the state!

As Chairman of the agency, I express my commitment to ensuring the well-being of our commercial operators, particularly the dispatch riders, hence the reason we're providing branded crash helmets to promote road safety and showcase our state's vibrant tourism!

These helmets aren't just protective gear; they're also a symbol of our rich cultural and natural heritage. We want our dispatch riders to be visible, safe, and to serve as ambassadors of our beautiful state.

İnterestingly, this initiative aligns with Senator Prince Bassey Otu's vision for a safer and more prosperous Cross River State. I urge all Cross Riverians, especially those in the commercial transport sector, to join us in prioritizing safety and and obtain their helmets.
