I am pleased to announce that the Cross River Commercial Transportation Agency (CTRA) will officially begin operations in the Central Senatorial District of the state on October 2, 2024. This is a significant milestone for us, as we work to enhance local security and create a safer environment for all our citizens, in line with the People First agenda of our esteemed governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
This decision was reached during my engagement with key stakeholders in the commercial transportation sector in Ikom, the zonal headquarters with the participation of all heads of the various transport unions, public and private park operators, security agencies, government representatives, traditional rulers, and other local leaders. During the meeting, I emphasized the importance of collaboration in ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties of all Cross Riverians.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Director-General of the DGSA, the staff of the Ikom local government council, our royal fathers, and the security agencies for their invaluable contributions to the success of the meeting, even as I look forward to continued engagement with all stakeholders to positively impact our sector and the state as a whole.
I must also acknowledge the visionary leadership of our Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu. His unwavering commitment to protecting lives and properties in the state has been nothing short of inspiring, and I am deeply honored that he has entrusted me with the responsibility of leading the CTRA.
A special recognition goes to the heads of the various security agencies present during the meeting, including the Commander of the 245 RECCE Battalion, representatives from NSCDC, FRSC, Area Command Ikom, the police divisional headquarters, and the state security services. I must also thank our royal fathers, particularly HRH Prince Njang Nkang-Abang, for their guidance and wisdom.
The feedback from the various stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their gratitude for the engagement. Their pledges of support for this initiative reflect a shared commitment to safety and collaboration. Together, I am confident that under the leadership of the CTRA, we will create a thriving and secure environment for commercial transport operators and residents of the Central Senatorial District.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Efa Nyong
Chairman, CTRA
