EDEVBIE MOVES TO JOIN AGHWARIANOVWE'S SUIT AGAINST OBOREVWORI

By Jimitota Onoyume (Vanguard News Media)

Olorogun David Edevbie who came second in the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State, and who lost his bid to unseat Sheriff Oborevwori, in the suit that ended at the Supreme Court, has applied to be joined in a suit by another aspirant in the governorship primaries, Ikie Aghwarianovwe, also of the PDP.

In the joinder application before a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, Edevbie had sought to be joined as the fourth defendant in suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1857/2022, between Aghwarianovwe, and the PDP, Oborevwori and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as first to third defendants, respectively.

The motion by Edevbie, through his counsel, Tayo Oyetibo, gave 10 reasons for the application.

According to him: "The applicant, plaintiff and 2nd defendant are members of the 1st defendant that contested the 1st defendant's gubernatorial primary election on May 25, 2022.

"On the ground that the 2nd defendant submitted false/forged information and documents in relation to his constitutional requirement to contest the 2023 election to the office of governor of Delta State, the applicant is aggrieved by the 1st defendant's submission of the 2nd defendant's name as its governorship candidate.

"The applicant has filed suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/2033/2022: David Edevbie v Sheriff Orohwedor and two others.

"The applicant has a fundamental right to be heard by the court in the consideration of whether the 1st defendant should be disqualified under section 29(6) of the Electoral Act 2022," the motion added.

David Edevbie Congratulates Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

Thanks Supporters...Says Delta Interest is Bigger Than Any Individual's

Olorogun David Edevbie has congratulated Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on his victory at the Supreme Court in the struggle over the Delta State PDP Governorship candidacy.

In a statement released by his Director of Strategic Communications, Fred Edoreh, the protagonist of the Modernisation Agenda said the judgement of the Supreme Court puts a full and final closure to the dispute and urged Deltans to regard the interest of the state over any above any individual interest.

While thanking his supporters for the massive commitment to his mandate, he wished Oborevwori success in the 2023 Governorship election.

The statement titled For Staying The Course...Thank You" reads:

"Fellow Deltans,
The Supreme Court’s verdict today brings closure to the process of determining the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 Delta State Governorship election. It has undoubtedly been a long, drawn-out struggle in which several long-cherished relationships were strained.

"While the outcome was not what we desired or prayed for, as democrats, we accept it as final. To all our Party members and stakeholders, especially the youth and all the good people of Delta State in general who stood with us in our quest for the opportunity to deliver a modern State, I understand your disappointment. In the words of Senator Edward Kennedy, “the Dream lives on,” even as I say a huge THANK YOU from the depth of my heart.

"Notwithstanding the outcome, we should all stand tall with our heads unbowed in the firm knowledge that we gave it our best. The court of posterity will undoubtedly judge us with favour.

"At this stage, I congratulate the Delta State Gubernatorial flag bearer of PDP, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, and wish him well in the 2023 General Elections.

"Finally, I would like to remind us all that the future of this State is far more important than anyone's personal bias or interest, and I encourage us all to continue to strive for the good of every member of this commonwealth.

"Once again, thank you for your prayers, well wishes, and support!

"God bless you all!
And God bless Delta State!

Olorogun David Edevbie"

Sometimes, the fate of many rests in the hands of a few.
It is in such moments that we are reminded that the choices we make today are seeds.

And these seeds will surely take root and bear fruits that will go on to influence events for generations unborn.

Only the best can do it.

Delta Governorship: Supreme Court Fixes October 21 Judgement Day for Edevbie, Sheriff

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has fixed October 21 for judgement in the appeal filed by the Delta State Peoples Democratic candidate governorship candidate for the 2023 governorship election, Olorogun David Edevbie.

It is recalled that the Federal High Court, Abuja, delivered judgement in favour of Edevbie was upturned by the Federal Court of Appeal in favour of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, prompting Edevbie to proceed to the apex court to seek re-affirmation of his candidacy.

Edevbie, in a 23-ground of appeal filed by his lawyer, Mr. Eko Ejembi Eko (SAN), faulted the entire decision of the three-man panel of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Peter Ige and is asking the Supreme to restore his candidature of the PDP in the election slated for February next year.

After hearing parties at the sitting on October 12, the Supreme Court has fixed the judgement day for Friday, October 21.

Rich, Poor, Old or Young…
The popular statue of Justice is blindfolded because the law is no respecter of persons.

As it stands, the future of our dear state hangs in the impartial balance of Justice and we are positive that with the support of the good people of Delta State and the incorruptible integrity of Nigeria’s judiciary, Truth and Justice will prevail.

His excellency ,Olorogun David Edevbie is an astute financial administrator who will not be borrowing money inappropriately.

He will create wealth for the state and prudently manage the state resources to the full benefits of all Deltans, developing and modernising all parts of our state.

I appeal to all Deltans and resident non Deltans to continue to support him to become our next executive governor of our blessed Delta state come 2023.

It'll only get better going forward by God's grace.

The people of Delta State cannot afford to settle for just anyone at the helm of its affairs.

We need someone who feels the people’s plight and is capable of making the modern Delta State we all desire into reality.

This is why we won’t give up on competent leadership, and ensure that only the best does it.

The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike - CON has proven through his giant developmental strides that the Niger Delta region can be developed with the available numerous natural resources.

His administration has linked up most of the riverine communities to the hinterland. The latest of his gigantic milestone was the completion of the Abonema Ring road in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.

It was built on water and required the creation of an island to hold the road. It is never a misnomer to address Gov. Wike as 'Mr. Projects'.

I call him 'Mr. Talk and do' because he ensured timely completion and commissioning of all the projects he inaugurated.

Olorogun David Edevbie, during his consultation tour told Deltans that he would connect the riverine communities to the cities if elected as Governor. Wike's stellar performance is therefore an eye-opener to Edevbie as he's ready to employ his wealth of experience in the private and public sectors in both local and international organizations to modernize Delta State.

Gov. Wike is worthy of commendation and I can see that Edevbie is readily prepared to take cue from him. With Edevbie at Government House, Asaba, Delta State shall surely wear a new look like Rivers State.

Delta too can be modernized.
