GOVERNOR ENO READS RIOT ACT ON STUBB CREEK, ASSURES OF MORE DEVELOPMENT IN EKET FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
…receives Support for his ARISE Agenda beyond 2027
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has announced plans by government to bring lasting solution to the contentious ownership of the Stubb Creek, calling for calm from interested parties, with the reminder that the disputed area being a forest reserve had since been taken over by government.
He said with crises in the area, it would be difficult for Government to attract investments to the contentious area, and vowed to resist any attempt by any party to erect monument in the contentious spots of the federal constituency.
Governor Eno announced his position today at the Eket/ONNA/Ibeno/Esit Eket Federal Constituency ARISE Town Square Meeting at the Eket Local Government Cenotaph, where over several indigenes were empowered with various grants and items.
Citing patriotism and peaceful coexistence as values that would hasten development in the Constituency, the Governor called on people of the area to allow peace reign, promising to constitute a high powered committee that will explore ways of returning peace to the troubled areas.
He announced his administration’s commitment to massively invest in the area, warned against efforts geared towards sabotaging the government in developing the federal constituency, which he described as his second home, and thanked the people for the reception accorded him in Eket.
“Let me thank you for the overwhelming welcome back to Eket.
I know Nsit Ubium and Uyo is the constituency of my birth, but Eket is the constituency of my rebirth.
“So there is a difference, it is in this land that I cut my teeth of business, it is from here I campaigned and moved to Uyo, I am not surprised,” Governor Eno said.
