KEBBI ASSEMBLY RECEIVES PETITION ON GROSS MISCONDUCT IN MAIYAMA LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

WEDNESDAY: 26th/NOVEMBER/2025.

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has received a petition alleging gross misconduct by the Council Chairman of Maiyama Local Government, Hon. Adamu Aliyu Liba.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Usman Zuru (Lifiddan Zuru), who presided over today’s plenary session, read the petition submitted by the “Maiyama Local Government Progressive Union,” outlining the following allegations:

1) The Council Chairman Hon. Adamu Aliyu Liba took the local government’s 18-seater Toyota Bus for himself, When he was the sole administrator of Maiyama Local Government.
2) Incomplete electricity supply project from Maiyama to Andarai, despite full payment having been made for the contract.
3) Sale of two Caterpillars and a fill-loader belonging to the Local Government.
4) In collusion with his associates, the unauthorized sale of almost all the plots in Dadin Kowa Market within the Local Government.

After reading the petition, the Speaker directed the Committee on Public Petitions, chaired by the Chief Whip of the House, Muhammad Sani Garba Tiggi, to investigate the matter and report back to the House next week for further legislative action.

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, has confirmed the rescue of the abducted schoolgirls from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga. The rescued girls are currently at the Kebbi State Government House, where they are being officially handed over to their parents.

The handover ceremony is being attended by prominent dignitaries, including former Governors Sen. Atiku Bagudu, Sen. Adamu Aleiro, and Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, as well as traditional rulers and government officials.

This development brings joy and relief to the families of the abducted girls and the entire state, who have been praying for their safe return. The Governor's efforts in securing their release demonstrate his commitment to the safety and well-being of Kebbi State residents.

KEBBI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE INVESTIGATES VANDALISM IN FAKAI LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

FRIDAY: 13th/NOVEMBER/2025.

In response to a petition from the Fakai Concerned Citizens regarding the alleged vandalization of government properties in Fakai local government area, the Kebbi State House of Assembly's Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, led by Hon. Salihu Muhammad Dangoje, conducted an on-site investigation to assess the situation.

During the committee's visit to the local government on Thursday, they inspected the ongoing construction of the Earth Dam in Mahuta, which had been awarded by the Local Government Council over a year ago. The committee sought to evaluate the progress of the project, which has been reported to be moving at a slow pace and not reaching an advanced level since the contract was awarded to the contracting company.

Members of the committee then proceeded to the Fakai Local Government Division of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to investigate claims of the petitioners regarding the vandalism of transformers by some unpatriotic citizens of the local government.

The committee also engaged in discussions with key stakeholders, including the Council Chairman, the Chief of the Fakai Chiefdom, Muhammad Hudu Dan Malam, local government officials, and representatives from various security agencies at the local government secretariat. The chairman of the committee, Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje, highlighted the allegations made by the petitioners, which include the vandalization of transformers, the slow progress of the ongoing construction of the Mahuta Earth Dam, and the misappropriation of government's lands. He expressed the committee's commitment to addressing the community’s grievances and ensuring the safety and integrity of government properties.

Teeming number of supporters, friends and political associates of Alh Abubakar Malam Shettiman Gwandu from all the 21 Local Government Areas of the State converged on Birnin Kebbi today to chart ways of deepening cohesion and mutual understanding with the ruling party in the State.

In his keynote speech, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu represented by the Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly Hon Muhammad Sani Lolo buttressed the need for unity peace and harmony amongst APC members in the State calling on all to mobilize towards ensuring successful conduct of the next Saturday's local Government Councils elections in the State.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu commended Abubakar Malam Shettiman Gwandu for the laudable initiative ; urging all concerned stakeholders to give peace a chance for the betterment of the party and Kebbi State in general. He assured that warm reception awaits all politicians wishing to join APC from other parties to make their modest contribution to state development.

TRAINING PROGRAM ON SOLAR INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE KICKS OFF TODAY WITH PARTICIPANTS FROM MAIYAMA, KOKO BESSE AND BIRNIN KEBBI.

Training Program for Youth groups drawn from local Government Areas of Kebbi Central Senatorial Zone commences today in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

The 3 day Training Program on Solar Installation and Maintenance is taking place at Ummul KHairi office of Simba Energy Resource Centre in Birnin Kebbi.

Participants in the first batch are to undergo intensive capacity building on solar system Operations, maintenance and repairs.

Already 10 Participants from Koko Besse and Maiyama sponsored by Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Airforce Hon Shehu Muhammad Wamban Koko have arrived and commenced the training program with others from Birnin Kebbi local Government Area also sponsored by Alh Aminu Sulaiman among others.

The training program will feature practicals on Installation and repairs of solar panels and other equipment.

FACAN ADVOCATES FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF EXPORT PROCESSING ZONE (EPZ) IN KEBBI STATE.

Federation of Agricultural Commodities Association of Nigeria FACAN in Kebbi State has called upon the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority NEPZA to establish an Export Processing Zone for Agricultural Produce in Kaoje axis of Kebbi State in order to maximise the benefits of the Federal Government's economic diversification drive.

The Facility can as well spur accelerated level of export oriented and curtail high volume of smuggling of unprocessed Commodities across Nigeria's boarders with Niger and Benin Republics.

Kebbi State Secretary of FACAN and National Publicity Secretary of NASPAN Alh Abubakar Bagudu Dallatun Kalgo who made the call further stated that with the advantage position of Kebbi State sharing 2 International Boundaries as well as serving as a major outlet to West By land and Water ; quantum of Export activities can be generated out of the abundant agricultural resources such as Shea nuts and butter, Soya beans, sesame seeds, tamarind, Peanuts, Locusts beans, Sorghum, Maize, Millet, Cotton and Fish Products.

Abubakar Kalgo maintained that volumes of informal export activities take place from all major Markets in all the local Government Areas along the two frontiers without due documentation resulting to loss of revenue and data base by Governments at all levels.

As the diversification policy encourages more of value addition : EPZ facility will serve the purpose as well as promote robust agricultural production and entreprenurrship activities aimed at empowering rural Communities and improve their potentials optimally.

"I strongly believe that Kaoje axis has all it takes to host an Export Processing Zone due to it's proximity to 2 International Boundaries, and can be accessible by land and River Niger. Also the abundance of Agricultural raw materials and availability of National Grid in the areas capped it all" He emphasized.

To this end, the National Publicity Secretary appealed to Kebbi State Government to take up the matter with relevant Agencies of the Federal Government such as NEPZA, NEPC, Federal Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, Customs and other Stakeholders to make it a reality.
