Enrolment Campaign Takes Education Advocacy to Bunza Local Government Area

The Kebbi State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady of Kebbi State, Haj. Zainab (Nasare) Nasir Idris, has continued its statewide Enrolment Programme and Campaign for the Enrolment of Children, with the sensitisation campaign reaching Bunza Local Government Area in the Birnin Kebbi Zone today.

The ongoing campaign is being conducted across the various educational zones of the state as part of a deliberate effort to encourage parents and guardians to enrol all school-age children and ensure that they remain in school.

At Bunza Local Government Area, the campaign team engaged community stakeholders and residents, highlighting the importance of education as a foundation for individual development and the socio-economic progress of communities. Particular emphasis was placed on the need for parents to take responsibility for the education of their children by enrolling them in school and supporting regular attendance.

The programme also featured the presentation of relevant educational and support materials as part of efforts to encourage school enrolment and improve the learning environment for children.

The Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Associate Professor Hon Halimatu Muhammad Bande, was commended for her proactive leadership and unwavering commitment to educational development in Kebbi State. Her continuous support for enrolment drives, community mobilisation and other education-focused interventions has contributed significantly to the Ministryโ€™s efforts to expand access to education and reduce the number of out-of-school children.

The engagement attracted the participation of Women Groups, the Director of Universal Basic Education (UBE), his subordinates, community representatives and other education stakeholders. Their collective participation underscored the importance of collaboration between government and communities in achieving the objectives of the enrolment campaign.

The participation of women groups was particularly significant, as mothers and women leaders remain key partners in mobilising families, encouraging school enrolment and ensuring that children attend and remain in school.

The Ministry appreciates the people of Bunza Local Government Area for their support and cooperation and calls on parents, guardians, traditional leaders, religious leaders and community stakeholders to sustain their support for the campaign.

The ongoing intervention is a reflection of the administration of the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu to ensure that every child in the state has the opportunity to access quality and meaningful education.

The Kebbi State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education remains committed to working with relevant stakeholders across all educational zones to promote increased enrolment, reduce the number of out-of-school children and create a stronger foundation for the educational future of Kebbi State.

The campaign, which is being implemented zone by zone across Kebbi State on a daily basis, is aimed at mobilising parents, guardians, community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure that every school-age child is enrolled in school and given the opportunity to access quality education.

The visit to Gwandu Local Government Area formed part of the state governmentโ€™s sustained efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children and promote increased enrolment, regular attendance and retention in schools across the state.

The programme also provided an opportunity for education stakeholders and members of the community to sensitise parents and guardians on the importance of enrolling their children in school and supporting them to remain in school. Educational and support materials were also made available as part of the ongoing intervention to encourage enrolment and facilitate the participation of children in education.

The Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Associate Professor Hon Halimatu Muhammad Bande, was highly commended for her leadership, commitment and continued support towards the successful implementation of programmes aimed at improving access to education across Kebbi State. The involvement of women groups was particularly significant, given the vital role women and mothers play in encouraging parents and guardians to enrol their children, monitor their attendance and support their continued education.

The Ministry calls on the people of Gwandu Local Government Area and residents across the Birnin Kebbi Zone to support the campaign by ensuring that every school-age child is enrolled in school.
