Sallah Message of Felicitation and Goodwill from KECHEMA.

The Governing Board of the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA), under the able leadership of its Chairman, Comrade Abubakar Bala Gado Kamba, alongside the Management led by the Executive Secretary, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, heartily congratulate His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), on the successful completion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The Board and Management commend the Governor for his purposeful leadership, commitment to the welfare of the people, and sustained efforts toward promoting peace, unity, and development across Kebbi State.
They noted that the peaceful and successful celebration of the sacred festival is a reflection of the harmonious atmosphere and good governance being enjoyed under the present administration.
KECHEMA further extends its warm felicitations to the good people of Kebbi State, praying that the lessons of sacrifice, obedience, love, and compassion associated with Eid-el-Kabir continue to guide citizens in fostering peaceful coexistence and collective progress.
The Agency also prayed fervently for continued unity, lasting peace, improved security, and greater prosperity in Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.
Special prayers were offered for Allah’s guidance and protection upon the Governor and all leaders at various levels as they continue to serve humanity.
Furthermore, the Governing Board and Management prayed for the safe and successful return of all Kebbi State pilgrims currently performing the 2026 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, asking Almighty Allah to accept their acts of worship and grant them journey mercies back home in peace and good health.
Once again, KECHEMA wishes His Excellency and the entire people of Kebbi State a blessed and rewarding Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

KECHEMA Management Pays Courtesy Visit to Wife of Kebbi State Governor.

The Management of the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has paid a courtesy visit to the Wife of the State Governor, Her Excellency Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), to formally introduce the Agency’s new leadership and seek her continued collaboration and support toward strengthening healthcare delivery in the State.
Speaking during the visit, the Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, expressed appreciation to the Wife of the Governor for her unwavering support to KECHEMA and the health sector in general. He acknowledged her numerous interventions, particularly her commitment to supporting vulnerable groups through the payment of healthcare enrollment fees.
Dr. Dandare explained that, upon assuming office, the new management embarked on strategic advocacy visits to the Ministry of Health, the Ministry for Higher Education, and Abdullahi Fodiyo University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA), to solicit support for the commencement of employer contributions and the full implementation of the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) across tertiary institutions in the State.
The Executive Secretary further appealed for the support of the Wife of the Governor in facilitating the provision of operational vehicles to the Agency to enhance effective monitoring and smooth implementation of its activities across the State. He also used the opportunity to commend His Excellency, Governor Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the confidence reposed in him through his appointment as the Executive Secretary of KECHEMA.
Also speaking during the visit, the Director of Programmes, KECHEMA, Dr. Suwaiba Labbo Jadadi, further sought the support of the Wife of the Governor toward organizing an Annual Dinner and Fundraising Programme that would bring together political leaders, philanthropists, and other stakeholders to mobilize additional resources for the enrollment of more vulnerable persons into the State Healthcare Scheme.
Responding, the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris, who also doubles as the Founder of NANAS Foundation, assured the management team of KECHEMA of her continued support and cooperation in their efforts toward strengthening healthcare access for all residents of Kebbi State.
She called for unity, dedication, and mutual understanding among members of the management team and pledged to incorporate and promote KECHEMA activities in all programmes and interventions of the NANAS Foundation.

KECHEMA Commences Visitation to Tertiary Institutions Ahead of Full Implementation of TISHIP.

The Management of the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has commenced a series of advocacy and sensitization visits to State owned Tertiary Institutions across the state ahead of the full implementation of the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP).
As part of the exercise, the Management paid a courtesy visit to the management of Abdullahi Fodiyo University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA) to familiarize the institution’s new leadership with the objectives, importance, and benefits of the TISHIP scheme to students.
Speaking during the visit, the Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, described TISHIP as a mandatory social security initiative introduced by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to provide Nigerian tertiary institution students with access to quality and affordable healthcare services.
According to him, the programme pools contributions from students to protect them and their parents against out-of-pocket medical expenses while guaranteeing access to essential healthcare services. He therefore urged the University Management to take advantage of the initiative by enrolling both staff and students into the scheme.
Dr. Dandare highlighted some of the major benefits of TISHIP to include improved students’ wellbeing, financial protection against healthcare costs, and universal access to healthcare services.
In her remarks, the Director of Standard Quality Assurance (SQA), Hajiya Ummu Adamu Yauri, explained the standard quality assurance procedures required before the full commencement of the programme. Similarly, the Director of Programmes, Dr. Suwaiba Labbo Jadadi, called on the University Management to strengthen institutional support in order to fully benefit from the scheme’s healthcare package.
Also speaking during the visit, the Director of ICT Ibrahim Salisu Illo emphasized the need for the implementation of TISHIP in line with the provisions of the new NHIAAct 2022, while the Health Financing Advisor KECHEMA, Dr. Aisha Aminu Senchi, advocated for the inclusion of the University community into KECHEMA’s Informal Sector Plan to further expand healthcare coverage.
Responding on behalf of the University Management, the Acting Vice Chancellor of AFUSTA, Prof. Samaila Arzika Mungadi, appreciated the management of KECHEMA for the visit and commended the Agency for introducing a programme capable of positively impacting the lives of students and staff.
Prof. Mungadi assured the Agency that the University’s TISHIP Committee would be reactivated, the institution’s clinic will be upgraded to the required standard, and adequate sensitization will be carried out among staff and students ahead of the full commencement of the programme.
The visit also featured an inspection of the University clinic as well as the presentation of KECHEMA operational guidelines, relevant documents, and the Agency’s annual calendar to the University Management.

The Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has organised a send-forth ceremony in honour of the former Executive Secretary, Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad, former Director of Planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS), Suleiman Usman Kanya, and former Deputy Director of Standard Quality Assurance (DDSQA), Scientist Ezekiel Tanko Magana.
In his address, the new Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, commended the three celebrants for their dedication, commitment, and selfless service towards the growth and development of the Agency. He particularly described the former Executive Secretary, Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad, as an experienced public servant, scholar, mentor, and comrade, while acknowledging his outstanding record of service to KECHEMA.
Dr. Murtala reiterated the Agency’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all residents of Kebbi State. He disclosed that the full implementation of the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) is underway, while efforts are ongoing to enrol all categories of people, including retirees, and civil servants dependents into the healthcare scheme.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Yakubu Samaila Augie; the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Jibril Labbo Gwandu; the Kebbi State NLC Chairman represented by the Chairman of NANM, Comrade Kelani; and the Dean, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Dr. Bashar Muhammad Augie, all praised the celebrants for their immense contributions to the development of KECHEMA and Kebbi State at large. They also urged the new leadership of the Agency to introduce innovative ideas and strategies towards advancing the Agency’s mandate.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the KECHEMA Governing Board, Comrade Abubakar Bala Gado Kamba, congratulated the celebrants on their successful retirement from service. He also invited Dr. Ismail Chindo Gotomo to offer special prayers for Allah’s guidance, protection, and blessings upon the celebrants in their future endeavours.
Responding on behalf of the celebrants, the former Executive Secretary, Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad, expressed gratitude to the Kebbi State Government for the opportunity given to them to serve in various capacities during their years in public service. He wished the new leadership of KECHEMA success in steering the Agency towards greater achievements and assured them that their doors would always remain open for advice and support whenever needed.
The event also featured the presentation of awards to the celebrants by the Management of KECHEMA in recognition of their exceptional service and invaluable contributions to the Agency.

The Management of the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has called on the Ministry of Higher Education to support the full implementation of the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) across the state.
The Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, made the appeal during a familiarization visit to the Ministry.
He stated that the Agency remains committed to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all residents of Kebbi State, which is the core objective behind the establishment of KECHEMA.
Dr. Dandare explained that TISHIP is a mandatory social health insurance programme designed to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare services to students in tertiary institutions. According to him, the programme pools students’ contributions to cover medical expenses, thereby ensuring access to healthcare services and reducing out-of-pocket spending by parents and guardians on the healthcare needs of their children.
He further noted that the successful implementation of TISHIP would significantly improve healthcare access for students and contribute to the overall wellbeing and academic performance of young people in the state.
The Executive Secretary also made a similar appeal during his visit to the Ministry of Health, where he advocated for the enrollment and coverage of civil servants dependent under the State Contributory Health Scheme through employer contributions.
Responding, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga, expressed appreciation to the KECHEMA management for the visit and for their continued support to the Ministry.
He assured the Agency of the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the implementation of the programme and disclosed that a competent desk officer would be assigned to fast-track its smooth and speedy implementation.
The engagement highlights KECHEMA’s determination to strengthen healthcare services and expand access to affordable healthcare for students, civil servants dependent and residents across Kebbi State.

New Executive Secretary of KECHEMA Embarks on Familiarization Tour.

The Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA), Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, has commenced a series of familiarization visits to key institutions as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and garner support towards achieving the Agency’s mandate.

As part of the tour, the Executive Secretary visited the Kebbi State Ministry of Health and the Department of State Security Services (DSS), Kebbi Command.

During his visit to the Ministry of Health, Dr. Dandare sought the Ministry’s support and cooperation in facilitating the approval for the establishment of zonal offices for the Agency, as well as the commencement of employer contributions for civil servants, among other pending matters requiring approval.

At the DSS office, the Executive Secretary emphasized the need for a strong security partnership to ensure the safety of KECHEMA staff operating both within and outside the state capital.

In their separate remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Yakubu Samaila Augie, and the Director of the Department of State Security Services, Kebbi Command—represented by the Deputy Director of Operations, Mr. Jamilu—expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the Agency of their continued support and cooperation at all times.

KECHEMA Reiterates Commitment to Improving Services Through Supportive Supervision.

The Management of the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has reiterated plans to commence unscheduled facility visits aimed at addressing misconceptions about the Contributory Health Scheme among Healthcare Providers, Beneficiaries, and Ward Development Committees (WDCs). This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery across the state.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, disclosed this during a general staff meeting held at the Agency.
He emphasized that the new leadership is committed to introducing innovative strategies to strengthen the Agency and ensure that all residents of Kebbi State continue to access affordable, accessible, reliable, and quality healthcare services.
Dr. Dandare further revealed plans to deploy Starlink wireless internet services within the Agency to improve staff efficiency and support daily operations.
He used the medium and called for maximum cooperation and support from management and staff in advancing the Agency’s mandate.
Dr. Dandare also expressed appreciation to his predecessor, Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad, for laying a solid foundation for the Agency’s growth and development.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Governing Board, Comrade Abubakar Bala Gado Kamba, urged staff to maintain discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He also commended the State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris, for appointing a qualified medical professional to lead the Agency.

New Executive Secretary of KECHEMA Assumes Office.

The newly appointed Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA), Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, has officially assumed duty.
Upon resumption, Dr. Dandare held separate meetings with the Agency’s Management team and its Governing Board.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the meetings, Dr. Dandare expressed his profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, for the confidence reposed in him through his appointment as the head of the Agency.
He also commended his immediate predecessor, Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad, for establishing a conducive working environment and laying a solid foundation for the Agency. He pledged to sustain and further improve on the achievements recorded.
Dr. Dandare reaffirmed his commitment towards ensuring continued provision of accessible, affordable, reliable, and quality healthcare services to all residents of Kebbi State which serves the objectives of establishing the Agency.
The Executive Secretary further appreciated the Governing Board, led by Comrade Bala Gado Kamba, for the warm reception extended to him. He assured that he would adopt an inclusive leadership approach by carrying all staff along in the Agency’s developmental processes without being selective.
It will be recalled that Dr. Dandare’s appointment was approved by the Governor in a letter dated April 16, 2026, and signed by the Head of the State Civil Service, TPL Malami Shekare.
Prior to his appointment, Dr. Dandare served as the immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association and also a Lecturer and Head of Department of Pharmacology of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi.

The Governing Board of the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA), at its First Quarter 2026 meeting, observed a moment of solemn reflection and offered special prayers for three distinguished individuals who recently passed away. These include the late Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru; a member of the Governing Board, Alhaji Yusuf Musa Argungu; and the former Principal of Kanta Unity College, Argungu, Alhaji Sodangi Bello Diggi.
The Chairman of the Governing Board, Comrade Abubakar Bala Gado Kamba, (Dan Masanin Kyanga) who presided over the meeting, called on board member Mallam Ismail Chindo Gotomo to lead prayers, seeking Almighty Allah’s mercy upon the departed souls and strength for their families, relatives, and associates to bear the irreparable loss.
In his welcome address, the Chairman expressed appreciation to members of the Board for their unwavering support, commitment, and cooperation in advancing the objectives of the Agency. He encouraged them to sustain the spirit of teamwork and dedication.
Also at the meeting, the Secretary of the Board and Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, Dr. Jafar Augie Muhammad, presented the First Quarter 2026 report for deliberation, strategic planning, and proper documentation.
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Zaki Abubakar; the State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Shehu Abdullahi; the Chairman of the Private Hospital Association, Dr. Abdulrahman Godiya; a representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Femi; as well as other distinguished members of the Board.
The Governing Board reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in Kebbi State while honoring the memories of those who contributed meaningfully to the development of the state.
