KEBBI PROCURES FREE DRUGS FOR PREGNANT WOMEN and OTHERS; SUSPENDS PAYMENT FOR REGISTRATION CARD IN ALL FACILITIES FOR ONE MONTH.

His Excellency Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu CON, on Tuesday 16th March 2023 launched drugs procured by Kebbi State Government for use free by indigent patients, in particular pregnant women and children with a value of two hundred million naira. In addition, as a result of the palliative funds he recently approved, all patients are to be given FREE registration cards for a period of one month starting with immediate effect.

At the launch, His Excellency pledged continuous support to the health sector in the state, whilst urging the State Ministry of Health to ensure judicious distribution and use of the drugs.

The Governor commended his wife, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu for her immense support, determination and mentorship towards improving the health status of the populace and specifically her efforts in cancer control and treatment. He said Kebbi state leads in funding drugs and treatment for persons with cancer.

Remarking earlier, the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, said the free distribution of drugs was not the first time of such intervention by incumbent administration. She said “such low hanging fruits help strengthen the health system”. She further explained that the intervention fund of two hundred million naira to hospitals across the state will mitigate difficulty faced by people as a result of the new national currency policy. She welcomed the distribution to 24 General Hospitals and 90 PHCs of sums ranging from N700,000 to N6 Million.

Dr Bagudu also used the opportunity to call on people to vote massively for APC in the Gubernatorial election coming up on Saturday 18th March, 2023 in other to sustain the party’s health manifesto.

In his welcome address, Hon. Jafar Muhammad Commissioner Ministry of Health thanked the Kebbi State Government under the leadership of His Excellency Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for all the numerous achievements health sector recorded.

The launch featured good will measages from partners like World Health Organization Nigeria, Breakthrough ACTION, IHP etc as well as a tour of the medical store. PMOs present returned to their facilities with the free drugs immediately.

KEBBI FOR WOMEN LAUNCHED IN BAGUDO, BUNZA, JEGA AND KALGO LGAS OF KEBBI.

I have spent the last 3 days with the team of Kebbi for Women Project under the State Ministry of Budget and Planning. I joined them to distribute start up funds of N10,000.00 each to women as follows:

Bagudo 1375 Beneficiaries
Bunza 1250 Beneficiaries
Jega 1375 Beneficiaries
Kalgo 1250 Beneficiaries

We received very warm welcomes in all the areas for which I thank Hon Bello Kaoje and his wife Aisha, Hon Bello Rilisco, Hon Hayyatu Bawa Ahmed, Hon Abba Kalgo, Hon Murtala H Jega and so many others.

I pray that the funds will form a seed to liberate these women from poverty.
Kebbi for Women is a program that is capable of providing better health, education, marital stability and nutrition in our communities. I urge that all interested women should contact their local government to form or join the women affinity groups WAG through which clusters are managed. An APC led government is the only way to ensure it’s sustained, so as we head out to elect a new governor on Saturday 18th March, I urge that we vote for Dr Nasir Mainasara Idris.

As always, on a personal note, I was pleased to engage our Royal fathers in all the local governments. Our conversations are always rich and I always come away with increased knowledge. In 8years, I have received immense support from them and will forever appreciate the impact this has had on our success. I am grateful to HRH Mohammed Arzika Bawa, the Emir of Jega.

I am excited by the trend set by H.E. Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in Kebbi of providing the opportunity to younger people to participate and lead traditional institutions. The more responsibility we give the youth, the more they will take ownership of the fate of our country, Nigeria. I remind them of the old adage- to whom much is given, much is expected.

On this note, I joyously congratulate two stellar young emirs in Kaoje- Sarkin Bargu, Mustapha Usman Adamu and Sarkin Yamman Yamusa, Yakubu Abubakar.

LAUNCH OF “KEBBI FOR WOMEN” ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

Coinciding with 2023 International Women’s Day, the Government of Kebbi State under the leadership of H.E Sen Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has flagged off an empowerment program for 2600 women across 18 local government areas of the state.

This is a scale up of the Nigeria For Women project- a World Bank Supported Initiative in 3 pilot LGAs(Argungu, Ngaski and Maiyama)which was developed over 3 years and trained women groups on financial literacy before eventually disbursing 60,000 Naira to 18,000 women in each LGA. The sum is to support petty traders with capital. H.E Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has expanded to the remaining 18 LGAs of the state to reach more women with the sum of 450 million naira.

Her Excellency Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu performed the ceremony on behalf of the Governor at the Women Center on Wednesday 8/03/2023 supported by Hon Abba Kalgo and his team. She expressed her excitement at the initiative which will better the lives of thousands of women. She said that already, 18000 women from each of 3 pilot LGAS, have benefited from the Nigeria For Women Project which has had positive impact in the society. The women popularly known as “mata masu dubu siten” engage in enterprises such as groundnut oil processing and shea butter, now know the value of saving and group investment.

Her Excellency called on the women to vote for APC Gubernatorial Candidate Dr Nasir Idris and all State House of Assembly candidates on Saturday so that such good initiatives can continue.

125 women from each of the 18 LGAs are set to benefit from this round of the program of which 1250 received prepaid bank cards with N10,000 each on the spot. The program is domiciled between the Ministries of Budget and Women Affairs. Similarly, local government chairmen are involved with all the women affinity groups. Kebbi for women is designed as the original world bank program and adequate training has been carried out.

Dignitaries who witnessed the event include wife of the Gubernatorial Candidate, Haj Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen, Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers among others.
