THE BATTLE JOURNEY IN SAMBISA FOREST
BY THE ACADEMY REGULARS
Chapter One: Alpha ! Alpha!
The radio crackled to life, shattering the tense silence at the Nigerian Army headquarters. Captain Dahiru's voice, laced with urgency, burst through the comms system. "Alpha, this is Bravo 125(representing 25 Task Force Brigade), clear. Alpha, we have a situation on ground. We've been hit, Sambisa base under heavy attack by terrorists. I repeat, we need back up NOW! Captain Dahiru, Bravo team."
The operator's voice, calm and collected, responded, "Bravo 125, this is Alpha. Message received. Backup is en route. Hold position, Captain. ETA, 30 minutes."
Dahiru's voice came back, strained, "Alpha, 30 minutes is too long! We're taking heavy fire! We have casualties. Need air support, pronto!"
The operator's tone remained steady, "Bravo 125, understood. Air support is scrambled. Hold tight, Captain. Help is coming."
As the radio fell silent, the ops room erupted into chaos. Soldiers scrambled to their stations, adrenaline pumping. The battle for Sambisa had begun.
Captain Dahiru ducked behind a sandbagged wall, his eyes scanning the chaos. The Sambisa base was surrounded, with terrorists closing in.
"Bravo team, fall back to the meeting point!" he yelled. "We'll regroup and try to break through!"
A rocket-propelled gr***de exploded nearby, sending shrapnel flying. Dahiru grunted, feeling a searing pain in his arm.
"Alpha, this is Bravo 125," he said into the radio, voice strained. "We're taking heavy casualties. Need that air support please!"
The reply came, static-filled but reassuring, "Bravo 125, air support is 10 minutes out. Hold on, Captain."
Dahiru's jaw set. .💥💥💥🏃
