Renewed Resolve for Service: Advancing the SHINE Mandate in 2026: A New Work Year, A Stronger Commitment to People-Centered Governance

As we step into the first working day of the year 2026, it is both appropriate and necessary to approach our duties with renewed confidence, elevated expectations, and a progressive mindset anchored on service. A new calendar year is more than a change of dates; it represents a fresh phase for commitment, accountability, and purposeful governance. With optimism as our compass, we are encouraged to align our collective efforts toward the effective delivery of the SHINE Agenda, the transformative mandate of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State. This agenda symbolizes hope, inclusiveness, resilience, and sustainable advancement for every resident of the state.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation stands as a pivotal institution within this vision, entrusted with the responsibility of touching lives, restoring dignity, and creating opportunities for the vulnerable and underserved. Under the distinguished and proactive stewardship of Chief Dr. Bisi Idaomi, Esq., the ministry has positioned itself as a vehicle for compassion-driven policies and people-centered interventions. Her leadership reflects depth, empathy, and unwavering dedication to social equity, ensuring that governance translates into measurable relief and empowerment across communities.

Chief Dr. Bisi Idaomi has clearly reaffirmed her resolve to labor relentlessly in the interest of the good people of Edo State, leaving no demographic ignored and no voice unheard. The ministry’s approach is deliberately inclusive, extending open doors to citizens across all political affiliations, civil society organizations, development partners, faith-based groups, and private individuals who share a genuine desire to contribute to societal upliftment. This collaborative posture underscores the understanding that meaningful progress thrives on partnerships, shared responsibility, and collective goodwill.

As public servants and stakeholders, this resumption period calls for discipline, creativity, ethical conduct, and unwavering loyalty to the principles of good governance. Every desk, department, and assignment should reflect excellence, transparency, and empathy. The challenges confronting society demand innovative solutions, strategic thinking, and compassionate ex*****on, all of which must guide our daily engagements.

Let this new work year be characterized by diligence rather than delay, service instead of self-interest, and unity above division. Together, through dedication and sincerity of purpose, the SHINE Agenda will not merely exist as a policy framework but will manifest as tangible improvements in livelihoods, social welfare, and human development. With shared resolve and purposeful action, we can confidently contribute to building an Edo State where opportunity flourishes, hope is restored, and progress is sustained for present and future generations.

Happy New Year 2026 Message from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation

As the curtain rises on the year 2026, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation extends warm seasonal greetings to citizens, partners, volunteers, institutions, and every household across our dear land. A fresh calendar brings renewed possibilities, restored optimism, and a collective call toward compassion-driven service. This new season invites reflection on shared responsibilities, moral strength, and purposeful actions that uplift humanity and protect dignity.

The passing year tested endurance, unity, and resolve, yet it also revealed the power of empathy, cooperation, and people-focused leadership. Through various outreach efforts, relief interventions, social inclusion initiatives, and livelihood support programs, the ministry remained steadfast in advancing social equity and easing hardship among vulnerable populations. These achievements were not attained in isolation but through collaboration with selfless individuals, faith-based bodies, community structures, and development allies who believe in a fairer society.

As 2026 unfolds, our commitment deepens toward innovative solutions, transparent governance, grassroots engagement, and sustainable empowerment pathways. We envision communities strengthened by opportunity, families sustained through care, and individuals restored with hope. This year beckons all stakeholders to join hands in promoting kindness, resilience, and shared prosperity.

May the months ahead deliver peace within homes, progress within communities, wisdom in leadership, and abundance through honest labor. Let unity guide our steps, compassion shape our choices, and service remain our watchword.

Happy New Year, and may 2026 reward every good effort with fulfillment and joy.

Signed:

It is a moment to reconnect with family bonds, rekindle friendships, and remember those whose presence shaped our journey, whether near or far. May laughter echo through your home, peace rest upon your heart, and hope illuminate your thoughts as the days unfold.

Government and Faith-Based Partnership Uplifts Widows During Festive Season: Edo Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Spreads Hope This Yuletide

The atmosphere was richly adorned with warmth, empathy, and renewed optimism as widows and economically disadvantaged women were celebrated and supported during this season of festivity. The occasion marked a profound intervention aimed at easing hardship and restoring dignity, as the Functioning Director of Administration of the Edo State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Ms. Joy Izegaegbe, stood in representation of the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Chief Dr. Bisi Idaomi Esq. Her presence at the annual outreach programme organized by the Wealthy Dwelling Place of the Most High Ministry reflected purposeful leadership translated into meaningful social action, particularly through the distribution of vital food supplies to those most in need.

This benevolent gesture resonated strongly with the broader vision of His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, whose seasonal message continues to amplify themes of compassion, shared humanity, and collective responsibility toward vulnerable populations. In a period often defined by celebration and abundance, the initiative served as a reminder that true festivity attains significance only when it embraces inclusivity and empathy. By prioritizing widows and underprivileged women, the outreach bridged the gap between governance, faith-based intervention, and community welfare, creating a platform where kindness was not merely expressed but practically delivered.

The venue, Scout Camp Ground along Ogba axis of Airport Road in Benin City, transformed into a space where generosity took tangible form. The environment echoed with gratitude and quiet joy as beneficiaries received the food items with visible relief and appreciation. For many of the women present, the assistance represented more than nourishment; it symbolized recognition, care, and reassurance that they remain valued members of society. Their expressions, marked by genuine smiles and hopeful glances, bore witness to the profound effect of timely humanitarian intervention.

Beyond the physical distribution of foodstuffs, the outreach fostered a sense of belonging and emotional upliftment. Conversations shared, prayers offered, and interactions exchanged contributed to a collective experience of renewal. The event demonstrated that alleviating hardship extends beyond material provision; it encompasses restoring confidence, rekindling hope, and affirming worth in the hearts of those who often endure life’s struggles in silence.

Personally, witnessing this gathering elicited an overwhelming sense of joy and inner satisfaction. Observing faces once shadowed by uncertainty light up with gratitude reaffirmed the belief that purposeful service remains one of the most powerful tools for societal transformation. Each smile reflected a story of resilience, and each gesture of appreciation reinforced the importance of compassion-driven governance and community partnership.

In essence, the outreach stood as a vivid illustration of humanity in motion—where leadership met service, faith met action, and empathy met real needs. As the festive season unfolds, moments such as these remind us that the greatest gift is the ability to uplift others, and in doing so, create a ripple of hope that extends far beyond the event itself.

Economic Renewal for Widows Through Grassroots Empowerment: Driving Inclusive Growth Across Edo State’s 192 Wards

The recent presentation of a sewing machine to one of the beneficiaries of the just concluded direct empowerment programme by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Edo State, stands as a glowing reflection of purposeful intervention and practical support aimed at strengthening livelihoods across the state. This initiative, designed to touch every corner of Edo State, is structured to continue steadily throughout all 192 wards and 18 Local Government Areas, ensuring that no community is left behind in the quest for economic upliftment and sustainable self-reliance.

The beneficiary in focus, a widow thoughtfully selected from a previously struggling household, represents the very essence of why this empowerment agenda is necessary. By receiving a sewing machine, she now holds in her hands not just equipment, but an opportunity to reshape her economic narrative, rebuild her confidence, and secure a reliable avenue for generating income. Such interventions go beyond mere donations; they ignite hope, restore dignity, and lay the foundation for long-term stability.

Special recognition goes to Mrs. Okodugha, whose constant support for widows continues to inspire admiration and gratitude, Equally, profound appreciation is extended to His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State, whose visionary leadership and commitment to human capital empowerment remain instrumental in making these life-changing programmes possible. His drive to uplift the vulnerable showcases a governance model rooted in compassion, inclusion, and progressive impact.
Indeed, this empowerment programme is not just a government initiative; it is a movement of change, one household, one ward, and one life at a time.
