Edo Tourism Agency Strengthens Collaboration with FADAN Ahead of Creative Summit,
The Edo State Tourism Agency has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth of the creative industry through strategic collaboration with the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN), Edo State Chapter, ahead of the planned Fashion and Tourism Summit scheduled for June.
Speaking during the engagement, the Director General of the Edo State Tourism Agency Lady Vivian Elabor emphasized the importance of synergy between government agencies and stakeholders within the creative industry in driving tourism development, youth empowerment, and economic growth in Edo State.
The Director General noted that the proposed summit would provide a platform for broader conversations around tourism, creativity, and economic opportunities, while further positioning Edo State as an emerging creative hub.
According to the Director General, the summit is expected to create employment opportunities, promote tourism development, and support emerging talents within the creative sector. Lady Elabor further highlighted the importance of media engagement and storytelling in showcasing Edo State’s tourism and creative potential to wider audiences, assuring the association of the agency’s readiness to collaborate towards the successful hosting of the event.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of FADAN, Edo State Chapter, Mrs Edith Abode explained that the association, which has existed nationally for over 36 years, was recently inaugurated in Edo State following extensive preparations involving logistics, accommodation arrangements, and participation by members from different states.
She stated that FADAN is not limited to fashion designers alone, but also accommodates tailors, shoemakers, handbag makers, and other professionals within the creative industry. She stressed the need for increased membership and stronger networking among stakeholders to build a more organized and impactful creative sector in Edo State.
Discussions during the meeting focused on stakeholder engagement and the need to establish a unified platform through which creative professionals can easily connect, collaborate, and communicate with the association’s leadership.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by both FADAN and the Edo State Tourism Agency to sustain collaboration and open communication towards ensuring the success of the summit and advancing the growth of Edo State’s creative economy.
