Edo State Tourism Agency Seeks Partnership With 45th Miss Nigeria Queen

The Edo State Tourism Agency has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the 45th Miss Nigeria Queen, Doris Ogah, in promoting the cultural heritage and tourism potential of Edo State.

The Director General of the Agency, Lady Vivian Elabor, stated this when the beauty queen paid a courtesy visit to the agency in Benin City.

Speaking during the visit, Lady Elabor expressed delight at hosting Miss Ogah, who hails from Edo North Senatorial District, describing her as a worthy ambassador of Edo State.

She encouraged the beauty queen to continue projecting the state positively through her programmes and advocacy initiatives, while assuring her of the agency’s willingness to collaborate with the Miss Nigeria Organisation in advancing the SHINE agenda of the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

According to the Director General, Edo State is steadily positioning itself as one of Nigeria’s leading tourist destinations through initiatives aimed at showcasing the culture, heritage and hospitality of the Edo people.

She added that partnerships with influential personalities such as the Miss Nigeria Queen would further strengthen efforts to promote tourism and attract greater attention to the state’s tourism assets.

Also speaking during the visit, the Executive Business Manager of the Miss Nigeria Organisation, Mercy Umoren, stated that the impact of the pageant extends beyond the reign of a queen, noting that the organisation continues to support former queens in carrying out impactful projects even after their tenure.

She explained that the Miss Nigeria pageant focuses not only on beauty but also on leadership, entrepreneurship, advocacy and empowering young women to harness their talents for national development.

On her part, Miss Doris Ogah disclosed that she runs the Green Girl Foundation, an initiative dedicated to providing menstrual hygiene kits and career development support for young girls.

The beauty queen further stated that she looks forward to partnering with the Edo State Tourism Agency on advocacy programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting tourism, culture and the positive image of Edo State.

Edo Tourism Agency Strengthens Collaboration with FADAN Ahead of Creative Summit,

The Edo State Tourism Agency has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth of the creative industry through strategic collaboration with the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN), Edo State Chapter, ahead of the planned Fashion and Tourism Summit scheduled for June.

Speaking during the engagement, the Director General of the Edo State Tourism Agency Lady Vivian Elabor emphasized the importance of synergy between government agencies and stakeholders within the creative industry in driving tourism development, youth empowerment, and economic growth in Edo State.

The Director General noted that the proposed summit would provide a platform for broader conversations around tourism, creativity, and economic opportunities, while further positioning Edo State as an emerging creative hub.

According to the Director General, the summit is expected to create employment opportunities, promote tourism development, and support emerging talents within the creative sector. The DG also stressed the need for affordability and accessibility to enable young creatives and small business owners to participate fully in the
Lady Elabor further highlighted the importance of media engagement and storytelling in showcasing Edo State’s tourism and creative potential to wider audiences, assuring the association of the agency’s readiness to collaborate towards the successful hosting of the event.

Earlier, the State Coordinator of FADAN, Edo State Chapter, Mrs Edith Abode explained that the association, which has existed nationally for over 36 years, was recently inaugurated in Edo State following extensive preparations involving logistics, accommodation arrangements, and participation by members from different states.

She stated that FADAN is not limited to fashion designers alone, but also accommodates tailors, shoemakers, handbag makers, and other professionals within the creative industry. She stressed the need for increased membership and stronger networking among stakeholders to build a more organized and impactful creative sector in Edo State.

Discussions during the meeting focused on stakeholder engagement and the need to establish a unified platform through which creative professionals can easily connect, collaborate, and communicate with the association’s leadership.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by both FADAN and the Edo State Tourism Agency to sustain collaboration and open communication towards ensuring the success of the summit and advancing the growth of Edo State’s creative economy.

Edo State Tourism Agency Explores Tourism Potential in Gelegele Community

The Edo State Tourism Agency has reiterated its commitment to developing tourism potential across the State following an inspection tour to Gelegele Community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the State.

According to the Director General of the Agency, Lady Vivian Elabor, the tour was aimed at assessing tourism, trade, and investment opportunities in the riverine Community. She expressed delight at the warm reception and hospitality shown by the people of Gelegele Community. She noted that the administration of the Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, is committed to inclusive governance, peace, and sustainable development across Edo State.

In her words, the State Government is determined to harness the rich tourism and cultural potentials of the Community by opening it up to tourism, trade, and investment opportunities. She added that Gelegele possesses a unique cultural heritage and natural attractions capable of boosting the State's Tourism Sector that will attract investors.

Lady Elabor explained that the visit was part of broader efforts to identify areas where Government intervention and partnership could further enhance community development and create opportunities for residents.

The Leader of Gelegele Community, Engr. Pius Donyegha, commended the Director General and her Team for the visit and appealed for sustained collaboration between the Government and the Community towards transforming Gelegele into a major tourism destination. He noted that the Community remains fully supportive of the present administration and its developmental agenda for Edo State.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Community, Omaghomi Olu-Derimon, expressed appreciation to the Edo State Government for the visit and praised the Sen. Okpebholo administration for its commitment to development. He assured tourists, investors, and members of the public that Gelegele Community is peaceful, safe, and suitable for tourism, trade, and commercial activities.
