Governor Okpebholo’s Youth First Vision Shines at Edo NYSC Orientation Camp

Today, I had the honour of representing my principal, Monday Okpebholo, Executive Governor of Edo State, at the 2026 Batch A Stream 2 Orientation Ceremony of the National Youth Service Corps held at the Okada Orientation Camp.

It was a proud and emotional moment wearing the NYSC uniform once again. The uniform stands for service, sacrifice, unity and the boundless potential of young Nigerians. Wearing it today revived powerful memories and strengthened my belief in the ability of our youths to shape the future of our nation.

Standing before thousands of corps members who have answered the call to national service was truly inspiring. Their energy, discipline and determination are clear signs that Nigeria’s future is bright.

Under the visionary leadership of Monday Okpebholo, the Government of Edo State remains fully committed to supporting the National Youth Service Corps and creating opportunities for young people to thrive, lead and succeed. This administration understands that when youths are empowered, society grows stronger.

To all corps members posted to Edo State, I warmly welcome you to a land of culture, opportunity and greatness. May your service year be filled with impact, growth and unforgettable experiences.

Edo State believes in youths. Edo State supports youths. Edo State is building the future with youths.

Minister Abubakar Momoh Receives Edo Youth Commissioner, Backs Strategic Push for Youth Security Summit

The Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, on Wednesday received the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs in Edo State, Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo, at his office in the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, in a high-level engagement focused on youth security and regional stability.

The meeting, held at the instance of the Edo State Government, centered on the proposed Edo State Youth Security Summit, an initiative designed to address emerging security challenges among young people across the state.

During the engagement, the Minister commended the proactive approach of the Edo State Government under the leadership of Senator Monday Okpebholo, noting that youth-focused security interventions remain critical to sustaining peace, economic growth, and social cohesion within the region.

Engr. Momoh emphasized that addressing insecurity requires a multi-layered and collaborative framework, where federal institutions, regional development agencies, and state governments work in alignment to deliver sustainable solutions.

The Commissioner, who had earlier written to the Minister seeking intervention, formally presented the request for a ministerial directive to the Niger Delta Development Commission to partner with the Edo State Government in the planning and ex*****on of the summit.

The Minister acknowledged the strategic importance of the proposed summit, describing it as a timely intervention that aligns with the broader objectives of youth empowerment, community engagement, and regional peacebuilding under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He assured that the Ministry will give due consideration to the request, in line with its mandate to drive inclusive development and strengthen institutional collaboration across the Niger Delta region.

The proposed Youth Security Summit is expected to convene key stakeholders, including youth groups, security agencies, and community leaders, across the three senatorial districts of Edo State, creating a platform for dialogue, policy direction, and actionable outcomes.

The engagement underscores the growing recognition that youth inclusion is central to solving Nigeria’s security equation, and that sustainable peace must be built not just through enforcement, but through participation, opportunity, and structured engagement.

Edo Government Commends Kanyeyachukwu’s Guinness World Record Feat, Autism Advocacy

The Edo State Government has commended Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke for his remarkable achievement as a Guinness World Record holder and his advocacy for autism awareness across Nigeria.

The State Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Honourable Charity Amayaenvbo, reaffirmed that under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, the administration remains committed to promoting inclusion, youth empowerment, and equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of their background or challenges.

Hon. Amayaenvbo made this known while receiving Kanyeyachukwu, an award-winning artist who holds the Guinness World Record for creating the largest painting in the world, measuring an impressive 12,382 square metres.

In his remarks, the Commissioner described Kanyeyachukwu’s journey as one defined by courage, resilience, and extraordinary talent.

“We are deeply inspired by his story. Kanyeyachukwu exemplifies the immense potential of our youth, particularly those with special needs. His achievements affirm that disability is not inability, and with the right support, every young person can attain remarkable heights,” she said.

He further noted that his visit reinforces the government’s commitment to nurturing young talents and celebrating excellence in all its forms.

“His courage is inspiring, his strength undeniable, and his story serves as a powerful reminder that ability transcends limitations. The Edo State Government is proud to support him and believes his journey will inspire millions,” she added.

Kanyeyachukwu was accompanied by his father, cyclist Tagbo Okeke, who explained that his son is on a nationwide mission to raise awareness about autism, with a strong focus on caregiving and the critical role of caregivers.

The delegation also included representatives of RIA by Maria Autism Foundation (RBM Autism Foundation), the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, media personnel, medical practitioners, physiotherapists, and 22 international cyclists.

The 70-member team aims to train and certify 1,000 caregivers to provide structured support for individuals living with autism across the country. The campaign, themed “Impossibility is a Myth,” commenced on March 17 in Enugu, featuring community engagement activities with students and teachers.

As part of the advocacy tour, Kanyeyachukwu is cycling through seven states Enugu, Anambra, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Ogun, and Lagos to promote autism awareness and foster greater understanding and inclusion.
