Edo-CSDA Concludes Sensitization Exercise for NG-CARES 2.0

The Edo State Community and Social Development Agency (Edo-CSDA) has successfully concluded a statewide sensitization exercise for the NG-CARES 2.0 Programme, engaging communities across Edo South, Edo North, and Edo Central Senatorial Districts.

The sensitization exercise was designed to help communities and vulnerable groups understand the goals, processes, and benefits of NG-CARES 2.0, as Edo State prepares for another phase of community-driven development support.

Leading the exercise was the General Manager of Edo-CSDA, Ms. Ivie Idahosa, who emphasized the importance of community awareness and proper understanding of the programme to ensure smooth participation at the grassroots. She noted that NG-CARES 2.0 will continue to provide targeted support to poor and vulnerable households through community-led micro-projects and essential basic services.

Ms. Idahosa was accompanied by the Operations Manager, Barr. Imoudu Longe, and the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Mr. Femi Ekhabafe, as the Edo-CSDA team visited various communities, interacted with leaders, and addressed questions on programme guidelines and community responsibilities.

Across the three senatorial districts, the team guided participants through the programme structure, community-driven development principles, and the role of communities in selecting and implementing micro-projects under Result Area 1 (DLI 1.4).

The sensitization exercise also reaffirmed the Edo State Government’s commitment to expanding support for rural and underserved communities, ensuring that NG-CARES 2.0 reaches the poor and vulnerable effectively.

With the sensitization now concluded, Edo-CSDA will proceed to the next stages of programme preparation and implementation across the State.

The Edo State Community and Social Development Agency (Edo CSDA) has intensified inspection of ongoing community projects across the state to ensure quality delivery and timely completion.

The exercise, led by the General Manager, Ms. Ivie Idahosa, covered several project sites including the Udomi Town Hall, which is now nearing completion. Located in Udomi, the Governor’s hometown, the project stands out as one of the Agency’s flagship community interventions and is expected to be ready ahead of the Governor’s one-year anniversary in office.

At the Udomi site, Ms. Idahosa expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work, describing the town hall as a significant addition to the community’s infrastructure and a reflection of the administration’s people-centred development agenda.

“The Udomi Town Hall represents the spirit of partnership between government and community. We remain grateful to His Excellency, the Governor, for his vision and continued support for community-driven development across the state. This project will stand as a model of what shared commitment can achieve.” She said

She further noted that the facility, designed as a multi-purpose civic and social centre, will serve as a venue for town meetings, youth empowerment programmes and social events, helping to strengthen civic life and unity in the community.

The General Manager and her team also visited the Unuwazi Primary Health Care Centre, as well as the Ehor Town Hall and Electrification Project, where steady progress was reported.

Ms. Idahosa explained that the inspection exercise is part of ongoing efforts to ensure transparency, accountability and timely delivery of projects that directly impact rural communities across Edo State.

Oredo Local Government Team Visits Edo-CSDA

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, I welcomed the acting Chairman, Hon. Gabriel Iduseri and key officials of Oredo Local Government to the Edo-CSDA office on a courtesy visit.

During our discussion, the Oredo team expressed interest in working with the agency to address community needs such as transformers, health centers, renovation of schools, and maintenance of roads. They acknowledged the visible impact of Edo-CSDA’s work across the state, especially as the agency is located within Oredo.

I shared that Edo-CSDA operates through a community-driven process where communities engage the agency directly. We support projects in various sectors except roads, made possible through active community participation, the commitment of the Edo-CSDA team, and the strong backing of our governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who prioritizes grassroots development.

The Edo-CSDA Operations Manager explained the process communities follow to access support, from expressing interest to project ex*****on and maintenance. The Oredo team appreciated the clarity and pledged to work with us toward shared development goals.

I appreciate the Oredo Local Government team for their visit, interest in our work, and commitment to improving the lives of people in Oredo. I also acknowledge their support for the newly elected Ward 10 Councillor, Ehimatie Idahosa, and look forward to continued collaboration for the progress of our communities.

Governor Okpebholo’s Swift Intervention Brings Light to Oguola-Dawson Community — GM, Edo-CSDA

Residents of Oguola- Dawson community in Oredo Local Government Area are finally seeing hope restored, following the prompt intervention of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, in response to their prolonged power outage.

According to the General Manager of the Edo State Community and Social Development Agency (Edo-CSDA), Ms. Ivie Idahosa, the project is now underway following a direct directive from Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo to prioritize the community’s plight.

“This project is a direct result of His Excellency’s compassion and leadership,” Ms. Idahosa said. “The people of Oguola-Dawson cried out, and Governor Okpebholo listened. He not only heard their concerns ,he acted immediately. We are truly grateful.

For over a year, the people of Oguola- Dawson endured darkness after their transformer was stolen. They made their concerns known and His Excellency heard them loud and clear, and instructed us to act swiftly,” she stated

“Once I resumed, Oguola-Dawson was one of the first cases brought to my attention. His Excellency had already given the directive — we were to make this a top priority. And we did.

Thanks to the Governor’s prompt response, the electrification project is now underway. Electricity poles have been erected, a new transformer has been delivered, and implementation is progressing steadily” she added

She further reassured the community that the Agency will follow through until the project is fully completed and power is restored.

The people of Oguola-Dawson have expressed deep appreciation to Governor Okpebholo and the Agency for responding to their long-standing call for help. Many believe this intervention will revive local businesses, improve safety, and bring relief to families who have endured so long without electricity.

EDO-CSDA Trains Ten Communities on Project Implementation

As part of ongoing efforts to improve implementation and sustainability of grassroots development projects across the State, the Edo State Community and Social Development Agency (EDO-CSDA) has organized a one-day capacity-building training for Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) from ten communities.

The one-day training held at the Agency’s office in Benin City brought together representatives from Jagbe, Akugbe, Oguola Dawson, Ehor, Irighon, Owuo, Emuhi, Uwene Illeh 1, Unuwazi, and Ohe communities.

Speaking during the training, the general manager of the Agency Ms. Ivie Idahosa, applauded the participants for their commitment to community-led development. She also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, in promoting grassroots inclusion.

“Initiatives like this only succeed when the people involved are properly equipped,” she said. “That’s why we are here,to give you the tools, knowledge, and clarity you need to manage your projects successfully. With Governor Okpebholo’s continued support, our goal is to ensure that every community project is impactful, accountable, and sustainable.”

Also speaking, the Operations Manager, Barr. Imoudu Longe, delivered a detailed session on the Community Development Plan (CDP) cycle and shared practical steps for ensuring project maintenance and sustainability. The Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Mr. Femi Ekhabafe, took participants through strategies for tracking progress, impact measurement, and fostering transparency.

Participants also attended specialized sessions covering environmental and social safeguards, grievance mechanisms, gender inclusion, procurement, and financial management, delivered by Agency Project Officers.

The highlight of the training was an interactive workshop session where CPMC members shared implementation challenges and received feedback on how to improve project outcomes within their communities.

EDO-CSDA GENERAL MANAGER INSPECTS ONGOING MICRO-PROJECTS IN EDO CENTRAL

The General Manager of the Edo State Community and Social Development Agency (Edo-CSDA), Ms. Ivie Idahosa, has embarked on a comprehensive inspection on sightseeing to assess the implementation of ongoing micro-projects in Edo Central Senatorial District.

The visit was aimed at evaluating the level of project ex*****on, ensuring strict adherence to quality standards, and identifying any challenges that could hinder timely completion, Ms. Ivie Idahosa was accompanied by the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Mr Femi Ekhabafe.

During the tour, the General Manager and her team visited various project sites, including the renovation of primary healthcare centers to improve access to essential medical services, the rehabilitation of school infrastructure to create a more conducive learning environment for children, and the construction of town halls to enhance communal engagement. The team also inspected the provision of transformers to boost electricity supply and the installation of solar-powered streetlights to improve security and nighttime visibility.

Ms. Idahosa expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded in the project sites but reiterated Edo-CSDA’s commitment to quality assurance and timely delivery. She noted that the agency remains dedicated to ensuring that all projects are implemented efficiently and in line with established standards.

“We are committed to delivering high-quality projects that make a meaningful difference in the lives of our beneficiaries. This inspection tour allows us to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, and make informed decisions for future projects. Our goal is not just to implement projects but to ensure they are durable, sustainable, and beneficial to the communities. The inspection tour aligns with the Agency’s broader strategy to ensure that its micro-projects are executed in a manner that guarantees long-term impact. By monitoring project progress firsthand, the agency aims to identify best practices that can be replicated in future projects, address challenges that may arise during implementation, and encourage community ownership to ensure long-term maintenance and sustainability.

The tour covered several communities, including Idumose-Egoronaka, Aigboboh, Eghodaghe, Idaike, Aguni, Uwene, and Ebhoakhuala in Esan West, as well as Okos-Uromi in Esan North-East, and Ujabhole I, Udomi I, Ibhiolulu, Idumoghodor, Unogbo, Afuda-Uwesan in Esan Central.
Edo-CSDA remains steadfast in its mission to empower rural communities. The Agency will continue to monitor and evaluate ongoing projects, ensuring that they deliver the intended impact and contribute to the overall development of Edo State

She further appreciated the commitment of the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support in using the CSDA platform to drive rural development. On February 24, 2025, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State appointed Hon. Ivie Idahosa as the new General Manager of the Edo State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA). The appointment was officially announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Musa Ikhilo, and took immediate effect.

Profile of Hon. Ivie Idahosa

Hon. Ivie Idahosa is a seasoned professional with a strong background in leadership, project management, and community development. Her academic and professional qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Rural Development
• Master’s degree in International Marketing Management from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland
• Master’s degree in Data Analytics and Healthcare Services Management from Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey, USA

• Member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE)

• Career Experience:

Outgoing General Manager: Engr. Osarume Osazuwa

Engr. Osarume Osazuwa, the outgoing General Manager of CSDA, played a key role in numerous community development projects during his tenure. Under his leadership, the agency executed infrastructure projects, water supply initiatives, and rural community empowerment programs that significantly improved the lives of Edo State residents.

During his farewell speech, Engr. Osazuwa emphasized the importance of continuity, collaboration, and dedication in ensuring that community development efforts remain successful.
