EMUMWEN FAMILY GIFTS DIGITAL LIBRARY TO IMMACULATE CONCEPTION COLLEGE, BENIN CITY.
The Children of late Pa. Augustine Ogbebo Emumwen, the first African Vice Principal of Immaculate Conception College, Benin City, (ICC), are putting arrangement in top gear to honour the memorial of their father as well as the Centennial birthday of their mother who clocks 100 in May, 2022.
The twin events to mark mama's birthday will be the commissioning of a furnished e-library donated by the children to Immaculate Conception College, Benin City, where their late father held sway as the first African Vice Principal of the school from 1963 - 1974.
Immaculate Conception College is a Catholic institution based in Benin City, which at inception had Britons as school administrators.
The Archbishop of Benin City & President, Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Akubeze is expected to commission the digital library on Friday 18th February, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception College, Benin City, Edo State at 10am.
Media spokesperson for the event, Osaretyn ERO quotes the Rev. Fr. Dr. Victor Emumwen, eldest son of late Pa. Augustine Emumwen as saying that "the donation of the library is a token of our appreciation to the school and the society at large to upscale education, a legacy our late father cherished & lived for till he rested in the Lord" he said.
According to the Catholic Priest, "our late father shaped our lives for good & equally assisted to give meaning to the education of several notable Nigerians who were his pupils at Immaculate Conception College then known as Bishop Kelly College hence the donation of the library.
The gift of the e-library is also a way to stimulate other Nigerians to give back to the society particularly in education.
The digital library is being sited in the school where pupils & teachers will further enhance their research and learning.
Dr. Emumwen said the better half of their late father, the Centennial Queen, Lady Mrs. Bernadette Aghayedo Emumwen will on Saturday 19th February, 2022 attend a special Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, First East Circular Road, Benin City at 10am to mark mama's 100 years of life on earth.
The Centennial Queen's birthday celebration will be climaxed with reception for guests at the prestigious Emporium, JBS Estate, off Boundary Road, GRA., Benin City, Edo State.
