GOV SIR WILLIE OBIANO: DIARY OF A WORKING GOVERNOR.
It is no longer news that the entire nation is on lockdown at the moment. However, this did not deter the performing governor His Excellency; Chief Sir Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano who has since mobilized and directed contractors to return to site and ensure they do some reasonable work before the peak of rainfall.
On April 25th the governor supervised the Aguleri Uno-Aguleri Otu Oil Rig road which is now being undertaken by Tamad Construction Company Ltd.
On the 28th of April, the workaholic governor was at Anambra West to inspect the ongoing work at Mmiata-Nzam road as the contractor handling the project promised that the 120 metres long bridge linking Mmiata to Nzam will be completed in 4weeks period. Also earth work has been done on 8 kilometres of the road leading to Nzam.
April 28th, would be adjudged the most joyful day for Ayamelum people as the 6.3 kilometre Aguleri-Ayamelum Expressway was flagged off by the governor in fulfilment of his promise to Ayamelum people during his 2017 second tenure election campaign. Good thing about the Ayamelum road flag off is that the contractor handling the project; Army Engineers are very reliable in quality assurance through all their jobs.
On 30th of April, His Excellency the governor was at Nnewi to inspect the ongoing 100 Foot Road Nnewi Erosion Control Project. Recall that the erosion at that location was posing serious threat to residential building within the axis and majorly to Nkwo Nnewi Market which is one of the biggest markets in present day Nigeria. While extolling our amiable governor for coming to the aide of commercial nerve centre, Hon Nonso Smart Okafor; the honourable member representing Nnewi North at the State House of Assembly said:-
βThe ongoing construction works on the Storm Water Diversion Deep Channel on the Fifty (50) Feet Deep 100-Foot Road Gully Erosion, Uruagu Nnewi will bring lasting solution to the problems of erosion menace in the area. The project which will cost N4Billion has succeeded in almost reclaiming the gully through the importation of laterite and compaction with careful channelization of the stormwater in a number of drainsβ
Unlike many states throughout the federation, our amiable governor has made sure the Covid-19 scare does not constitute constraint to his work for the good people of the state. On May 1st the Governor at his country home in Aguleri addressed Ndi Anambra yet again giving them hope that while he will tighten security maintaining no entry into the state through any of its border communities, he will ease the lockdown within the state to enable civil servants resume work. He has as well trained covid-19 task force across the markets in Anambra to enable traders get back to business.
Gov Sir Willie Obiano is one of the most proactive governors presently, considering efforts he put in place to ensure the one index case of corona virus in the state is contained, treated and discharged thereby making our beloved state corona virus free at the moment. In his magnanimity, he has made provision for palliative of 108,600 bags of 10kg rice,1448 cartons of tin tomatoes, 905 bags of salts, detergents, soaps, etc which is presently being distributed to the elderly and youths of the state to cushion the effect of the earlier strict lockdown across the state. This is a true indication that our governor; Sir Willie Obiano is truly working!
