BREAKING:

Airtight Guest House and Bar, located around Y-Junction, Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area is currently being demolished by Anambra State Government for being used for unlawful activities, including the large sale of illicit drugs and prostitution, following the raid of the place on Saturday night by Agunaechemba Security Personnel and the discovery of large consignment of illegal drugs, a gun and prostitutes, who use the place for lodging and suspected criminal activities.

The destruction is being led by the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, who explained that activities going on in the building runs foul of the homeland security law, reasons the government is destroying the building and the land will now be forfeited to the state government, warning landlords and land owners to always inspect their structures to know what they are being used for and what the tenants do.

There is no Anambra state government worker who works at the Secretariat that can comfortably come to work from Monday to Friday judging from the little salary they earn, except for those women who are married to wealthy husbands. I have been there, and I know what is involved. Some of those women are just doing state job to pass time. The real hustlers who depends on that job for survival can hardly cope

For the record, a decent one bedroom flat in Awka goes for 500k to 1.8 million. Depending on the location of your choice, and nature of the building. In other to balance themselves, this civil servants go to semi urban towns around awka capital territory to seek for cheaper accommodations. Towns like Nibo, Amansea, Nise, Agulu, Enugu ukwu, Abagana, Awkuzu, Mgbakwu, Isu and Okpuno etc

Using Nibo as a case study, with the recent hike in fuel price, a civil servant who works at the secretariat and lives at Nibo will spend nothing less than 2k daily. Minus other small small expenses. That's 10k a week and 40k a month.

If you calculate the money for their rent, a person who pays 300k for instance will have to save 25k every month to enable them meet up at the end of the year.

40k plus 25k is 65k. So the average civil servant that works in that secretariat spends 65k minimum monthly. The interesting part is that some or a better percent of those worker do not earn up to 100k as salary. So, tell me the motivating factor that will trigger them to be going to work early or everyday. Some have family of 4 that are dependant on them. There is a reason why you hardly see them showing interest in Anambra state government job, especially secretariats. I see them everyday by the roadside begging Keke drivers to accept cheaper from them. I know many of them that I have dropped off at that secretariat on several occasions. Some treks from Amawbia to express just to manage. Some begs random people for lifts. They are suffering. It's not easy on them

Dear Charles Chukwuma Soludo, increase the salaries of your workers. Provide them with busses that will drop them off and pick them up at work. Do something about the expensive rents in Awka and Anambra state. I doubt a civil servant hustling legitly in Anambra can build a 2 room apartment throughout their service year without eating sand.

It's not enough to suspend them for months without pay. There should be motivating measures put in place. Have you ever seen those who work in those lucrative organizations with good pay dodging work? When you were CBN governor, did anyone have to threaten you before you showed up at your work place?

Do something about their welfare. Obodo bụ igwe

TODAY IN HISTORY – March 15, 1957

One of the most unusual political battles in Nigeria’s history happened on this day in 1957.

Dr. Alvan Ikoku, a respected educator, nationalist, and politician whose image later appeared on the Nigerian ₦10 note, contested a seat in the Eastern House of Assembly. But in a dramatic twist of history, his opponent was his own son — Samuel Goomsu Ikoku (S.G. Ikoku).

In that historic election, S.G. Ikoku defeated his father, turning a father-and-son relationship into one of the most talked-about political rivalries of the time. It was a powerful moment that showed how politics in Nigeria’s First Republic could even divide families in the struggle for leadership and ideas.

Samuel Ikoku later became a well-known intellectual, labour activist, and socialist thinker, while Dr. Alvan Ikoku remained one of Nigeria’s most respected pioneers in education and politics.

History reminds us that democracy can produce surprising moments — even when it happens within the same family.

Did you know about this father-and-son political contest before today?

Commission Of Inquiry Into Awka Traditional Stool Ends Public Hearing

By Ngozi Obileri (ABS News)

The Commission of Inquiry into the traditional stool of Awka will submit it's report to Governor Chukwuma Soludo before the 17th of March, 2026.

Chairman of the Commission, Justice Paul Obidigwe (retired) flanked by other members of the commission made this known at the end of the day two of the public hearing into the issue held at the Amphitheater, Light House Awka, where he said that the commission received thirty-two memoranda, which they read and listened to one after the other since the first day of the hearing.

He explained that now that hearing has come to an end, they would go back and put all they have heard together, and work with the Anambra State traditional rulers law and and Awka traditional law, and come up with a report and recommendation in accordance with their terms of reference.

Speaking during the hearing, the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka, who is a member of the commission, called on the people of Awka to sue for peace as without peace, no society will progress, reminding them that only one person will be their traditional ruler at a time for their own good, appreciating Ndi Awka for coming for the hearing and presenting their memoranda.

The President General of Awka Development Union Nigeria, Mr. Frederick Chinwuba, and a stakeholder in the community, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe, appealed to Ndi Awka to be calm so the commission will settle the dispute once and for the good of their community, urging the commission to remain unbiased and bring lasting peace to Awka.

The commission earlier heard from groups and individuals whose memoranda were not called yesterday, including the Traditional Prime Minister of Awka, Chief Benjamin Okoye, bringing the public hearing to a close.

Leaked Nigeria Police Force Report Reveals 11 Custody Deaths in Awkuzu RRS between March and December 2022 under the watch of Three Notorious Police Officers, CSP Patrick Agbazue, SP Nkeiruka Nwode, and Inspector Harrison Akama, as Whistleblower Nnamdi Emeh Remains Detained Despite Bail

I have obtained an interim investigation report issued from the office of the Inspector-General of Police at the headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja. The document examined allegations arising from a social media campaign that accused officers of the Rapid Response Squad/Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Awkuzu, Anambra State, of serious abuses, including extrajudicial killings and organ harvesting.

The report, signed by Idris Abdullahi Abubakar, was circulated internally to senior police leadership for action, but was never made public neither was action taken against the policemen.

The case is linked to Suit No. FHC/AWK/60C/2023 before the Federal High Court in Awka.

According to court records:

Whistleblower Nnamdi Daniel Emeh was granted bail on May 17, 2023 by Justice F. O. Riman (now late).

His bail conditions were perfected in May 2024, and a release order was signed by Justice S. M. Shuaibu.

Despite this, the police obtained an ex parte motion blocking his release, and he has remained in custody ever since.

Although the report appears to attempt to minimize the allegations against these officers, it nonetheless identifies serious misconduct, egregious acts involving three officers of the Awkuzu unit: CSP Patrick Agbazue, SP Nkeiruka Nwode (popularly known as “Ruka”), and Inspector Harrison Akama.

The report acknowledges that at least eleven suspects died in police custody between ,, with the deaths classified as “sudden and unnatural.” It also revealed that the Awkuzu unit failed to maintain mandatory police records, including cell registers, crime diaries, station diaries, and prisoner lock-up registers—failures that investigators said made accountability and oversight extremely difficult.

Rather than focus on these findings, the investigation centered heavily on the role of Nnamdi Emeh, who had previously served as a corps member attached to the unit in an IT capacity. According to the report, Emeh allegedly had access to sensitive operational information and later used that access to launch a social media campaign accusing officers of grave crimes.

Police traced the dispute to the arrest of a suspect identified as Chibuike Ekweme, also known as “Temple,” described as a gun runner and suspected member of IPOB/ESN. During that investigation, Emeh reportedly handled the suspect’s mobile phones for forensic analysis. The report alleges that instead of conducting legitimate analysis, he hacked the device and arranged the transfer of ₦36 million from the suspect’s account to a bureau-de-change operator, allegedly retaining ₦4 million for himself before fleeing.

Following the incident, police arrested several individuals linked to the transaction, including a bureau-de-change operator and a bank employee. They were charged with conspiracy and murder and remanded at the Onitsha Correctional Centre, though their families later claimed they could not determine their whereabouts after the arrests.

Emeh subsequently began publishing allegations online accusing officers of the Awkuzu unit of extrajudicial killings and organ harvesting. The posts circulated widely on social media platforms, including Gistlover, prompting eighteen complaints from members of the public alleging brutality and misconduct by officers of the unit.

While the report rejected the allegation of organ harvesting, it confirmed serious operational failures within the police unit. Investigators found repeated violations of policing procedures, disregard for human-rights safeguards, and systemic failures in record-keeping.

The report recommended that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 13, Ukpo, and the Anambra State Police Command submit documentation relating to the eighteen complaints received against the officers. It also recommended reorganizing the Awkuzu Rapid Response Squad to align with international policing standards and Nigeria’s criminal justice laws.

Further recommendations included briefing the public on the investigation to calm tensions and defending civil suits filed by families of detainees who allegedly died in police custody. Pending the outcome of the investigation, the report recommended redeploying CSP Patrick Agbazue, SP Nkeiruka Nwode, and Inspector Harrison Akama from Zone 13 to Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The report concluded that the Inspector-General of Police had reviewed and upheld its recommendations.

However, rather than leading to accountability for the officers implicated in the investigation, the whistleblower, Nnamdi Emeh, became the central target of prosecution. Despite being granted bail and fulfilling the court’s conditions, his release was halted by an ex parte order obtained by the police, and he has remained imprisoned since 2024 while the officers named in the report have continued their careers within the police force.

P.S: LET ME STATE THAT I COULD NOT GET THE FULL REPORT AS IT WAS MUTILATED BY THE POLICE HIERARCHY, HELLBENT ON SHIELDING THESE OFFICERS AND BURNISHING THE IMAGE OF THE POLICE

Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS. He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do. This is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country. We are hearing that many of their IRGC, Military, and other Security and Police Forces, no longer want to fight, and are looking for Immunity from us. As I said last night, “Now they can have Immunity, later they only get Death!” Hopefully, the IRGC and Police will peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots, and work together as a unit to bring back the Country to the Greatness it deserves. That process should soon be starting in that, not only the death of Khamenei but the Country has been, in only one day, very much destroyed and, even, obliterated. The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Anambra Court Jails Orient Petroleum MD, One Other 14 Years for N25billion Fraud

Justice O. M. Anyachebelu of the Anambra State High Court sitting in Awka has convicted and sentenced Engineer Nnaemeka Nwawka, managing director, Orient Petroleum Resources Plc, and Sage Nebefeife Foundation to fourteen years imprisonment each for stealing, conversion and gratification to the tune of N25billion.

They were jailed after being found guilty of ten-count charges bordering on stealing, conversion and gratification.

Count one of the charges reads: “That you NNAEMEKA NWAWKA, JUDE ANNIEKWE CYRIL and THE REGISTERED TRUSTEES OF SAGE NEBEIFE FOUNDATION sometimes between 23rd April to 21st December, 2012 in Anambra State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court fraudulently converted to your personal use the aggregate sum of N82,856,934 (Eighty Two Million, Eight Hundred and Fifty Six Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty Four Naira) only which sum was transferred from Vhelbherg International Limited company account domiciled in Standard Chartered Bank account No. 0000777216 into the account of Sage Nebeife Foundation Domiciled in First Bank account No. 2017452111.”

Count two reads:

“That you NNAEMEKA NWAWKA, JUDE ANNIEKWE CYRIL and THE REGISTERED TRUSTEES OF SAGE NEBEIFE FOUNDATION sometimes between 8th January to 24th May, 2013 in Anambra State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court fraudulently converted to your personal use the aggregate sum of N29,620,733 (Twenty Nine Million, Six Hundred and Twenty Thousand, Seven Hundred and Thirty Three Naira) only which sum was transferred from Vhelbherg International Limited company account domiciled in Standard Chartered Bank account No. 0000777216 into the account of Sage Nebeife Foundation Domiciled in First Bank account No. 2017452111”

They pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to them, prompting the EFCC, through its counsel, Victor Ukagwu to go into full trial with him. The trial lasted ten years. The EFCC called four witnesses and tendered several documentary evidence admitted and marked exhibits p1 to p24. The evidence showed how Nwawka ensured that contracts were awarded to his friend’s companies from Orient Petroleum Resources Plc, how monies were paid to the companies and eventually returned to him through his Foundation and how he withdrew the said monies and used them for his personal needs.

Counsel to the first and third defendants, U. N. Udechukwu, SAN, and counsel to the second defendant, E.S.C Obiora, SAN, held briefs for their clients, offering defences on how the contracts were handled. However, Justice Anyachebe found two of the defendants guilty and convicted them accordingly.

The court held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and therefore sentenced Nwawka and his Foundation to 14 years imprisonment. The court also ordered the convict and his Foundation to refund the sum of 140, 900, 000 (One Hundred and forty million, Nine hundred Thousand Naira) to Orient Petroleum Resources Plc.

Nwawka and his co-travelers bagged their imprisonment when one of the investors in his company, Chief Cletus Ibeto petitioned the Commission that he invested the sum of N25billion into Orient Petroleum Resources Plc but Nnawka through award of suspicious and bogus contracts to his friend’s companies, got most of the monies back through his Sage Nebefeife Foundation.
