REASON HON. SIR CHARLES UCHENNA OKAFOR (WIPER) DESERVES THE MANDATE OF NDI OYI AND AYAMELUM
The political landscape of Oyi/Ayamelum Constituency is intertwined with the name "WIPER". Since the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999, Hon. Charles Okafor (Wiper) has been a pivotal figure in shaping the political landscape of the two local government areas that make up the federal constituency.
From 1999 to 2010, the House of Representatives seat was held by Oyi for 12 consecutive years, until Wiper stepped in and convinced Oyi and other stakeholders to allow Ayamelum to have the opportunity to hold the seat, as it is meant for representation of both local government areas. Wiper did this because he viewed the two local government areas as political and blood brothers from the same Omambala region.
Thanks to Wiper's efforts, Ayamelum was represented by Hon. Chizoba L Obidigwe from 2011 to 2015, followed by Hon. Gabriel Onyewife from 2015 to 2019 and currently by Hon. Vincent Ekene Ofumelu, whose term will end in June 2023. This will adjust the balance of political representation between Oyi and Ayamelum to 12 years each.
It is clear to the people of Oyi/Ayamelum Constituency that Oyi has seniority in political representation. It is now time for the position to return to Oyi and Hon. Okafor is well positioned to efficiently carry out the job, given his past experiences as former Chairman of Oyi Local Government and Commissioner for transport and commerce. He is also known as a paragon of evidence-based performance or leadership.
Oyi/Ayamelum Constituency owes it to Wiper to repay him for his sacrifices and advocacy for political equity. One good turn deserves another.
Let's make it happen and send Wiper to the green chamber to represent us. With Wiper, Oyi/Ayamelum will be great.
