NYCN Honours Okakuro Onoriode Sunday, On His Birthday

The Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN), has honoured Okakuro Onoriode Sunday during activities marking his birthday, in recognition of his sustained engagement with and support for the youth constituency in Delta State.

The celebration began at his Abraka country home and later continued at his Asaba residence, where members of the youth leadership joined associates and wellwishers to acknowledge his mentorship, accessibility, and consistent encouragement of youth-driven initiatives across the state.

At the Abraka residence, the Council mounted a Guard of Honour as a mark of respect. The ceremonial parade, conducted by the Ethiope East Command of the Boys Brigade Nigeria in collaboration with members of the Scout Association and Man O War, was formally inspected by Chief Omajuwa.

Speaking during the ceremony, the State Chairman of NYCN Delta State Council, Comr. Sagboje Odiri Milton, described the celebrant as a dependable ally of the youth constituency whose guidance and support have strengthened youth leadership structures and participation across Delta State.
He expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the confidence reposed in the celebrant and for creating an enabling environment that allows meaningful youth-government engagement to thrive.

Comr. Sagboje reaffirmed the strong support of the NYCN and the broader youth constituency for the Oborevwori administration, pledging sustained cooperation in advancing the Renewed Hope vision and the M.O.R.E. Agenda, which prioritise peace, opportunity, realistic reforms, and enhanced development in the state.

The celebration later moved to the Asaba residence, where the Council presented a commemorative token in appreciation of the celebrant’s continued encouragement and strategic engagement with youth leaders.

The Council congratulated Chief Onoriode Sunday and wished him continued good health and sustained impact in service to the youth constituency and Delta State.

Joining the State Chairman at both engagements were the State Deputy Chairman, Comr. Benjamin Okotie Omatseye; the State Secretary, Micheal Chukwuemeke Onyimah; the State Public Relations Officer, Comr. Henry Efe; State Auditor II, Comr. ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY: NYCN DELTA SALUTES FALLEN HEROES, COMMENDS GOV. OBOREVWORI ON YOUTH MILITARY RECRUITMENT DRIVE

AS Nigerians marked the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria,(NYCN) has paid glowing tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes, describing their sacrifice as the foundation of Nigeria’s unity, peace and continued existence.

In a goodwill message to commemorate the day, State Chairman of the Council, Comr. Sagboje Odiri Milton, CLN, said the day was not just ceremonial but a moment of deep reflection on the courage, discipline and patriotism of officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces who paid the supreme price in defence of the country.

He noted that the fallen heroes “stood firm in the face of danger and chose duty over life itself,” stressing that their bravery laid the groundwork for peace, democracy and national stability. He also lauded serving and retired military personnel for their continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country, often under extremely challenging conditions.

The Deputy National Secreatry of the Forum of NYCN States chairmen further expressed heartfelt sympathy to families of fallen heroes, assuring them that the nation remains eternally grateful for their sacrifice.

In the same vein, Sagboje commended the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for his massive support and sustained encouragement of young Deltans to enlist in the Nigerian military, describing the gesture as a strategic investment in youth empowerment and national security.
According to him, the governor’s proactive stance has not only opened opportunities for young people to serve their fatherland with honour but has also reinforced discipline, patriotism and a sense of purpose among the youth population in the state.

He called on Nigerian youths to draw inspiration from the values exemplified by the armed forces and urged them to embrace patriotism, unity and peaceful coexistence, while rejecting violence and all forms of social vices.

Sagboje reaffirmed the commitment of the NYCN Delta State Council to youth sensitisation, value re-orientation, peacebuilding and nation-building initiatives, while praying for the peaceful repose of the souls of all fallen heroes and a safer, more united Nigeria.

Yesterday at Ogbe-Udu, Udu LGA, the State Chairman of the Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN), Comr. Amb. Sagboje Odiri Milton, CLN, joined well-meaning Deltans to pay final respects to Late Engr. James Goru, who peacefully transitioned at the age of 78.

Late Engr. James Goru was the beloved father of our dear friend and brother, Hon. Jonathan O. Goru , Commissioner representing Udu, Ughelli South, Uvwie, and the Urhobos of Warri South on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

We stand in solidarity with the Goru family at this moment of deep loss and pray that God grants them comfort, strength, and the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

May the soul of papa rest in perfect peace.

Sagboje bags Top Ghanaian Award for Outstanding Youth Leadership

The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Council, Comr. Sagboje Odiri Milton, CLN, has been honoured with the prestigious Youth Leadership Excellence Award by the National Association of Ghanaian Communities in Nigeria (NAGHACON).

The award was presented during the 21st National Delegate Conference and 30th Anniversary Celebration of NAGHACON, an event that brought together representatives of Ghanaian communities, development partners, and dignitaries from across Nigeria. The ceremony, held amid rich cultural displays and reflections on NAGHACON’s three decades of impactful service, marked a significant milestone in strengthening Ghana–Nigeria relations at the grassroots level.

Presenting the award onbehalf of the Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Alhaji Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, the President of NAGHACON, Patriot Frank Ekow Quaye, described Comr. Sagboje as “a dynamic, visionary, and selfless youth leader whose work has extended beyond borders.” He noted that the honour was in recognition of Sagboje’s consistent advocacy for youth inclusion, promotion of peace and community cohesion, and strategic interventions that continue to uplift thousands of young people across Delta State.

According to Quaye, NAGHACON celebrate people who demonstrate integrity, compassion, and a people-centered approach, qualities he said reflect the hallmark of Comr. Sagboje’s leadership style.

In his acceptance remarks, Comr. Sagboje expressed profound gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a validation of the collective efforts of youth stakeholders across Delta State. He emphasized that the award would serve as renewed motivation to advance youth engagement, social responsibility, and regional cooperation. "I am profoundly honoured by this recognition from NAGHACON. This award is not just about me; it represents the strength and resilience of Delta State youths whose passion continues to drive our work. I dedicate this honour to our visionary leader, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State, whose commitment to youth development creates a thriving environment for innovation and inclusion. I also dedicate it to the entire youth constituency of our state.”

Comr. Sagboje reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening partnerships with communities, institutions, and development stakeholders, stressing that youth development must remain a shared responsibility.

NYCN PRAISES UGHELLI NORTH BOSS FOR SPONSORING YOUNG LEADERS TO NIPSS

The Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has commended the Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Olorogun Jaro Egbo , for sponsoring Hon. Ese Agbobore and several other youths to undertake a prestigious course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

In a statement issued on Saturday, the NYCN Delta State Chairman, Comr. Sagboje Odiri Milton, CLN, described the gesture as an outstanding investment in human capital development and an inspiring example of visionary leadership.

He noted that the beneficiaries participation in a NIPSS course will significantly improve their leadership capacity, expand their knowledge of public policy, and prepare them to contribute meaningfully to national development. “We heartily commend Olorogun Jaro Egbo for this laudable initiative. His deliberate commitment to grooming young leaders by exposing them to world class policy education reflects a progressive mindset and deep passion for youth empowerment,” the statement read.

Comr. Sagboje further emphasized that the National Youth Council of Nigeria, established by an Act of Parliament and recognized as the mouthpiece and umbrella body for all youth organisations in the country, places high value on partnerships that enhance youth development across the state and nation.

He called on other public office holders, institutions, and philanthropists to emulate this gesture, noting that the socio-economic advancement of the state and nation depends on deliberate investment in the next generation.

The NYCN Chairman congratulated Hon. Ese Agbobore and other beneficiaries, urging them to maximize the opportunity and be worthy ambassadors of Delta State and Nigeria. He reaffirmed the Council’s unwavering commitment to supporting initiatives that promote youth capacity-building and empowerment across all spheres that aligns with the Renewed Hope for the More Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sherrif Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State.
