DELTA APC CONGRATULATES SENATORIAL PRIMARY WINNERS, CALLS FOR UNITY AHEAD OF STATE ASSEMBLY DIRECT PRIMARIES FIXED FOR WEDNESDAY, 20TH MAY, 2026

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State, warmly congratulates His Excellency, Senator Dr. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa , Senator Ede Dafinone and Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas on their emergence as winners of the just-concluded Senatorial Primaries of our great party in Delta North, Delta Central, and Delta South Senatorial Districts, respectively.

We also commend all aspirants, party leaders, and members who participated in the exercise for their maturity, commitment, and dedication to the democratic process of our party. The outcomes of these elections are expressions of the will of the members of the party.

The Senatorial Primaries were conducted peacefully and in substantial compliance with the approved guidelines of the party, as well as the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026. In particular, Section 9(ii)(e) of the party’s guidelines clearly mandates the Primary Election Committee to “officially declare and announce the outcomes of all primaries conducted.” This provision was fully complied with by the National Assembly Primary Election Committee for Delta State, ably led by Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo as Chairman and Barr. Musa Amagbor as Secretary, who officially declared and announced the outcomes of the primaries upon the conclusion of the exercise.

The party is satisfied that the process followed the extant provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026, relating to the conduct of party primaries and the nomination of candidates, reinforcing our commitment to transparency, fairness, and internal democracy.

As we congratulate our successful candidates, we urge all members and stakeholders to close ranks and work together in the larger interest of the party. Victory in the coming elections will require unity, sacrifice, and collective effort from all of us.

Furthermore, members are hereby reminded that the State House of Assembly Direct Primary Elections, holds tomorrow, Wednesday, 20th May 2026, in every wards across the state, where duly registered members will vote for the aspirant of their choice through the democratic process.

The time for the elections is 11:00 a.m. prompt, and all eligible members are encouraged to participate peacefully and in accordance with party guidelines.

Delta APC remains committed to strengthening internal democracy and ensuring a credible process that reflects the wishes of our members.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, at its 188th Meeting held on May 6, 2026, approved a waiver for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and deemed him duly screened for the Party’s forthcoming presidential primaries.

The decision, made in line with the APC Constitution, followed overwhelming endorsements and votes of confidence received from key Party stakeholders, including the Progressive Governors Forum, the National Assembly leadership, and other Party organs.

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MEETING OF THE STATE WORKING COMMITTEE WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT PARTY CHAIRMEN

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State, wishes to inform members and stakeholders of our great Party, that at the meeting between the State Working Committee and Local Government Party Chairmen held on 28th April, 2026, at the Party’s State Secretariat, presided over by the State Chairman, *Chief Solomon Arenyeka, JP*, extensive deliberations were held on the framework for the conduct of the forthcoming Party primaries in the State.

After reviewing developments within the Party and in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the All Progressives Congress, the Electoral Act 2026, and the directive of the Party’s National Leadership, it was agreed that the consensus option remains the preferred approach for the emergence of candidates in the forthcoming primaries, where such an outcome is achieved through broad consultation and mutual understanding among critical stakeholders.

The meeting noted that this position is consistent with the positive experience of the Party during the recent congresses conducted across the State under the leadership of *His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori,* where the application of consensus contributed significantly to the orderly and successful conduct of the exercise.

Consequently, the following were noted for the guidance of members:

1. The Party shall encourage the use of the consensus option in the forthcoming primaries in line with the Party’s constitution and other relevant guidelines.

2. The venues designated for stakeholder consultations in the various Local Government Areas will be communicated to the respective Local Government Party Chairmen by the appropriate organs of the Party in due course.

3. The categories of leaders and stakeholders expected to participate in the consultation meetings in each Local Government Area shall also be communicated through established Party channels at the appropriate time.

Chairmen have accordingly been advised to begin the necessary engagements with critical leaders and stakeholders within their respective Local Government Areas to promote understanding and foster the unity required for a peaceful and harmonious process.

The Party is confident that where the consensus option is pursued in good faith and with sincere consultation, it will help minimize avoidable disagreements and further strengthen the unity of the Party ahead of future electoral activities.

Delta State APC therefore urges all aspirants, leaders, and members to continue to place the collective interest of the Party above personal considerations and to cooperate with the leadership at all levels in the overall interest of the Party.

The Party remains committed to internal democracy, fairness, and the continued progress of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State.

APC MOURNS DR. CHAMBERLAIN DUNKWU

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is shocked and deeply saddened by the death of a highly respected Party Chieftain, Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu at 54.

The late Dr. Dunkwu was an energetic, selfless and loyal Party man who contributed enormously to building and strengthening the Party in his native Ika Federal Constituency, Delta state and beyond.

Until his passing on March 7, 2026, Dr. Dunkwu served as Deputy Chief of Staff (Legislative) to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, GCON. Prior, he was a Special Adviser on Members’ Affairs to the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

A Knight of Saint Christopher (KSC) and President of the Nigerian Aquatics Federation (NAqF), Dr. Dunkwu lived a vibrant life of service and philanthropy that touched many within and beyond his homeland. His exit has created a yawning void that will be difficult to fill.

Our Party prays God to grant his immediate family the fortitude to bear this huge loss. And may He comfort all members of the APC family in Ika Federal Constituency, Delta State and around the country at this difficult time.

DELTA APC CONGRATULATES CHIEF SOLOMON ARENYEKA-LED STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ON HISTORIC, UNIFIED CONGRESS; CONDEMNS FABRICATED CRISIS NARRATIVE BY SAHARAREPORTERS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta State unequivocally condemns and rejects the misleading, sensational and politically motivated report published by SaharaReporters alleging a “deepening crisis” within our great party. Ordinarily, we would have ignored such armchair journalism, but for the purpose of putting the record straight and for posterity.

For starters, we wish to heartily congratulate our newly elected State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, and his entire State Executive Committee on their well-deserved emergence through a broad-based consensus process that reflects the collective will of party stakeholders across the State. The just-concluded Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses in Delta State are products of a peacefully, transparently, and successfully conducted exercise, culminating in the emergence of a formidable State Executive Committee under his chairmanship, and nothing could be further from the truth.

Let it be stated clearly and without ambiguity that there was no parallel congress anywhere in Delta State - not in any of the 270 wards, nor the 25 Local Government Areas and certainly not at the State level. For the first time in the political history of congresses in Delta APC, no individual has been paraded or returned as a factional chairman from any so-called parallel congress. That singular feat alone has completely demolished the contrived narrative of division being peddled by mischief-makers.

The unprecedented success recorded is not accidental. It is the manifestation of a deliberate initiative under the courageous and inclusive leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori. Through extensive consultations with critical leaders and stakeholders of our great party, His Excellency adopted the constitutionally backed consensus-driven model that placed unity above personal ambition and collective victory above individual interest, unlike in the past when it was a one-man show where winners took it all.

What Delta APC has achieved is nothing short of a political miracle, as the party has undergone a strategic structural re-engineering of its structures under his watch. The integration of legacy members and new entrants has been handled with political maturity, discipline and foresight. The outcome is a solid, harmonized and battle-ready State Executive Committee capable of driving our party’s expansion and consolidating its dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It is, therefore, intellectually dishonest and journalistically irresponsible for anyone to equate the absence of a few individuals at an event with a crisis. Attendance at political gatherings is not the sign of party unity. The measure of unity is institutional order, the absence of factional structures and the acceptance of outcomes, all of which were clearly demonstrated throughout the various congress stages.

We will not allow sponsored agents of distraction, such as SaharaReporters, to manufacture friction where none exists with its infantile vituperations. We will not permit speculative journalism to undermine the stability painstakingly built within our party. Those desperately searching for cracks in Delta APC will be disappointed because our structures have been reinforced.

Under the watch of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta APC has transitioned into a cohesive and strategically fortified party structure. The new State Executive Committee, ably led by Chief Solomon Arenyeka, represents competence, experience and inclusiveness. It reflects the political reality of a united Delta APC poised for overwhelming victories at all levels come 2027 and beyond.

We make it abundantly clear that Delta APC is not in crisis. It is consolidated, disciplined and strategically repositioned. And as we move toward 2027, our focus remains unwavering, which is to deliver decisive victories for our party at the Presidency, Governorship, National Assembly and State House of Assembly levels, and no amount of idle reportage will distract us from that mission.

We call on party members to remain steadfast and ignore provocations. We urge the media outfits, particularly the likes of Saharareporters to verify facts before amplifying politically motivated conjectures. Delta APC stands united, re-engineered and unstoppable.

APC ANNOUNCES COMPOSITION OF 2026 NATIONAL CONVENTION SUB-COMMITTEES

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the composition of Sub-Committees for the upcoming 2026 National Convention, as part of preparations to ensure a transparent and credible Convention.

The Committees are mandated to coordinate critical operational, administrative, electoral, logistics, security and programme activities necessary for the seamless conduct of the Convention.

The Party urges all Committee members to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, and in strict adherence to the Party’s Constitution and approved guidelines.

The APC reassures members, stakeholders and Nigerians of its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent National Convention that further strengthens internal democracy and consolidates it’s progressive ideals.
