It was celebration mood activated yesterday 27th May, 2023 as the management and staff of Ministry of Women Affairs Delta State organized a surprise send-off party for myself. I am humbled by the love and appreciation but even so, I see myself privileged to be a part of such a team and to help in the transformation we brought working together.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Oghenekevwe Agas gave an open mic opportunity to staff of the Ministry to speak and it was a wonderful moment. All I can say is to God be all the glory.

My earnest appreciation goes to His Excellency, the executive Governor of Delta State, Sen. (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for giving me the opportunity to serve in such a capacity.

Even as I take a bow, I know that the Ministry of Women Affairs, community and social development is in safe hands. May almighty God grant us all honour and mercy as we all continue to play our individual roles to help build our comminities and society at lard. Amen

ALATAN CONGRATULATES OBOREVWORI………HAILS SUPREME COURT VERDICT.

The Honourable Commissioner of Women Affairs Community and Social Development Mrs Flora Alatan has congratulated the Delta State People’s Democratic Party Gubernatorial candidate RT Hon Sherriff Oborevwori on the occasion of the Supreme Court ruling which upheld the decision of the lower court.

While addressing newsmen shortly after the ruling, she said the decision of the Apex court was a confirmation of the collective will of party faithfuls and Deltans in general. According to her, this landmark ruling rejuvinate the hope of the common man. This has further rekindle the hope on the judiciary which ensures justice is served.

Furthermore, she enjoined party faithfuls, litigants to accept the outcome of the Governorship primaries to focusing on the forthcoming elections which is key to Deltans as they Expect More in the Advancing Delta Agenda. In the light of the above, the strategic focus is to activate the various organs of the party from the atomic levels upwards.

Consequently, Honourable Alatan congratulated the incoming Governor Rt Hon Sherriff Oborevwori and Deltans for keeping faith with the party during the litigation processes. Indeed Delta State is PDP and PDP is Delta State. Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa

MORE RELIEF FOR DESTITUTES IN DELTA STATE……..SAYS ALATAN

Following the widely applauded evacuation of mentally unstable people from the streets of some designated Local Govt Areas, more relief materials have been presented to operators of rehabilitation centres across the state.

While addressing newsmen, the coordinating Commissioner of the Ministry, Hon(Mrs) Flora Alatan said as partners, there is need for Government to provide all the necessary support to enhance service delivery to destitutes. Also, inspection of the various centres revealed that relief materials were required especially with the recent evacuation that was carried out across the state. Therefore, the State Government deemed it necessary to present these items to improve the rehabilitation process. According to her, they are no less humans, hence these categories of items including foodstuffs for their welfare. She emphasized that, for the healing process to be fast, the rehabilitation environment needs to be conducive for both patients and the health workers.

Recall that, few weeks ago staffs of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community and Social Development led by Hon(Mrs) Flora Alatan engaged in a coordinated evacuation of destitutes from the streets of the Delta State. A move that was widely commended by Deltans because of the threat their presence poses to society. While pundits were wondering their destination, the presentation of these relief materials answers the questions as to how they would be rehabilitated. Some of the items include: mattresses, clothes, clippers, detergents, disinfectants,etc were among the relief package released to the care givers.

Finally, Hon Alatan assured the operators of more support from the administration of HE Sen(Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa because in his STRONGER DELTA VISION, no one is left behind. Those present during the official handing over include: the Permanent Secretary Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas, Mr Peter Okocha, Director Rehabilitation and other top management staff of the agency.

The Honourable Commissioner of Women Affairs Community and Social Development, Mrs Flora Alatan present official cars to Directors of the agency to facilitate their logistics because of the sensitive nature of their jobs. While speaking, Hon Alatan said the Ministry is service rendering one, hence these cars to enhance the efficiency of the staffs.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Director of Women Affairs, Mrs Faith expressed gratitude to Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa and Honourable Commissioner for considering them worthy of the cars having served the state for 28years. Indeed the stronger Delta vision of HE Sen (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, no one is left behind including the civil servants. According to her, to whom much is given, much is expected. Therefore, Deltans should EXPECT MORE from them.

The Ministry of Women Affairs Community and Social Development under leadership of Hon(Mrs) Flora Alatan has credited over 280 Women Empowerment Skill Acquisition Programme (WESAP) beneficiaries with the sum of N100'000 each for shop rent in addition to the start up packs (Equipments) given them.

Therefore, these women has all it takes to succeed and be independent for life.

The Ministry of Women Affairs Community and Social Development under the leadership of Hon(Mrs) Flora Alatan was at the twin LGA of Uvwie and Warri South in continuation of the evacuation exercise of mentally unstable people that commenced in the state capital the previous week.

The exercise began from the busy PTI Junction where beggars who are indigenes of other states were raised by the team. They were apprehended and taken to the ministry social welfare office in Uvwie LGA for further debriefing. While the operation was ongoing, those Nigeriens that clinge to passerby begging for arms took to their heels on siting staff of the agency.

The Honourable Commissioner then led the team to the ever busy Effurun which is a major gateway to other States of the South South region. The mentally unstable people living and loitering around the flyover were all apprehended, restrained before evacuation to Psychiatric hospital for proper medical treatment. The taskforce, like police looking for criminals, drove through the busy Effurun Sapele Road, apprehending them. The convoy drove through Water Resources, Enerhen Junction through to NPA, Ugbuwangue, DBS and back to Effurun Roundabout to conclude the exercise in the twin city.

Recall that Hon (Mrs) Flora Alatan told pressmen that, the ministry in collaboration with private Psychiatric homes involve in biannual evacuation of destitutes and beggars from across the state. According to her, these categories of people are threat to security in the state, hence the need for this operation to make the society a safer and better place. She also express her joy for the immense support by HE Sen(Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa and that the ministry has had so good with various programmes under her watch. The exercise witnessed the presence of top management staff of the Ministry which include the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas who also double as DG, O5 Initiatives, Special Assistant, Directors etc were on ground. The exercise continues to other LGA.

Just yesterday, 835 beneficiaries graduated from the Women Empowerment Skill Acquisition Programme (WESAP). With strategic partnerships with the private sector, we can empower more individuals, families, and communities.

All thanks to Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowaadministration, with the creation of nearly 129,000 direct and indirect jobs, over the next few years, our state’s economy will benefit significantly.

Earlier today, I was a special guest of Honour at Celestial Church of Christ Branch 2 Airport Road Warri on the occasion of their women convention. I spoke on the topic of the Virtuous Woman. The topic centres on critical role of mothers in restructuring the society.

Earlier today I joined HE Dcn Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, the Deputy Governor of Delta State to Welcome the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, HE Prof Yemi Osinbajo at the Osubi Airstrip. The vice president is in town for an important function in Warri.
