: Ondo Police Averted Organized Bomb Attack in Àkùrè, Arrested Six Suspects.

The Ondo State Police Command has successfully foiled a planned bomb attack in Akure, arresting six suspects and recovering materials believed to be components for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) on April 15, 2026.

The suspects Adekunle Prosper, Ojo Olumide, Tope Kolawole, Ahmed Salihu, Bolaji Adebowale, and Gbadebo Abidemi—were reportedly involved in assembling explosive devices intended to target government infrastructure, with possible links beyond the state.

Investigations revealed the group operated from a rented apartment in the Oke-Odu area, where police also recovered documents outlining potential targets. The swift intervention of security operatives prevented a likely large-scale disaster.

The Command has urged landlords and property managers to properly screen tenants to avoid their properties being used for criminal activities.

ALERT TO AKURE RESIDENTS

We've received credible information that directors of Tipper truck drivers have hatched a plan to create an artificial scarcity of sand in Akure starting tomorrow, aiming to drive up prices and profit from our people's hardship. They've allegedly claimed the Deji of Akure supports their move, stating they've visited him and received his backing for the price hike.

But that's not all - these directors also plan to cut off the middlemen, mostly women who bring customers to them, to monopolize the sand business. They want to control every aspect of the sand trade, leaving many families without a source of income. This is a double blow to our community, and we won't stand for it!

We urge the authorities to investigate and stop this scheme. We stand with our women and the community in saying NO to price gifting and monopolies! Let's protect Akure's progress and people's livelihoods.
