MONDAY MOTIVATION | OCTOBER WEEK 2

LEAD WITH VISION. SERVE WITH PURPOSE. TRANSFORM THROUGH ACTION. 🌍✨

A new week brings another opportunity to be intentional about the person, leader, and changemaker you are becoming.

Leadership is not always about making big moves. It is built through the small decisions we make every day; showing up, keeping our word, learning from others, taking initiative, and choosing action even when progress feels slow.

As we step into this new week:
🎯 Stay Focused: Know what matters and give it your attention.
📚 Keep Learning: Every experience has something to teach you.
🚀 Take Initiative: Don't always wait to be asked before making a difference.
🤝 Serve Intentionally: Look for ways to create value for someone else.
💪 Finish Strong: Start with purpose, but remember that consistency completes the journey.

“Small steps, consistently taken, can lead to extraordinary change.”

Let this week be a week of intentional choices, consistent action, and meaningful impact.

Keep moving. Keep learning. Keep serving. Keep transforming. 🌱

🐾 WORLD ANIMAL DAY 2026

SEE THE WORLD THROUGH THEIR EYES. 🌍

Animals are not just part of our environment; they are living beings that share our communities, ecosystems and planet.

This World Animal Day, we are reminded to see the world through their eyes; to recognise their needs, protect their welfare and understand the role every animal plays in maintaining a healthy and balanced ecosystem.

From protecting wildlife and their habitats to promoting responsible pet ownership and ending cruelty, our everyday choices can make a difference.

🌱 SDG 15 – Life on Land: Protect wildlife, biodiversity and terrestrial ecosystems.
🌊 SDG 14 – Life Below Water: Safeguard marine life and aquatic ecosystems.
♻️ SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption: Make choices that reduce harm to animals and the environment.
🌍 SDG 13 – Climate Action: Address climate change and protect habitats threatened by environmental degradation.

When we protect animals, we protect biodiversity. When we protect biodiversity, we protect our shared future.

This World Animal Day, let compassion guide our actions. 🐕🐈🦋🐘🐢

OCTOBER 1 — INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS
LONGER LIVES. GREATER PURPOSE.

Growing older should never mean becoming invisible.
Behind every older person is a story, a lifetime of experience, lessons learned, communities built and generations influenced.

As our societies live longer, we must rethink how we care, work, design communities and create opportunities for people across every stage of life.

Age should not be a barrier to dignity, participation or contribution.

Let us build communities where older persons are not merely cared for, but heard, respected and included.
Because longer lives should also mean lives lived with dignity, purpose and connection.

🎯 SDGs:
SDG 3 —Good Health & Well-being
SDG 10 — Reduced Inequalities
SDG 11 — Sustainable Cities & Communities

Imagine a world where your voice is always heard, no matter the language you speak.🗣️🌍

Today, 30 September 2026, we celebrate International Translation Day. This year's theme, "Linguistic Diversity and Language Rights," reminds us that being understood is not just a convenience. It is a fundamental human right.

Translation is so much more than converting words from one language to another. It is the bridge that connects people, allows cultures to thrive, and builds a more inclusive world. When we embrace different languages, we break down barriers and open doors to opportunity, understanding, and lasting peace.

*YALI Network Ondo Hub* believes that words build a brighter world. We are committed to championing linguistic diversity and ensuring that every voice has the chance to be heard and valued.

By promoting language rights and translation, we are advancing:
🔹 SDG 4: Quality Education
🔹 SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
🔹 SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

*What is a word in your native language that you wish everyone understood? Tell us its meaning in the comments!* 👇

🌍 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF AWARENESS OF FOOD LOSS AND WASTE | 29 SEPTEMBER

Food is more than what is on our plate.
Behind every meal are water, land, energy, labour, money and the effort of people who helped bring that food to us.

So when food is unnecessarily lost or wasted, we waste much more than food.

This International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, let’s rethink our everyday choices.

Buy what you need.
Store food properly.
Serve what you can finish.
Reuse what can still be eaten.
Share surplus food.
Compost what cannot be used.

Small choices at home can contribute to bigger changes in our food systems.

The 2026 observance highlights the transformative potential of reducing food loss and waste, from improving food security and nutrition to reducing pressure on natural resources, cutting emissions and supporting more sustainable food systems.

🎯 SDGs WE ARE ADDRESSING

SDG 2 — Zero Hunger
SDG 12 — Responsible Consumption and Production
This is the central goal, particularly Target 12.3, which calls for halving per-capita food waste and reducing food losses along production and supply chains by 2030.
SDG 13 — Climate Action
SDG 14 — Life Below Water
SDG 15 — Life on Land

💡 THE QUESTION IS SIMPLE:

What will you stop wasting today?

Food is valuable.
Resources are valuable.
People’s efforts are valuable.

Respect food. Value resources. Reduce waste.
