NSCDC, FERMA Explore Areas of Mutual Collaboration

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, and the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) have agreed to explore areas of mutual collaboration in pursuit of their operational objectives.

The agreement was reached at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters, where the State Commandant, CC Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, received the Federal Roads Maintenance Engineer, Engr. Kenneth Yanum, on a courtesy visit.

The Commandant noted that the Corps’ statutory responsibilities, including the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, maintenance of public order, and safeguarding of lives and property across the state, would go a long way in supporting FERMA’s efforts to achieve its operational objectives.

He emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing security challenges and ensuring the effective maintenance and protection of road infrastructure.

The Commandant further expressed the Command’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with FERMA in areas of mutual interest, in line with the Corps’ mandate and commitment to public safety.

NSCDC ONDO COMMAND ENHANCES CAPACITY OF INVESTIGATORS AND ARRESTING OFFICERS ON CURRENT REQUIREMENTS OF PROOF IN CRIMINAL TRIALS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has strengthened the capacity of its legal officers, investigators, and arresting officers through a specialised training on modern arrest and investigation techniques in line with the current requirements of proof in criminal trials.

The training, which was organised by the Ondo State Command on Tuesday, 1st September, 2026, was facilitated by the Director of Legal Services, Office of the Attorney-General, Mr. Aminu Kayode Alilu, Esq.

Speaking during the opening of the training, the State Commandant, NSCDC Ondo State Command, CC Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, stated that the seminar was designed to harmonise the legal activities of the Command and equip personnel with contemporary knowledge and skills required for effective arrest, investigation, and prosecution of criminal cases.

According to the Commandant, the initiative is aimed at strengthening synergy among the Legal, Investigation, and Operations Units while ensuring that arrests and investigations conducted by personnel are carried out professionally and in accordance with extant laws and legal procedures.

He further stated that the engagement would provide an avenue to assess the performance of the Command's lawyers, as well as inspect and audit the Legal Unit, with a view to identifying areas requiring improvement and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the Command's legal processes.

Participants at the training included legal officers, investigators, personnel from the Operations Department, Anti-Vandal Unit, Gender Unit, Anti-Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration Unit, Financial Crimes Unit, and other relevant units of the Command.

The Commandant commended the facilitator and participants for their contributions, noting that continuous professional training remains essential to maintaining a highly competent, disciplined, and legally compliant workforce.

The Command reiterated its commitment to strengthening the professional capacity of its personnel and ensuring that all arrests, investigations, and prosecutions undertaken by the Command meet the required legal and evidentiary standards.

DCG ADEYINKA, THE ARCHITECT OF MODERN ONDO STATE COMMAND, RETIRES IN STYLE

Deputy Commandant General Adeyinka Fasiu Ayinla, Deputy Commandant General in charge of General Administration, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has retired from active service in grand style.

The former State Commandant of the NSCDC Ondo State Command, popularly described as the “Architect of Modern Ondo State Command,” was ceremonially sent forth and pulled out of the service at the Corps College of SecurityManagement, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, on Friday, 28th August 2026.

As DCG Adeyinka takes his final bow from active service after attaining the age of 60, the Corps celebrates not merely the end of a distinguished career, but the enduring legacy of a leader who invested in people, strengthened institutions and contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Corps.

His years of service were marked by commitment, professionalism, strategic leadership, and an unwavering dedication to duty.

Congratulations, Sir, from all of us at the NSCDC Ondo State Command.

May the years ahead bring you fulfilment, good health, and continued success as you begin a new chapter beyond active service.

COMMANDANT IBILOYE DELIVERS LECTURE ON “SAFE TUTOR, SAFE LEARNER: BUILDING A NATIONAL PARTNERSHIP FOR SECURITY AND SAFEGUARDING IN THE TUTORING INDUSTRY”

The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, was the guest speaker at a seminar organised by the Association of Certified Tutors of Nigeria (ACTON), Ondo State Chapter, held on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at Mosco Pragmatic College Hall, Akure.

The seminar was designed to bring together certified tutors, education practitioners, tutorial centre operators, educational entrepreneurs, and other relevant stakeholders to deliberate on the growth, professionalisation, standards, and responsibilities of the tutoring profession in Nigeria.

The State Commandant was ably represented at the seminar by the Head of Safe School, Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Olakanse Folasade Olubunmi, who delivered the lecture titled “Safe Tutor, Safe Learner: Building a National Partnership for Security and Safeguarding in the Tutoring Industry.”

In her presentation, DCC Folasade emphasised the importance of making safety and security an integral part of tutoring and other educational activities. She highlighted several key areas, including periodic risk assessment, practical safety measures, collaboration with the NSCDC, and registration on the National Safe School Response Coordination Platform.

She further sensitised participants on the respective responsibilities of tutors, parents, and proprietors in creating a safe and secure learning environment. She stressed that safeguarding learners requires the collective commitment and vigilance of all stakeholders within the education sector.

The seminar provided an important platform for sensitising tutors and other educational stakeholders on the need to make safety and security a core responsibility of the tutoring profession. Participants were encouraged to remain vigilant, promptly report suspicious activities or emerging threats, and adopt appropriate safety measures within their tutorial centres and learning environments.

The lecture also reinforced the need for continuous collaboration between ACTON and the NSCDC, particularly in the areas of regular risk assessment, safety awareness, prompt reporting of threats, and registration on the National Safe School Response Coordination Platform.

The programme was successfully conducted, with the participation of the NSCDC further demonstrating the Corps’ commitment to the protection and safeguarding of schools, tutors, and learners across Ondo State.

The engagement is expected to strengthen the partnership between the NSCDC and educational stakeholders while promoting a safer and more secure environment for teaching and learning in the state.

A FINAL FAREWELL TO A DISTINGUISHED OFFICER — DCC MICHAEL OGUNYINKA

Today, Friday, 28 August 2026, was a deeply emotional day as family, friends, colleagues, and officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps gathered at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Onikobo, Abeokuta, Ogun State, to bid a final farewell to the late Deputy Commandant Michael Olusola Ogunyinka.

It was a day filled with tears, solemn reflections, heartfelt tributes, and cherished memories of a man whose life touched many.

DCC Michael Ogunyinka was more than a distinguished officer of the Corps. He was a devoted family man, a man of strong principles, a consummate professional, and an officer whose life was defined by hard work, diligence, integrity, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

His sudden departure has created a painful void that words can hardly describe. His family has lost a husband, father, and loved one; his colleagues have lost a dependable brother and professional; while the NSCDC has lost an officer whose years of dedicated service contributed meaningfully to the growth and success of the Corps.

His footprints remain firmly etched in the history of the NSCDC Commands in Ogun, Nasarawa, and Ondo States, where he served with dedication and distinction.

As the funeral parade marked his final journey, the atmosphere was heavy with grief. Yet, beyond the tears was gratitude — gratitude for the privilege of knowing him, working with him, and witnessing a life dedicated to service.

Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate the life he lived, the values he upheld, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Sleep on, DCC Michael Olusola Ogunyinka.

Your service is over.
Your legacy remains.
Your memory will never fade.

May God grant eternal rest to his soul and give his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire NSCDC family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.

NSCDC ONDO COMMAND HOLDS WAKE-KEEP FOR LATE DEPUTY COMMANDANT MICHAEL OGUNYINKA

Yesterday, Thursday, 27 August 2026, was an emotional day for officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, as they gathered to bid farewell to the late Deputy Commandant of Corps, DC Michael Ogunyinka, Head of Intelligence and Investigation of the Command at his country home, Abeokuta

The wake-keep was held in honour of the late officer, who passed away after a brief illness.

The atmosphere was filled with grief as colleagues, friends, family members and well-wishers gathered to pay their last respects to a dedicated officer whose service and contributions to the Command will be remembered.

The State Command, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, expressed his condolences to the family, colleagues and loved ones of the deceased, praying for strength and comfort for all those mourning his loss.

May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

NSCDC ONDO STATE COMMAND RECEIVES NEW NDLEA COMMANDER ON A FAMILIARIZATION VISIT.

The newly deployed State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), CN Folayemi Gabriel Adeyemo, on Thursday, 20 August 2026, paid a familiarization visit to the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, CC Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP.

The visit was aimed at strengthening the existing synergy between the two agencies and identifying additional areas of collaboration in the fight against drug abuse, illicit drug trafficking, and related criminal activities.

During the visit, both officers emphasized that the fight against drug abuse and substance misuse is a collective responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of all relevant security and law enforcement agencies.

They agreed on the importance of effective information gathering and sharing, noting that enhanced inter-agency cooperation would improve intelligence-led operations and contribute significantly to combating drug-related crimes in the state.

The nexus between drug abuse and insecurity cannot be overemphasized, as substance misuse can contribute to various forms of criminality and threaten the peace and security of society.

The two agencies therefore reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining their existing partnership and exploring further avenues of collaboration for a safer and more secure Ondo State.

NSCDC Ondo Partners Ondo State Government on Marine and Blue Economy

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),Ondo state Command, has strengthened its partnership with the Ondo State Government on the development and security of the state’s Marine and Blue Economy.

The partnership is aimed at enhancing the enforcement of relevant laws and regulations governing marine activities, including provisions contained in the Fisheries Act, as well as applicable international conventions and protocols relating to maritime operations.

The partnership was further discussed at the Ondo State Command headquarters when the Executive Director of Projects, Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Dr. Olujimi Kufo and other members of the Joint Action on the Marine and Blue Economy team visited the Command.

Dr. Kufo highlighted the critical role of NSCDC personnel in providing enforcement support to the initiative, particularly across three core pillars of riverine and coastal engagements: vessel and commuter safety, ecosystem protection, and economic and livelihood support.

He noted that the collaboration would strengthen efforts to promote safety, protect marine resources, and support sustainable economic activities across Ondo State’s coastal communities.

In his remarks, the State Commandant, NSCDC Ondo State Command, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, assured the delegation of the Command’s readiness to collaborate with the State Government and other relevant stakeholders in ensuring the successful implementation of the Marine and Blue Economy initiative.

Commandant Ibiloye emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding the state’s marine resources, protecting lives and livelihoods, and creating a secure environment for sustainable economic development.

The Commandant reaffirmed that the NSCDC remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote security, environmental protection, and sustainable development across Ondo State.

NSCDC, ONDO STATE PREVENT COUNCIL PARTNER ON DISPUTE SETTLEMENT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), NSCDC Ondo State Command , has partnered with the Ondo State Prevent Council to strengthen dispute settlement, conflict prevention, mediation and peacebuilding across the state.

The collaboration was established during a courtesy visit by the Council to the State Commandant, NSCDC Ondo State Command, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, at the Command Headquarters in Akure on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.

The delegation was led by the State Chairman of the Council, His Eminence, Alhaji Dr. Abdulhakeem Yayi Akorede, JP.

The visit was aimed at fostering collaboration with the Command in resolving disputes within local government areas and communities across Ondo State, as well as establishing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) committees across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

Speaking during the visit, the State Chairman explained that the Council had identified emerging security and social concerns requiring urgent attention, noting that such challenges could not be addressed by the government alone.

He therefore called for robust support and strategic collaboration among relevant government institutions, security agencies, traditional institutions, and other stakeholders.

According to him, “Our goal is to complement the efforts of the Police and other security agencies through community sensitisation, early warning, mediation, and advocacy for peace at all levels.”

He further disclosed that the Council had resolved to extend its representation and collaborative efforts to other key institutions, including the Office of the Governor of Ondo State, the Ministry of Justice, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and other notable civil society organisations.

Responding, the State Commandant, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, appreciated the Council for considering the NSCDC as one of the key stakeholders with whom it could establish a strategic partnership.

Commandant Ibiloye emphasised that sustainable development and security could only thrive in a peaceful environment. He noted that chieftaincy disputes and title contentions in some parts of the state remained a major concern requiring proactive intervention and effective mediation.

The Commandant expressed his readiness to support the initiative, stating, “With this committee in place, our job is made easier. I am with you on this. Call me whenever you need my input and operational support. I am convinced that this committee will make a lot of difference.”

He assured the Council of the Command's willingness to provide the necessary operational support within its mandate to promote peaceful coexistence, prevent conflicts, and strengthen community security across the state.

The Commandant further noted that effective collaboration among relevant stakeholders would enhance early intervention in emerging conflicts and prevent minor disputes from escalating into major security challenges.

Members of the delegation included His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Olaleye, the Oluboropa of Iboropa Akoko; High Chief Pius Akomolafe, Coordinator, Ondo State PIND Project; and Pathfinder Matthew Ogunmolawa, Secretary of the Council.

The NSCDC Ondo State Command reiterates its commitment to strengthening partnerships with relevant stakeholders towards the promotion of peace, security, conflict prevention, and sustainable development across Ondo State.
