*SURGERY OPERATIONS AT AJASE-IPO COTTAGE HOSPITAL – OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT*

The Ajase‑Ipo Descendants Union, North America (AIDU‑NA) is pleased to announce its 2026 Joint Triple Mission (Palliative, Educational, and Medical), scheduled to take place from June 1 to June 5, 2026.

For the first time in its 12‑year history, this year’s medical mission will include surgical operations, which will be conducted at the Cottage Hospital, Ajase‑Ipo.

*Surgical Procedures to Be Offered*
The surgical operations will include the treatment and removal of:
* Cataracts
* Hernias
* Lumps, including lipomas, breast lumps, and other body lumps

*Pre‑Screening Exercise*
In preparation for these surgeries, a *MANDATORY* Pre‑screening exercise will be conducted to identify eligible patients, properly prepare them, and ensure they are medically fit for the procedures. The Pre‑Screening Details:

* Date: Saturday, May 16, 2026
* Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
* Venue: Cottage Hospital, Ajase‑Ipo

We hereby encourage individuals experiencing lumps, hernias, cataracts, or poor eyesight to come to the Cottage Hospital, Ajase-Ipo for the screening exercise on Saturday, May 16, 2026. *_PLEASE NOTE: If you are NOT pre-screened on May 16th, walk-in surgical procedures would not be performed during the week of AIDU Triple joint mission._*

*CLOSURE OF KARA MARKET*
It has come to our attention that some individuals are calling for the closure of the Ajase-Ipo Kara Market. The question is: why target only Ajase-Ipo Kara Market? There are several Kara markets across the state.

Those advocating for the closure of only Ajase-Ipo Kara Market appear biased and unfair in their demands. If their concern is genuine, they should call for the closure of all Kara markets in the state, not single out one community. Anything short of this raises questions about their intentions.

Have they considered the impact such a closure would have on the many individuals and families who depend on this market for their daily livelihood? The Ajase-Ipo Kara Market has grown into an international market, contributing significantly to the state’s revenue and economic development.
Closing it alone will not solve the issue of insecurity. We have seen cases where some individuals from different communities act as informants to bandits what concrete actions have been taken in those instances? Some suspects are even arrested and later released. These are the real issues that require attention.

Rather than calling for the closure of a single market, stakeholders should focus on practical and effective solutions to insecurity. Targeting Ajase-Ipo Kara Market alone is not only unjust but also counterproductive.
We strongly urge the state government to disregard any calls for the selective closure of Ajase-Ipo Kara Market. If closure is deemed necessary, then it should apply uniformly to all Kara markets across the state.

Ajase-Ipo Kara Market remains a vital economic hub, generating substantial revenue and supporting countless livelihoods. Any attempt to single it out for closure should be seen for what it is an unfair and unbalanced approach.
If all Kara markets are closed, will these criminal elements not simply relocate to our conventional markets? Closing markets alone does not address the root causes of insecurity.
