Ekiti State is not just favoured to host the female version of Mr & Miss Nigeria International Pageant. Ekiti State earned the hosting privilege for being the number 1 on the ladder of tourism performance in Nigeria.
That rating never came as a surprise to stakeholders in the sector because getting on top of that pedestal was never by a sudden leap. The reputation took combined efforts: Tourism became a thriving sector through the sincere commitment of the Fayemi administration between 2010 and 2014. That was when, for the first time since its creation, Ekiti State had, established, a full fledged Ministry for Arts, Culture and for Tourism. Tourism began its growth in Ekiti State, aided and nurtured by the sincere commitment of the State Government in terms of vision and budgeting.
Tourism in Ekiti today has been waxing strong through combined efforts of the Ministry under the workaholic Commissioner, Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare and the various tourism development partners and operators such as Hike Ekiti, Discover Ekiti, ATPN, NANTA etc. With these hardworking tourism stakeholders, all Ekiti hills and mountains, ravines and caves, springs and streams have become products of economic growth through tourism.
Since Ekiti hosted the National Festival of Arts and Culture, for the first time ever, in 2021, Ekiti State has continued to be the most preferred destination for National Conferences of professional associations, Church Conventions, Sports Marathon activities, Medical tourism, as lately activated by the Afe Babalola University Hospital.
Now you know why Ekiti would be hosting the most credible international pageant competition in Nigeria. The pageants representing each State arrived Ado-Ekiti on Saturday evening for a week-long screening, preparatory to the main event coming up on 1st of October, 2022 at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Centre, Ado-Ekiti.
