PRESS RELEASE
A Public Rejoinder to the Residents of the Federal Capital Territory
The attention of the FCT Fire Service has been drawn to certain public narratives capable of causing confusion regarding fire safety responsibilities within the Federal Capital Territory. In the interest of clarity, public safety, and trust, it has become necessary to address the good people of the FCT directly.
The FCT Fire Service remains the statutorily mandated authority charged with the responsibility of saving lives and protecting property within the Federal Capital Territory.
With an unmatched operational footprint, the Service maintains thirteen fully functional fire stations within the city centre (FCC) and adjoining satellite towns, and one fire station in each of the Area Councils, ensuring prompt response, local knowledge, and effective coverage across the Territory.
This extensive presence places the FCT Fire Service in a unique position to engage residents, businesses, institutions, and communities in their day-to-day fire safety needs, ranging from emergency response and fire prevention, to inspections, enforcement, training, and public enlightenment.
It is important to clearly state that the recognized leadership of the FCT Fire Service remains unchanged. The Service is under the capable and indefatigable leadership of Engr. Adebayo Zacchaeus, Controller of the FCT Fire Service.
He is ably supported by:
DC (Engr.) Sina Abioye – Head of Operations
DC Olusola Kayode – Head of Enforcement
DC Akinnola Segun – Commandant, Training School
AC Yusuf Abubakar – Head of Fire Prevention
CSF Bolajoko Samson - Head, Clinic (Paramedics)
SF Abubakar Adamu Ewa - Head, Search and Rescue among other dedicated officers.
The public is hereby advised to deal directly and exclusively with recognized personnel and the official structure of the FCT Fire Service, and to remain vigilant against individuals or groups falsely parading themselves under the name of the Service, with the intent to mislead or defraud the public.
Fire safety is a collective responsibility, and cooperation with the lawful, well-structured, and territorially grounded Fire Service of the FCT is essential for a safer Abuja.
📞 For fire emergencies, please call: 0209-290-6118 or locate us at:

Signed:
