On March 15, 2025, the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) held a special Iftar Dinner at the residence of His Excellency Mohamadou Musa Njie, High Commissioner, to honour Professor Al-Hassan Conteh, the outgoing Liberian High Commissioner to Nigeria and former Dean of the PRC.
This event, attended by esteemed ambassadors from the PRC and various West African nations, celebrated High Commissioner Conteh's substantial legacy. Current PRC Chair, Ambassador Nuhu Musa, expressed tremendous respect for High Commissioner Conteh, acknowledging his remarkable diplomatic efforts in Nigeria and within the ECOWAS framework, which set a commendable standard for commitment and leadership.
Fellow ambassadors reminisced about High Commissioner Conteh's illustrious career, recognizing his grace, humility, and unwavering dedication. They highlighted his strong commitment to unity, sense of duty, and calm yet forthright leadership as defining qualities that have earned him immense respect. They praised his skill in preserving ECOWAS’s institutional history, comparing him to a living encyclopaedia of the organisation and urged him to document his insights from his time in ECOWAS to guide future diplomats.

With the opening ceremony of the highly anticipated Ecowas wrestling tournament set to commence this morning, the Gambian wrestling team received a significant morale boost from their High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency, Mohamadou Musa Njie and the counselor, Mr. Mustapha Sosseh.

The Ambassador's visit to the Gambian delegation at their respective hotels early this morning underscored the nation's unwavering support for its athletes.

High Commissioner Njie's presence was more than a mere courtesy call. He engaged with the wrestlers, offering words of encouragement and expressing confidence in their abilities to represent The Gambia with pride and distinction. Strengthening Ties, Exploring Opportunities..

On February 19, 2025, the High Commissioner of The Gambia, H.E. Mr. Mohamadou Musa Njie welcomed the High Commissioner-Designate of Tanzania, H.E. Mr. Selestine Gervas Kakele, on a courtesy visit.

Ambassador Mohamadou Musa-Njie, the High Commissioner of The Gambia to Nigeria, emphasises the need for Africa, particularly the ECOWAS sub-region, to promote greater inclusivity for all. Musa-Njie made these remarks during the unveiling of the Women's Chamber of Commerce and Credit Cooperative Union (WCCI-CCU), themed “She Financial Inclusion”, in Abuja.
He described WCCI-CCU as a commendable initiative and congratulated the cooperative credit union for uniting around a common purpose that would encourage collective growth.
“We all know that if you empower women, you empower the nation; this cooperative union offers them greater opportunities to access credit facilities and similarly brings them together with a unified voice.
“It is not merely about stating this in policy documents; we must intentionally include women in all our development agendas. Once they are included, we will be able to progress as a nation, and as I mentioned, women are often better managers of resources.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate The Gambia on its Independence Day celebration; The Gambia gained independence 60 years ago, and one of the pillars of its economic empowerment is inclusion,” he remarked.
He added that the President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, unwaveringly supports inclusivity and ensures that women's voices are heard; thus, the WCCI-CCU will also be launched in The Gambia.
In a welcoming address, Ambassador Zainab Mohammed, Chief Executive Officer of the Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI), underscored the resilience of women's financial management, particularly regarding savings.
