NASC CONFIRMS IBRAHIM SIDI AS CLERK, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The National Assembly Service Commission has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Sidi as the substantive Clerk of the House of Representatives. The Commission approved Sidi’s confirmation along with other senior officers today (Tuesday , 28th July, 2026) at the 31st Meeting of the 6th NASC held at the Commission’s Conference Room.

The other officers whose appointments were confirmed are : Mrs. Fortune Ihua-Maduenyi (Secretary of Protocol and Inter-Parliamentary Relations ), Asien Fatima Nana (Secretary, Zonal Liaison Offices), Engr. Bashir Layya (Secretary, Estates and Works), Siaka Wahab Sadia (Deputy Clerk, Legislative, House of Representatives), and Dauda Bulama Bukar (Deputy Clerk, Administration, House of Representatives).
It would be recalled that the Commission had on 20th January, 2026 elevated Mr. Ibrahim Sidi and the other officers to their different posts in acting capacity.

NASC EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, ENYIEKERE, GREETS NIGERIANS ON SALLAH,
EMPHASISES IMPORTANCE OF SACRIFICE, DEDICATION TO NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Chief Saviour Enyiekere has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of this year's Eid el- Kabir celebration, stressing on the importance of sacrifice, love and dedication to national development.
In his Sallah message to Nigerians, Enyiekere said, "On this joyous occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations to all Muslim faithfuls and indeed, all Nigerians as they commemorate this sacred festival of sacrifice, obedience, love , and devotion to Almighty God". He noted that Eid-el- Kabir was a significant period in the Islamic faith, reminding humanity of the virtues exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim — unwavering faith, selflessness, obedience, and total submission to the will of God.
According to him, these enduring values continue to offer guidance and inspiration for building a virile, stronger, more united, and peaceful society where everyone will flourish in.
Speaking further, he said, "As we celebrate this important festival, I urge Nigerians, irrespective of religious, ethnic, or political affiliations, to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, tolerance, love, and mutual understanding in our nation's journey towards national unity, peace and development".
The Executive Chairman also called on all Nigerians to strive to play their role towards the peace and development of the country. Eid-el-Kabir (also known as Eid al-Adha or the "Greater Eid") is a major Islamic festival celebrated globally to honor Prophet Ibrahim's (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as an act of obedience to God. NASC CHAIRMAN SALUTES NASS WORKERS , DESCRIBES THEM AS ENGINE ROOM FOR DEMOCRATIC GROWTH.

The Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Chief Saviour Enyiekere has extended his heartfelt greetings to the workers of the National Assembly Service Commission, describing them as the engine room of Nigeria's democracy. " Your mandate is the sinew and spine upon which the strength and stability of our National Legislature depends", he enthused.
Dr Enyiekere conveyed his appreciation of the enormous contributions of the Legislative workers in his message to mark this year's May Day/ Workers Day Celebration in Abuja.
He commended their dedication, resilience, and invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development.
Enyiekere praised the commitment of legislative staff who continue to provide critical support services that ensure the effective functioning of the National Assembly,
noting that the role of workers in the legislature remains indispensable, as their professionalism and hard work sustain the operations of one of the country’s most important democratic institutions.
The NASC Chairman assured staff members that the Commission remains committed to improving their welfare, enhancing career development opportunities, and creating a more conducive working environment for all legislative workers.
According to him, the Commission is already taking steps to implement reforms and policies that will positively impact staff wellbeing, productivity, and morale.
He urged the workers to remain steadfast, diligent, and committed to excellence, assuring them that their sacrifices and contributions would continue to be recognized and rewarded.
He reaffirmed the determination of the Commission to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that better days lie ahead for legislative workers across the nation .
“Your dedication to duty is highly appreciated. The Commission is committed to ensuring improved welfare and a brighter future for all staff,” he said. This was Dr Enyiekere's first Worker’s Day message to the Legislative Workers as his 6th National Assembly Service Commission was inaugurated on 5th May, 2025.

NASC, NIPR PARTNER TOWARDS SUCCESSFUL HOSTING OF WORLD PUBLIC RELATIONS FORUM IN ABUJA

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has avowed its unalloyed support for the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations to ensure the successful hosting of the prestigious World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja come November.
The World Public Relations Forum, held under the auspices of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, is a globally recognized platform that brings together public relations professionals, communication strategists, policymakers, academics, and business leaders from across the world to discuss emerging trends, ethical standards, innovation, and the future of strategic communication globally.
Nigeria recently won the right to host the 3-in-1 event in Abuja.
On monday, the Acting President of the Institute, Prof Emmanuel Dandaura led a delegation of the National Planning Committee of the WPRF on a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Chief Saviour Enyiekere. The visit was aimed at sensitising the Commission and soliciting its collaboration towards the successful hosting of the event.
The NASC boss, Chief Saviour Enyiekere affirmed the commitment of the Commission to work with the Instiute to make the event a very successful and memorable one, stressing that this initiative would greatly enhance Nigeria’s international reputation and strengthen institutional communication capacity. The Commission emphasized that hosting the Forum aligns with Nigeria’s broader objective of promoting transparency, effective governance, and global engagement . Chief Enyiekere was particularly delighted that the Institute was bringing people from about 150 countries to Nigeria at a time many foreigners believed the country was insecure.
He enthused: "It is a great job that you have done...it is a great feat to bring the world to Nigeria at this period that many foreigners are afraid of coming here because of fear of insecurity".

Earlier, Prof Dandaura explained that the World Public Relations Forum will provide an opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s expertise, cultural richness, and professional standards to the global community. He emphasised that
hosting the World Public Relations Forum in Abuja would :
Position Nigeria as a leading hub for strategic communication in Africa,boost tourism, hospitality, and related sectors,
foster international collaboration and investment opportunities, and promote ethical standards and innovation in public relations practice.
According to the NIPR leadership,,the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, as the statutory regulatory body for public relations practice in Nigeria, needed governmental backing for the proper regulation of communications profession as a way of properly projecting a positive narrative about the country.
In this regard, the institute urged the Commission to strive to comply with the NIPR laws that prohibit non professionals from holding any position or acting in any capacity as a spokesperson or protocol officer in any organisation without due qualification and registration with the institute
Further, the instiute enjoined the Commission to avail its PR personnel of the numerous PR professional training and capacity building opportunities offered by the NIPR as way of equipping them with the knowledge and skills they needed for optimum performance of their duties.
Prof Dandaura also tasked the Commission to always sponsor its PR personnel to actively parricipate in all the institue's programmes, activities and trainings as these would help sharpen their skills and enhance productivity. The Institute also requested the Executive Chairman to be part of its session on the legislature.
The visit was facilitated by the WPRF-NIPR Legislature Team working with the NASC Department of Public Affairs.

NASC CHAORMAN PLEADS WITH SENATE PRESIDENT AKPABIO TO INAUGURATE NASS PENSION BOARDTO ESTABLISH COUNCIL OF FORMER PRESIDING OFFICERS OF NASS, BUILD NEW LEGISLATIVE QUARTERS
​The Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission , Chief Saviour Enyiekere, has called on the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, to help fast-track the implementation of the National Assembly Service Pension Scheme by inaugurating the NASS Pension Board.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Senate President Thursday January 29th, 2026, Dr Enyiekere emphasized that the formal takeoff of the Pension Board would enhance the wellbeing of retirees of the National Assembly Service. He noted that many retirees of the Service were undergoing various degrees of untold hardships as a result of their inability to assess their pensionsong after retirement.
Dr. Enyiekere noted that this measure would bring the National Assembly in line with global best practices for parliamentary administration and staff motivation.

​Beyond the push for pension reforms, the NASC Chairman also requested the National Assembly Leadership to help midwife certain measures that would enhance the smooth working of the federal legislature. One of the proposals is the call for establishment of a Council of Former Presiding Officers of the National Assembly to serve as a thinktank for for the National Assembly as well as the institutional memory of the Legislature; positing
that leveraging the experience of past leaders would provide invaluable guidance for current and future assemblies, ensuring a seamless transition of legislative traditions and professional excellence.

​Addressing the physical infrastructure needs of the legislature, the Commission further urged Senator Akpabio to support the reintroduction and construction of a National Assembly Legislative Quarters to help solve the growing accommodation challenges and insecurity faced by both Lawmakers and staff of National Assembly. He contended that building a modern residential complex for legislators and workers could help to streamline operations and enhance the security and effeciency of the Federal legislature.
Dr Enyiekere used the visit, the first since the inauguration of the 6th NASC on 5th May, 2025 to intimate the Senate Leadership of the activities and future intentions of the Commission. Among those intentions was a pending staff audit of the National Assembly Service by the Commission with the view to eliminating "ghost worker".

In his response, Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended the Commission's foresight and commitment in dischaging its mandates,acknowleding the necessity of the proposed reforms; assuring that the 10th National Assembly was poised to help the Commission achieve the set goals.
He urged the Commission to come up with ideas that would help ammend the NASS Act 2014 to enable the Commission to take full control of the management of the manpower of all segments of the NASS.
The President of the Senate explained that the National Assembly Pension Board would soon be inaugurated after correcting some anomalies in its Act which was currently undergoing ammendment.
Senator Akpabio, however, urged the Commission to strive to address some complaints arising from recent recent appoitments and redployment of high ranking officers of the National Assembly.

NASC CONFIRMS EMMANUEL ODO AS CLERK SENATE

• REDEPLOYS OTHERS
The National Assembly Service Commission has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Emmanuel 0do as the Clerk of the Senate. The Commission also elevated Mr. Ibrahim Sidi as the Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives. The Commission further approved the appointment and redeployment of officers into other Consolidated positions. These were the high points of decisions reached at the Commission's 19th meeting held today, Tuesday, 20th January, 2026.
The Commission had on 16th September 2025 approved Odo’s elevation to the position of Acting Clerk of the Senate.
Prior to his appointment as the Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mr. Ibrahim Sidi was a Director of Administration in the National Assembly. His appointment is with effect from 9th February, 2026. He will replace Dr. Yahaya Danzariya, who will officially retire from the National Assembly Service on 8th February 2026.
The newly appointed Acting Secretaries to the Directorates are: Fortune Ihua-Maduenyi (Protocol and Inter-Parliamentary Relations), Asien Fatima Nana (Zonal Liaison Offices), Engr. Bashir Layya (Estate and Works, with effect from 3rd February 2026), Siyaka Wahab Sadiq (Deputy Clerk Legislative, House of Representatives), and Dauda Bulama Bukar (Deputy Clerk Administration, House of Representatives).
Those redeployed to new positions include Mofoluwake Ogunbayo, who has been moved from the Directorate of Special Duties and Parliamentary Security to become the Secretary of Procurement and Supplies; Kehinde Amos, who was moved from the position of the Deputy Clerk, HR (Legislative) to position of the Deputy Clerk, Senate (Legislative); Atiku Ibrahim, from Procurement and Supplies to Secretary, Finance and Accounts; Vivien Njemanze from Deputy Clerk, HR (Administration) to Deputy Clerk, Senate (Administration); and Andrew Nwoba from Zonal Liaison Offices to Secretary, Special Duties and Parliamentary Security.
Apart from Ibrahim Sidi and Engr. Bashir Layya’s appointments, all other appointments and redeployments are with immediate effect.
