How to Not Worry about Humans (1): Learn to Sacrifice Without Expectations
The sooner we understand that we only have full control over what we do, instead of the actions of others, the better our lives will be.
If you're giving anything with the hope that the person you're helping will do the same for you in the future, then it's better you keep your help for now...until you've learnt how to help without expectations.
We have a perfect example in Christ, who didn't sacrifice himself because He felt humans will do the same for Him or love Him forever. In fact, even while being on the cross, Jesus understood that these humans he was helping would still ridicule and mock him. Yet, He still did it.
To live a joyful life, we have to learn to only expect good things from God because He's the only one who can not fail. No father, mother, sibling, spouse or friend is 100% fail-proof. Only God is.
This way of thinking will greatly minimize your disappointments and will prevent future foolishness and anger. No one owes you anything, even if you did something for them. Humans are naturally fickle. Even Jesus, as powerful and compassionate as He was did not put his hope in them. Why then should you?
