CHPRBN Hosts Pan-African Health Sciences University Kenya on Advocacy Visit to Forge Partnership for Community Health Workforce Training

The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) has welcomed a high-level delegation from the Pan-African Health Sciences University on an advocacy visit aimed at establishing a strategic partnership for the training of community health practitioners across the country.

The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of CHPRBN, Assoc. Prof. Bashir Idris (Lifidin Jama’a), expressed the Board’s excitement as he warmly received the university delegation. In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Idris reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to collaboration that enhances the quality and accessibility of community health services.

Speaking during the visit, the leader of the Pan-African Health Sciences University team and Director of Advancement, Dr. Edius Makono, who stated that the purpose of the advocacy visit was to align with the Board toward improving the training standards and operational readiness of community health practitioners in Nigeria.

“We are here to explore synergies and ensure that our training curricula and methodologies are in full alignment with the regulatory expectations of CHPRBN, ultimately producing a workforce that meets the health needs of our communities,” Dr. Makono said.

In his response, Assoc. Prof. Bashir Idris reiterated the Board’s readiness to partner with the Pan-African Health Sciences University. He urged the institution to continue striving for excellence in the production of a health workforce that is not only qualified but also deeply committed to serving humanity.

“The Board is open and fully prepared to work with you. We encourage you to sustain the highest standards in training, ensuring that every graduate is competent, compassionate, and ready to make a meaningful impact in community health delivery across Nigeria and beyond,” the Registrar/CEO stated.

The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) has today marked a historic milestone with a triple-event ceremony to strengthen accountability, scholarship, and professionalism in the community health sector.

The event, officially declared open by the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Hon. Amos Magaji Gwamna, witnessed the induction of newly qualified Community Health Officers (CHOs), the nationwide unveiling of an enforcement campaign, and the launch of a new academic journal.

In his keynote address, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of CHPRBN, Associate Professor Bashir Idris (Lifidin Jama’a), congratulated the inductees for completing their training and examinations. He charged them to serve with a sense of humility and empathy as they enter professional practice.

“You are stepping into a sacred covenant with communities that often lack access to orthodox medicine. Let humility guide your interactions and empathy shape your clinical decisions,” he said.

The Board formally launched its nationwide enforcement and compliance campaign tagged: Operation Show Me Your Valid License and Certificate. The initiative is designed to sanitise the profession by ensuring that only duly registered and licensed practitioners are allowed to practice across Nigeria.

The Registrar warned that henceforth, any practitioner unable to produce a valid license and certificate upon demand by enforcement teams will face immediate sanctions, including possible closure of facilities and prosecution.

In a move to bridge research and policy, CHPRBN unveiled its flagship peer-reviewed publication, the International Journal of Community Health Practice. The journal will serve as a platform for evidence-based research, policy dialogue, and innovation in community health.

Declaring the occasion open, Hon. Amos Magaji Gwamna commended CHPRBN for its regulatory vigilance and academic foresight. He reiterated the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting policies that protect the public from quackery and unprofessional conduct.

“A licensed practitioner is a safe practitioner. This campaign will receive our legislative backing,” Hon. Gwamna stated.

The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria acquired three Additional Operational Buses for effective Monitoring and supervision.

Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, the Honourable Minister of State for Health has commended the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, for its proactive efforts in strengthening the health sector through the acquisition of three operational vehicles aimed at enhancing monitoring and supervisory activities nationwide.

The Minister, who was represented at the commissioning ceremony by his Technical Advisers, described the development as a strategic step toward improving regulatory efficiency and ensuring quality service delivery across community health institutions. He noted that effective monitoring and supervision remain critical components in sustaining standards and accountability within the healthcare system.

According to the Minister, the Board’s investment in operational logistics reflects its commitment to advancing grassroots healthcare services and supporting the broader objectives of the Federal Government in achieving universal health coverage. CHPRBN Lauds Kaduna State University as First Public University in North-West to Approve Bachelor of Community Health Sciences (BCHS).

The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN) has announced a landmark academic milestone following a paid collaboration visit to Kaduna State University (KASU). The University Senate has officially approved the establishment of the Bachelor of Community Health Sciences (BCHS) program.

This achievement, described by the Board as historic, positions Kaduna State University as the first public university in the North-West geopolitical zone to approve the BCHS program. The development was hailed as a direct result of visionary leadership, particularly commending the capable and towering efforts of Ass. Professor Bashir Idris (Lifidin Jama’a)

Speaking during the visit, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of CHPRBN expressed profound appreciation to the university’s leadership for approving the BCHS program at the right time. He emphasised that the timing aligns with the nation’s growing need for skilled community health practitioners.

Beyond the undergraduate program, the Registrar formally requested that the university commence postgraduate programs in Community Health Sciences.
