Earlier today, I attended the 38th General Church Council (GCC) Choir Sing-Song Service of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) held in Nyanya, Karu, where I expressed my deep joy at being part of such a spiritually uplifting gathering and commended the choir for their unwavering dedication and powerful ministry through music.

It was more than a service, it was a profound reminder of the unifying power of worship. The harmony, discipline, and passion displayed by the choir reflect the very essence of what the music ministry represents: a bridge that connects hearts, strengthens faith, and binds the community together in one voice of praise.

In moments like this, one is reminded that beyond sermons, music speaks directly to the soul, inspiring hope, healing, and renewed commitment to God.

I particularly applauded the consistency and vision of the organizers for sustaining this remarkable tradition over the years.

The GCC Choir Sing-Song Service has grown into a beacon of spiritual excellence and communal fellowship, an enduring platform that continues to nurture talents, deepen worship, and unite believers across different walks of life.

In further demonstration of my belief in the transformative power of faith-based initiatives, I pledged to support the choir’s ongoing project to ensure it is completed as scheduled.

This gesture underscores a shared commitment to strengthening institutions that promote spiritual growth, social cohesion, and community development.

Indeed, when we invest in platforms that uplift the spirit, we are ultimately investing in a stronger, more united society.

BLOOD OF HEROES, STRENGTH OF A NATION
It is with great shock that I received the news of the Boko Haram attack on the Nigerian military that culminated in the loss of the brave soldiers of the 29 Task Force Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI, who died in a coordinated terrorist assault on their camp in Benisheikh, Borno State.

My heart is heavy with grief. These were not just soldiers, they were fathers, sons, brothers, and patriots who stood on the frontlines so that millions of Nigerians could sleep in peace.

Their courage, their sacrifice, and their unwavering commitment to the unity and security of our nation will forever be etched in our collective memory.

I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian military and to the families of these fallen heroes.

In this moment of unspeakable pain, I urge you to take heart. Though words may fail us, we must find strength in the noble lives they lived and the ultimate price they paid for the survival of our nation. May God grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

The Defence Headquarters has confirmed this tragic incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026. I join millions of Nigerians in mourning as I honour the memory of these gallant soldiers, led by Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our sovereignty.

Let it be said clearly and without hesitation: their sacrifices will not be in vain. The blood of our heroes cries out not for despair, but for renewed resolve. Because of their bravery, our determination as a nation to defeat terrorism and restore lasting peace is stronger than ever.

I also wish to reassure all Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fully committed and actively working to ensure that Nigeria remains stable and secure.

This tragic incident, while deeply painful, does not define us, it strengthens our unity and sharpens our collective resolve to overcome every threat to our nationhood.

Our armed forces continue to receive the necessary support, resources, and strategic direction to prosecute the fight against insurgency decisively.

In this solemn moment, I pray that Almighty God comforts the bereaved families and grants eternal rest to the souls of the departed heroes. May He strengthen and protect our troops still on the frontlines, watching over them as they defend our land with honour.

I pray for the wisdom, strength, and resilience of the president as he leads the nation through these challenging times.

May God also grant guidance and fortitude to Governor Babagana Zulum as he continues to steer Borno State through the complexities of security and rebuilding.

And to all Nigerians, may God unite us in purpose, heal our land, and grant us lasting peace.

May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in perfect peace. 🇳🇬

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL NIGERIANS

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, and my fellow Nigerians,

As we celebrate Easter, I am reminded of a timeless truth: after darkness comes light, after pain comes hope, and after the cross came resurrection. Easter calls us to faith, sacrifice, unity, compassion, and renewed hope. It reminds us that no matter how difficult the journey may be, God is able to bring victory out of pain and restoration out of brokenness.

Earlier, I had the honour of serving as Guest Preacher at COCIN LCC Tudun Wada, where I shared this message of hope, victory, and new life that comes from the resurrection of Christ. It was a moment of deep reflection and reassurance that even in challenging times, our faith must remain unshaken.

At this critical time in our national life, this message is especially important. Many families across our country are facing hardship, uncertainty, and the painful consequences of insecurity. Many homes are carrying burdens that words can hardly express. Yet, even in these difficult times, we must not surrender to fear or lose faith in the future of our nation.

I acknowledge the ongoing efforts of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen the security architecture of our country and ensure that the lives and property of Nigerians are better protected. While much still needs to be done, I urge all well-meaning Nigerians to continue supporting these sincere efforts aimed at restoring peace, safety, and stability across our land.

This is a time for national unity, shared responsibility, and collective resolve. Nigeria will only overcome her challenges when we choose hope over despair, unity over division, and service over selfishness.

As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us also pray for the resurrection of peace, justice, security, and national renewal in Nigeria.

May God comfort every grieving family.
May God protect our communities.
May God strengthen our leaders.
May God heal our land.

Christ is Risen. Hope is Alive. Nigeria will Rise Again.

Happy Easter, Nigeria ✝️🇳🇬

Earlier today, I paid a solemn visit to victims of the Angwan Rukuba attack receiving treatment at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), accompanied by my wife, Dr. Martina Yilwatda.

We stood with them in compassion and solidarity, sharing in their pain and reaffirming our collective responsibility to protect every Nigerian life.

What happened in Angwan Rukuba is painful, barbaric, and unacceptable. It is a direct assault on our shared humanity. This must not become another normal story.

I assured the victims and their families of the Federal Government’s firm resolve, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to protect lives and bring an end to these senseless killings.

I also commiserated with families who lost their loved ones and prayed for strength and comfort in this difficult time.

My sincere appreciation goes to the management and staff of JUTH for their swift and professional response in saving lives.

This tragedy must awaken all of us—leaders, communities, and citizens—to act with urgency, unity, and purpose. Plateau must not bleed again.

PRESS STATEMENT

OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC)

Plateau Must Never Bleed Again: APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Hails President Tinubu’s Compassionate Visit, Demands Decisive Action Against Killers

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has commended the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to Plateau State to commiserate with the government and people of the state over the recent horrific and senseless killings of innocent residents of Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area.

The President’s visit is a profound demonstration of responsive leadership, empathy, and national solidarity at a time when the people of Plateau are grieving the painful and unjust loss of their loved ones to yet another round of barbaric violence.

President Tinubu was received in Plateau State by the National Chairman, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, former governors, political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, elders, women and youth representatives, as well as stakeholders from across all segments of society in the state.

Speaking during the visit, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, condemned the killings in the strongest and most unequivocal terms, describing the attack as inhuman, cowardly, reprehensible, and a direct assault on the peace, unity, and soul of Plateau State.
According to Professor Yilwatda, the continued shedding of innocent blood in Plateau is not only unacceptable but a national tragedy that must no longer be treated with routine outrage and temporary responses.

In a Statement signed by Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser to the National Chairman on Media and Communications stategy, Yilwatda stressed that the time has come for deliberate, coordinated, and result-oriented efforts by all relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure that such dastardly and unconscionable acts never happen again in Plateau State or anywhere else in the country.

Professor Yilwatda called on leaders of communities across Plateau State to become more vigilant, responsive, and proactive in identifying and reporting suspicious movements and security threats within their domains.

He noted that the recurring pattern of killings strongly suggests that many of those behind these heinous acts are not ghosts or invisible invaders, but criminal elements and miscreants living within or around the communities, exploiting local vulnerabilities to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.

In his words, these evil perpetrators must no longer be shielded by silence, fear, complicity, or communal indifference. He insisted that they must be identified, exposed, apprehended, and made to face the full wrath of the law.

The APC National Chairman further charged security agencies to urgently rethink and upgrade their security architecture and operational methods in tackling the persistent violence in Plateau State.

He emphasized that the security agencies cannot continue to deploy outdated tactics against increasingly adaptive and ruthless criminal networks and expect a different outcome.

Professor Yilwatda therefore advocated the deployment of modern surveillance and intelligence-driven technology, including Artificial Intelligence-powered cameras, drones, advanced tracking systems, and real-time intelligence gathering mechanisms, to detect, monitor, and neutralize criminal elements before they strike.

He said the era demands smarter, faster, and more sophisticated security responses, adding that the protection of lives and property must now be driven not only by manpower, but also by technology, intelligence, precision, and accountability.

He stated clearly that Plateau cannot continue to mourn in cycles, while the enemies of peace roam freely and repeatedly unleash terror on innocent citizens.

Professor Yilwatda also drew attention to the grave economic implications of insecurity in Plateau State, lamenting that the state, which is richly blessed with breathtaking natural landscapes, vibrant tourism assets, and enormous economic potential, has continued to suffer avoidable setbacks due to persistent violence.

He noted that Plateau has long been celebrated as a peaceful and attractive destination with some of Nigeria’s most vibrant tourism centres, cultural attractions, and agricultural potential, but all of these opportunities remain vulnerable and stunted in the face of recurring attacks.

According to him, no economy can thrive where fear reigns, no investment can flourish where blood is spilled, and no society can truly prosper where innocent citizens live under the shadow of insecurity.

He warned that without adequate protection of lives and communities, the social and economic future of the state could be severely paralysed, thereby depriving the people, especially young people, of prosperity, stability, and hope.

Professor Yilwatda therefore called for a whole-of-society approach to ending the violence in Plateau, urging traditional institutions, religious leaders, political actors, youth groups, women’s groups, security operatives, and community stakeholders to work together in honesty and patriotism to restore peace and stability.

During the visit, other leaders from across Plateau State also spoke passionately on the disturbing security situation in the state and the urgent need for decisive and sustained intervention to halt the bloodshed and restore confidence among the people.

As part of the visit, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, former leaders, and other key stakeholders, also paid a solemn and deeply emotional visit to the families of the affected victims of the Angwan Rukuba attack.

The visit to the bereaved families was a moving moment of compassion and national mourning, as the President shared in their pain and offered words of comfort, reassurance, and solidarity in the face of unimaginable loss.

The APC notes that this visit by President Tinubu is not merely symbolic; it is a powerful signal that the Federal Government stands firmly with the people of Plateau State and remains committed to confronting the menace of violent attacks with renewed urgency and seriousness.

It is expected that the President will, in the days ahead, continue broader engagements with leaders of Plateau communities and critical stakeholders toward evolving practical, inclusive, and lasting solutions that will guarantee sustainable peace, justice, reconciliation, and security for the people of the state.

The APC reiterates that the lives of Plateau citizens are sacred and non-negotiable, and that those who delight in sowing death, fear, and division among peaceful communities must be hunted down and brought to justice without delay.

The blood of innocent men, women, and children cries out for justice, and the nation must answer with resolve.

Plateau deserves peace.
Plateau deserves healing.
Plateau deserves protection.

And above all, Plateau must never be allowed to bleed like this again.

Abimbola Tooki

CONDOLENCE STATEMENT
The tragic and senseless attack on innocent residents of Angwan Rukuba Community in Jos North Local Government Area is one that I condemn in the strongest possible terms.

This barbaric act of violence, which has led to the painful loss of precious lives and left many families in sorrow, is deeply heartbreaking and completely unacceptable. Reports on Monday said the attack prompted a 48-hour curfew in Jos North, with police confirming multiple deaths and several injuries.

My heartfelt condolences go to the families who have lost their loved ones in this painful incident.

No words can truly heal the grief and trauma that such a wicked act has caused, but I pray that God grants the bereaved families the strength, comfort, and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.

I also stand in solidarity with the entire Angwan Rukuba community, all residents of Jos North and the Plateau State Government at this difficult time. My prayers are with every family affected, the injured receiving treatment, and all those living in fear and uncertainty as a result of this unfortunate tragedy.

Let me assure Nigerians that the Federal Government under the able leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully committed to confronting and defeating banditry, terrorism, and all forms of criminality across our country.

Security agencies are being strengthened and every necessary step is being taken to restore peace, protect lives, and ensure that those behind these heinous acts are brought to justice.

At this critical moment, we must remain united, vigilant, and prayerful. I pray that God comforts the people of Angwan Rukuba, heals the wounded, protects Plateau State, and restores lasting peace, safety, and harmony to our dear nation, Nigeria.
