PRP Upholds Primary Election Results, Fields Donald Duke, 420 Others Nationwide for 2027 Elections

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has, on Friday 5th June 2026, concluded review of the report of the primaries appeal committee, and has approved the report.

Consequently, former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke is validly elected as the party's presidential candidate in 2027 general elections. The primaries appeal committee also upheld four other primary election outcomes. All other candidates have been duly cleared to contest in the upcoming elections, with the exception of Tarauni Federal Constituency, whose election has been nullified.

In line with our commitment to active participation in the electoral process, the PRP is proud to field a total of 420 candidates across all positions in the 2027 general elections.

We remain committed to principles of internal democracy and service and to delivering a credible and transformative leadership for Nigeria.

2027: Donald Duke emerges PRP presidential flag bearer

Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), on Tuesday, declared a former Governor of Cross River, Donald Duke, as its presidential flag bearer for the 2027 general elections.

The party’s National Chairman, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, who made the announcement at the PRP national secretariat in Abuja, said Duke secured the presidential ticket after scoring the highest votes at the primary election.

Baba-Ahmed stated that Duke swept the polls with 6,499 votes, with his closest rival, Kingsley Yakubu, who mounted a nationwide campaign focusing on youth inclusion and economic reform, scoring 2,699 votes.

He said that Dr Nnaoke Ufere, an academic and policy expert, got third place with 784 votes.

While declaring the official results, Baba-Ahmed said that the exercise was free, credible and devoid of any form of bias.
