EID-EL-KABIR: INSTITUTE CALLS FOR SACRIFICE, PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE AND NATIONAL UNITY

The Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) extends warm greetings to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, calling for deeper reflection on the values of sacrifice, love, empathy, and peaceful coexistence that the celebration represents.

Eid-el-Kabir, which commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice in obedience to God, and coincides with the rites of Hajj in Mecca, including the standing at Arafat, remains a profound spiritual reminder of devotion, discipline, and submission to divine will.

The festival goes beyond religious observance, serving as a universal lesson in sacrifice, compassion, and shared humanity.

The symbolic act of sacrifice during Eid underscores the importance of giving, sharing with the less privileged, and fostering a culture of care within communities.

These values are essential not only to Muslims but also to non-Muslims, as they reinforce social cohesion, mutual respect, and national harmony.

The Institute calls on Nigerians to use the occasion to strengthen bonds of friendship and unity, shun divisive tendencies, and reject all forms of hatred, extremism, and discrimination that threaten peaceful coexistence.

In a diverse society such as Nigeria, peace remains the foundation for sustainable development and national progress.

The National Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution remains committed to promoting peaceful living, early conflict prevention, mediation, and dialogue across communities, institutions, and regions.

Government and stakeholders at all levels are to continue to sustain policies and initiatives that strengthen peacebuilding, justice, and inclusive governance.

Citizens are to remain law-abiding during the Eid celebrations, observe the festivities in peace and harmony, and demonstrate empathy towards the vulnerable, the needy, and displaced persons within society.

Acts of kindness and charity during this period should be seen as vital contributions to building a more compassionate and stable nation.

The institute congratulates Muslim faithful, and reaffirms its belief that lasting peace can only be achieved through collective responsibility, mutual understanding, and sustained commitment to peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians regardless of religious or ethnic background.

Signed:
Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, Director General, Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution

Happy Eid-el-KabirWishing you and your loved ones Joy, Prosperity, and abundant blessings.
