Israel has announced secured funding for the fifth edition of the Innovation Fellowship for Aspiring Inventors and Researchers, with the programme set to launch in October to empower and support Nigerian innovators.

Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria Michael Freeman made the announcement on Saturday in Abuja at the closing ceremony and innovation showcase of the fourth iFAIR cohort.

The nine-month programme, jointly implemented by the Embassy of Israel in Nigeria, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund and Innov8 Hub, provides mentorship, technical support and investment opportunities to help Nigerian researchers and early-stage entrepreneurs turn innovative ideas into sustainable businesses.

Yesterday, our EcoLab team participated in the 2025 Zero Waste Eco-Fair in Abuja; an initiative by , MinistFederal Ministry of Environment nd the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) that brought together stakeholders, innovators, and sustainability leaders to discuss upcycling, clean energy, and sustainable living as a lifestyle to build more a circular Nigeria

We exhibited some of our eco-solutions and engaged attendees on our work around innovating waste as a valuable resource for prototype development and venture creation (Check our IG Stories for all the gist!)

The best part? We met with some of our iFAIR fellows doing incredible work:
Dozie Igweilo, who's transforming e-waste into solar-powered solutions at QuadLoop Technologies and Adejoke Lasisi, who's giving textile waste a second life through Planet 3R

Every booth, every prototype, every conversation at reminded us that innovation isn’t always about inventing something new but about rethinking what we already have and making it better.

Innov8 Hub welcomed Her Excellency, Ambassador Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, the Nigerian Ambassador to Israel, alongside Ambassador Michael Freeman, the Ambassador of the State of Israel in Nigeria, and Rachel Stavissky, the Deputy Ambassador of the State of Israel in Nigeria, on a strategic visit aimed at deepening the collaboration between the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria and Innov8 Hub.

Following her recent appointment in March 2026, the visit served as an introduction to Innov8 Hub and the iFAIR initiative, while exploring opportunities to further advance innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and bilateral cooperation between both nations.

We look forward to building stronger bridges that empower innovators, create opportunities, and drive sustainable development.
