NACTAL NIGERIA MOVES TO STRENGTHEN ITS DATA GATHERING, SHARING AND PROTECTION SYSTEM.

At a 3day Learning Lab on Monitoring & Evaluation and the use of National Reporting and Data Collection Tools for CSOs held in Golden Dabis Hotel, Keffi supported by FIAP. NACTAL Nigeria mobilised her members across the 36 states including the FCT to internally evaluate, review and realign her approach and interventions to respond to national indicators and reporting templates.

United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) organises a 3day Bilateral Coorperation between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Ghana.

The event took place in Johnwood Hotels from 11th through 13th May, 2026.
WACTIPSOM Regional Representative - Mr. Abdulganiyu Abubakar, Ghana WACTIPSOM Coordinator - Mr. Eric among other delegates from Nigeria and Ghana governments attended the maiden event.

The event aims to develop a Bilateral Coorperation framework that will allow and enable adequate protection, identification, referrals, and reintegration services for smuggled migrants and victims of trafficking in persons in the two countries.

On the 30th of March 2026, The National President of the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL), Mr. Abdulganiyu Abubakar, accompanied by members of his team, paid an official visit to the Child Protection Network (CPN),Nigeria. The visit was strategic in nature, aimed at bridging the operational gap between the two networks by establishing a closer working relationship that would enable concerns around child protection, child trafficking, child rights abuse to be received, disseminated, and handled more efficiently.

The CPN National Coordinator commended the NACTAL President for his exemplary and dedicated service, acknowledging the significant strides made under his leadership in advancing the cause of child protection.

In his response, Mr. Abdulganiyu Abubakar expressed sincere appreciation to the CPN leadership and team for the warm and hospitable reception extended to him and his team. He reaffirmed that both networks have been actively engaged on similar case types and that their collaboration has proven to be impactful. He emphasised that the partnership between NACTAL and CPN is one that is not only valuable but worth sustaining, citing the complementary nature of their work and the greater outcomes achievable through joint efforts.

UPDATE ON NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION ICON AWARD PRESENTATION (4th Annual Child and Society Conference and Awards 2026)

The Chief Executive Officer of Save the Child Initiative (STCI) and National President of the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL), Nigeria, Mr. Abdulganiyu Abubakar, was on Wednesday, 25th March 2026, honoured by the Child Protection Network (CPN), Nigeria.

The recognition took place at the 4th Annual Child and Society Conference and Award, 2026, where Mr. Abdulganiyu Abubakar received the prestigious National Child Protection Icon Award. The award was presented by the National Coordinator of CPN, Nigeria, Comrade Olakunle Ismael Sani.

The honour was bestowed in recognition of Mr. Abdulganiyu Abubakar’s outstanding contributions to child protection in Nigeria, as well as his efforts in mobilizing and uniting child protection networks across the country.

The Annual Child and Society Conference and Award is an initiative of the Child Protection Network (CPN), Nigeria, aimed at promoting child rights, protection, and collaborative action among stakeholders.

In his response, Mr. Abdulganiyu Abubakar expressed profound appreciation to the Child Protection Network, Nigeria, which he described as the largest child protection platform in Africa. He commended the organization for its unwavering commitment to child protection, networking, and collaboration nationwide.

He further reiterated his commitment to continue supporting and strengthening the child protection system in Nigeria.

On the invitation of the Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Lagos State, Lawal Pedro SAN and the Executive Director, Sudrik Global Justice Institute, Pepperdine University, California USA, Professor Cameron Mc Collum. NACTAL President participated and moderated a panel session on the 2025 African Colloquium Against Human Trafficking: A United Front Against Ritual Abuse and Sacrifice taking place at Radisson Blu Hotel Lagos Nigeria on 24th to 25th October 2025.

This is an initiative and partnership of the Pepperdine Sudris Global Institute and the Lagos State Government.
Over 400 legal practitioners ranging from Attorney Generals and Commissioners of Justices of several states in Nigeria and other countries of West, East and Central Africa as well as law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and civil society organizations including community and religious leaders gathered in Lagos to deliberate on this very important topic which has remained silent for a very long time.

There was an unanimous resolution by all stakeholders that it is important to confront this menace with all available laws and legislations as well as building strong partnerships

The President was honored to have had the chance once again to represent civil society organizations working on human trafficking and exploitation in Nigeria and West Africa on the invitation of the Government of Lagos state.

He remains ever committed to lending his voice towards ending all forms of human trafficking and exploitation in Nigeria and around the world
