Disclaimer Regarding the Purported ADC Abia State Primaries

The Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been made aware of a so-called “State Primaries” held today, which purportedly produced some "candidates" with strange names unknown to the party structure.

To clarify, the Abia State ADC or its State Executive Committee did not conduct or participate in the so-called state primaries; therefore, the results are null and void and legally invalid.

The official schedule for the ADC State Primaries remains as follows:
a) State and National Assembly Primaries – Friday, 22nd May 2026
b) Governorship Primaries – Saturday, 23rd May 2026
(c) National Convention/Presidential Primaries - Sunday, 24th May 2026.

Valid State Primaries in Abia State require the active participation and approval of the Abia ADC State Executive Committee and authentic members in the state.

We urge all genuine Abia ADC members, party leaders, and the public to disregard the purported primaries and the candidates purportedly emerging from them. The exercise was unauthorised, irregular, and does not reflect the stance of the Abia State Executive Committee (SEC) or the broader ADC family.

The ADC in Abia State remains committed to the principles of due process, internal democracy, and the rule of law. The ADC and INEC will recognise primaries conducted in accordance with the April 29 2026, Federal High Court, Abuja judgment, the party's constitution and guidelines.
