Presentation of Promotion Letters to Newly Promoted Staff of SWAO II, Ogun

On behalf of the Acting Director, Mrs. Grace Halima Elabor, Mrs. Afolayan C. O. formally presented promotion letters to three of the eight staff members of the South-West Area Office II, Ogun who were recently elevated to higher ranks in the Scheme.
The beneficiaries included Mr. Osinubi and Mrs. Daramola Adeola, who were promoted to the rank of Deputy Director, as well as Miss Esther Ibironke, who was promoted to the rank of Inspector I.
In her remarks, Mrs. Afolayan congratulated the newly promoted officers on their well-deserved advancement and commended their dedication and hard work. She encouraged them to see the promotion as a call to greater responsibility and higher productivity in the discharge of their duties.
She further expressed optimism that more members of staff would benefit from promotion exercises in the future and prayed for continued growth and career advancement for all officers of the South West Area Office ll Ogun.

NYSC Rallies Stakeholders to Revamp Community Development Efforts

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) South West Area Office II, Abeokuta, has reaffirmed its commitment to youth-driven community development by hosting a high-level stakeholders' workshop at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Themed “Five Decades of Community Development Service: Building Partnerships for Effective Youth Participation,” the workshop brought together key government officials, academics, and stakeholders to explore strategies for revitalizing the NYSC Community Development Service (CDS) program for greater impact.

Declaring the workshop open, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isaka, commended the NYSC for its unwavering dedication to community service. He emphasized the crucial role of youth in nation-building, citing Nelson Mandela’s words: "The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow." He also referenced former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s statement that "Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation," stressing the need for their active participation in sustainable development.

Abiodun highlighted Ogun State’s investment in youth empowerment, including vocational training, mentorship, and entrepreneurship programs aimed at equipping young people with the skills to drive economic and social progress.

In her keynote address, NYSC South West Area Office II Director, Mrs. Olaleye Francisca, called for a renewed focus on the CDS program. She emphasized the need for an in-depth evaluation to address urgent community needs while acknowledging that dwindling funding has affected the program’s effectiveness.

NYSC Ogun State Coordinator, Mrs. Olayinka Diana Nasamu, presented a paper titled "Five Decades of Community Development Service: Building Partnerships for Effective Youth Participation." She underscored the importance of forging strong collaborations to ensure the success of NYSC’s CDS initiatives.

Dr. Rotimi Olukoya, Deputy Registrar of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, stressed the critical role of partnerships in enhancing Corps Members' contributions to community development. He noted that government agencies, non-governmental organizations, international bodies, and philanthropists must provide the resources and expertise needed to support impactful projects.

Speaking on national development, Professor James Adedayo Oguntuase outlined NYSC’s role in fostering unity, discipline, education, healthcare, and skill acquisition. He described the scheme as a vital force in bridging Nigeria’s diverse regions and equipping Corps Members with hands-on project management experience while making a lasting impact on host communities.

The workshop featured interactive sessions with contributions from Lagos State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Christina Salwang; Oyo State Coordinator, Mr. Abel Odoba Oche; and other key stakeholders.

At the end of the event, participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the NYSC CDS program, ensuring that Corps Members continue to drive meaningful development in communities across the country.

More fortunes continue to fall on the NYSC SOUTH WEST AREA OFFICE II under the Leadership of Mrs. Franscisca Olaleye as the Office Complex is looking better every day.
Earlier today, Fidelity Bank also donated a new Elepaq Generator to the NYSC SWAO II in Ogun. The Director and other staff members received the generator and expressed gratitude to the management of Fidelity Bank for this generous gift.

The SWAO II Office now ranks as one of the most beautiful and well-equipped edifice among the newly created Area Offices by the NYSC.

NYSC SOUTHWEST II DIRECTOR, FRANCISCA OLALEYE INSPIRES CORPS MEMBERS TO LEAVE A LEGACY

The Director, NYSC Southwest Area Office 2, Mrs. Francisca Olaleye, has charged the 2024 Batch’C’ Stream 2 corps members in Oyo states to make a lasting impact during their service year.

Mrs Olaleye gave the charge while addressing the 2024 Batch’C’ Stream 2 Corps members during her visit to NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Iseyin, Oyo State.

Speaking passionately about the NYSC’s four cardinal programs, she emphasized the importance of discipline, community development, and cultural integration. "Wherever you are, do not drag your name into the mud because of your background," she advised.

With 33 years of service in NYSC and various leadership roles, Mrs. Olaleye described corps members as her dear children" and encouraged them to take Community Development Service (CDS) seriously. "After your PPA, CDS is your next major responsibility. It is a key part of the NYSC program, and wherever you go, you must make a difference," she said.

Regarding projects, she highlighted the need to follow due process. "You cannot site a project on disputed land, and you must not fund it yourself," she warned. However, she assured that corps members who relocate can still execute projects in their new states.

Reflecting on the beauty of NYSC, she spoke about cultural integration, urging corps members to embrace and understand the traditions of their host communities. She also highlighted the significance of the Passing Out Ceremony, which marks the completion of their service year.

In a heartfelt moment, Mrs. Olaleye, known for her warm and engaging personality, serenaded corps members with *I Will Always Love You* by Celine Dion.

She then walked around the camp to inspect the facilities, such as the camp clinic, the newly built Assistant Director’s quarters, and the ongoing 5,000-capacity hall project, and personally said goodbye to each platoon, ensuring they would always remember her.

Her visit left corps members inspired and motivated to serve with integrity, impact their communities, and uphold the values of NYSC.
