The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, mSPSP, on Tuesday, 18th August, 2026, joined other heads of security and paramilitary agencies, as well as Executive governor of Ogun State,Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON and others top Ogun State government functionaries, to receive the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, during her official visit to Ogun State.

Her Excellency arrived at the airport in Ogun State at approximately 1113 hours, where she was received by the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, his entourage, wives of political and public office holders, and heads of security and paramilitary agencies in the State.

Among the dignitaries present were Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, Wife of the Ogun State Governor; Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi); Senator Salisu Shuaib Afolabi; Hon. Afolabi Afuwape, and other distinguished guests.

Also present were heads and representatives of security and paramilitary agencies, including:

1. Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, mSPSP – State Commandant, NSCDC, Ogun State Command;
2. CP Bode Ojajuni – Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command;
3. E.A. Omonayajo – Commander, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE);
4. Brigadier General F.O. Onu – Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta; and
5. Director R.A. Adelakun, fsi+ – State Director, Department of State Services (DSS), Ogun State Command.

The presence of the State Government, security chiefs, and other relevant stakeholders provided effective coordination, protocol, and security coverage for the high-level visit.

Following the reception, Her Excellency proceeded to Sagamu, where she commissioned the Food Bank Project. She thereafter proceeded to Abeokuta for the commissioning of the Gateway Federal Medical Centre, a significant development initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and improving access to quality medical services in the State.

The visit culminated at the Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, where the First Lady addressed members of the public and other invited dignitaries.

The entire programme was successfully conducted in a peaceful, orderly, and secure atmosphere, with security and emergency response agencies maintaining effective coordination throughout the various locations visited.

No security incident was recorded throughout the visit.

The Ogun State Command of the NSCDC remains committed to sustained inter-agency collaboration and effective security coordination towards ensuring the safety of residents, visitors, dignitaries, and critical government facilities across the State.

PCRC OGUN HOLDS PRE-COMMISSIONING AND APPRECIATION AWARD CEREMONY FOR IBARA GRA COMMUNITY SECURITY BUILDING

The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ogun State Command, in partnership with the Ibara GRA Community Security Initiative, on Tuesday, 18th August, 2026, held a successful Pre-Commissioning and Appreciation Award Ceremony for the newly constructed Ibara GRA Community Security Building, Abeokuta.

The event, which commenced at 10:00 a.m., brought together traditional rulers, security agencies, community leaders, corporate stakeholders, residents, and other distinguished guests under the theme:

“Together, Building a Safer Community Through Partnership and Service.”

In his address, the Chairman of PCRC, Ogun State Command, Comrade Lawal Abdullahi, commended the leadership and residents of Ibara GRA for their commitment to the project. He described the facility as a significant milestone in community-driven security and a practical demonstration of the benefits of sustained partnership between security agencies and the communities they serve.

He noted that the initiative would strengthen security coordination, facilitate timely information sharing, and enhance community participation in crime prevention and public safety.

Speaking on behalf of the Ibara GRA community, Dr. John Ade Abolurin, OFR, former Commandant-General of NSCDC, commended the initiative and encouraged residents to continue supporting credible community security projects.

He emphasized that collective investment in security would help communities prevent and respond effectively to criminal activities, including kidnapping, robbery, vandalism, and other threats to public safety. He also expressed appreciation to individuals, organisations, and security stakeholders whose financial, material, and moral contributions facilitated the completion of the project.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of Appreciation Awards to individuals, corporate organisations, community members, and security partners who made significant contributions to the conceptualisation, funding, construction, and completion of the facility.

The event also provided an opportunity for security agencies and community stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to intelligence sharing, early warning mechanisms, community engagement, and coordinated responses to emerging security threats.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were:

1. His Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, Alake of Egbaland, represented by Chief Alabi Sotirin, the Bada Sagua of Egbaland;

Speaking on behalf of sister security agencies, CSP Balogun Lateef, DPO Ibara Division, reaffirmed the commitment of security agencies to sustained collaboration with the PCRC, community leaders, and other stakeholders in strengthening security and protecting lives and property across Ogun State.

The newly constructed Ibara GRA Community Security Building is expected to serve as an important coordination point for community security activities, intelligence gathering, information sharing, and engagement between residents and security agencies.

The ceremony underscored the importance of community ownership and collective responsibility in security management, demonstrating that sustainable security is best achieved through effective partnership between security agencies, traditional institutions, communities, corporate organisations, and other stakeholders.

The PCRC Ogun State Command expressed appreciation to all guests, donors, partners, security agencies, and members of the Ibara GRA community for their contributions towards the successful completion of the project.

NSCDC OGUN COMMAND DEPLOYS SECOND BATCH OF PERSONNEL AND OPERATIONAL RESOURCES TO OSUN FOR 2026 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

In furtherance of its commitment to ensuring a peaceful, free, fair, and credible electoral process, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, on Thursday, 13th August, 2026, deployed the second batch of personnel, operational vehicles, and other logistics to Osun State ahead of the forthcoming Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, 15th August, 2026.

The deployment is in compliance with the directive of the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, OFR, mni, mandating State Commands to provide adequate manpower and operational support towards ensuring effective security coverage before, during, and after the election.

The second batch is expected to complement the first batch deployed on Wednesday, 12th August, 2026, thereby further strengthening the Corps’ operational presence, mobility, and response capacity in Osun State.

Addressing the contingent shortly before their departure from the State Headquarters, Owu-Dekudu, Abeokuta, the State Commandant, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, mSPSP, charged the personnel to exhibit the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, neutrality, vigilance, and inter-agency cooperation throughout the assignment.

The Commandant emphasized that the conduct of security personnel is critical to the credibility and success of the electoral process. She therefore directed all deployed personnel to remain strictly apolitical, courteous, impartial, and respectful of the rights of all citizens.

She warned against partisanship, misconduct, abuse of authority, intimidation, or any action capable of compromising the integrity and reputation of the Corps.

“Any officer found wanting will face the full weight of the law and the applicable internal disciplinary procedures,” she stated.

Commandant Ekundayo further relayed the directives of the Commandant General and charged the personnel to discharge their responsibilities in accordance with operational orders, Rules of Engagement, and lawful directives.

She specifically directed the deployed personnel to:

1. Safeguard Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, including INEC offices, collation centres, and other designated critical facilities.
2. Provide security at polling units, collation centres, and other designated locations in collaboration with sister security agencies.
3. Prevent and promptly respond to acts of thuggery, ballot snatching, violence, intimidation, and other activities capable of disrupting the electoral process.
4. Respect the rights and dignity of voters, electoral officials, accredited observers, journalists, and other stakeholders.
5. Maintain effective communication and operational coordination with other security agencies throughout the assignment.

The Commandant reiterated that the NSCDC remains committed to the effective discharge of its statutory responsibilities, particularly the protection of lives and property, safeguarding of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, and support for peaceful democratic processes.

She assured the people of Osun State that the Ogun State contingent would work closely with the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, Federal Road Safety Corps, and other relevant stakeholders towards maintaining peace and security throughout the electoral period.

The Ogun State Command therefore enjoined the people of Osun State to remain law-abiding, exercise their civic responsibilities peacefully, and cooperate with security personnel deployed to protect the electoral process.

The Command reassures the public of its readiness to contribute meaningfully to the delivery of a peaceful, secure, free, fair, and credible governorship election in Osun State.

Ahead of the forthcoming Osun State Governorship Election, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, has deployed a contingent of officers to Osun State as part of the Corps’ inter-command support and operational reinforcement towards ensuring a peaceful, safe, and credible electoral process.

The deployment, which comprises hundreds of specially selected and operationally trained personnel, is aimed at strengthening security coverage, protecting lives and property, safeguarding electoral infrastructure and materials, and supporting other security agencies in maintaining law and order before, during, and after the election.

As part of the operational deployment, a Show of Force exercise will be conducted at strategic locations across Osun State to demonstrate security preparedness, deter criminal elements, and reassure members of the public.

Addressing the personnel shortly before their departure from the Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, the State Commandant, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, mSPSP, charged the officers to approach the assignment with the highest level of professionalism, discipline, dedication, and impartiality.

She urged the personnel to remain dedicated, diligent, pragmatic, focused, and responsive in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Commandant Ekundayo emphasized that professionalism, neutrality, and strict adherence to operational orders and Rules of Engagement are critical to the success of any electoral security assignment.

She warned personnel against partisan political activities, abuse of power, intimidation, misconduct, or any action capable of compromising the neutrality and integrity of the Corps.

The Commandant further directed the officers to respect the rights of citizens, maintain effective communication with other security agencies, and respond promptly and professionally to emerging security situations within their areas of deployment.

She assured the people of Osun State that the NSCDC, in collaboration with other security agencies under the established electoral security framework, remains committed to providing a secure environment for the conduct of a peaceful, free, fair, and credible election.

Commandant Ekundayo also called on residents of Osun State, political actors, community leaders, and other stakeholders to cooperate with security personnel and conduct themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process.

She urged the electorate to exercise their civic responsibilities responsibly and avoid actions capable of disrupting the peace and security of the State.

NSCDC OGUN STATE COMMAND, IN COLLABORATION WITH TRUSTFUND PENSIONS LIMITED, HOLDS RETIREMENT WELFARE SENSITIZATION FOR PERSONNEL

In furtherance of its commitment to the welfare of personnel and the promotion of financial security after service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, in collaboration with Trustfund Pensions Limited, on Monday, 3rd August, 2026, organized a strategic awareness and sensitization programme on retirement welfare for officers and men of the Command at the State Headquarters, Owu-Dekudu, Abeokuta.

The interactive session was designed to equip personnel with comprehensive knowledge of retirement planning, pension administration, and welfare provisions under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in accordance with the Pension Reform Act, 2014, and the guidelines of the National Pension Commission (PenCom).

The programme was held on behalf of the State Commandant, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, mSPSP, by the Deputy Commandant of Corps and Second-in-Command, DCC Rafiu Popoola, who represented the State Commandant. He was joined by members of the Command Management Team, Heads of Departments, Unit Heads, and other senior officers.

The delegation from Trustfund Pensions Limited was led by the Branch Manager, Mrs. Bukola Julius, accompanied by pension experts and customer relations officers.

Delivering the State Commandant’s address, DCC Popoola reiterated that the leadership of the Command remains deliberate and committed to the welfare of personnel, both while in active service and after retirement.

According to him: “A well-informed officer is a secure officer. Continuous sensitization on government policies, particularly those relating to pension administration and retirement benefits, is essential to promoting transparency, boosting morale, and ensuring that our officers retire with dignity and financial confidence.”

He urged personnel to take pension matters seriously, remain properly informed, avoid misinformation, and take advantage of the expertise of licensed Pension Fund Administrators to adequately prepare for life after service.

A major highlight of the programme was an extensive presentation by Trustfund Pensions Limited on ‘Modes of Accessing Retirement Benefits under the Contributory Pension Scheme.’

Participants were enlightened on the two statutory retirement benefit options available under the CPS:

* Programmed Withdrawal: Administered by Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs), this option provides periodic pension payments based on the retiree’s life expectancy and Retirement Savings Account (RSA) balance. The RSA continues to earn investment returns, while any residual balance remains payable to nominated beneficiaries.
* Retiree Life Annuity: Administered by licensed Life Insurance Companies, this option guarantees pension payments for life, including a minimum ten-year guaranteed payment period. Under this arrangement, the insurance company assumes both investment and longevity risks, providing retirees with stable and predictable income.

The pension experts also educated participants on other critical pension-related issues, including 25% RSA withdrawal in the event of job loss, voluntary contributions, updating personal records, NIN/BVN harmonization, transfer of Retirement Savings Accounts between PFAs, and complaint resolution mechanisms through PenCom.

The programme featured an engaging interactive session during which officers sought clarification on delayed pension remittances, change of Pension Fund Administrators, computation of retirement benefits, death benefit administration, and other pension-related matters. The resource persons provided practical guidance and distributed educational materials to further assist personnel in making informed retirement decisions.

In her remarks, the Branch Manager of Trustfund Pensions Limited, Mrs. Bukola Julius, appreciated the leadership of the Ogun State Command for providing the platform to educate personnel.

She stated: “We are delighted to partner with the NSCDC Ogun State Command. Our objective is to ensure that every officer understands the workings of the Contributory Pension Scheme, plans adequately for retirement, and enjoys financial security after service. We remain committed to bringing our services closer to contributors and providing the necessary support whenever required.”

The Ogun State Command reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its personnel, noting that officers remain the Corps’ greatest asset in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities, including the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, disaster management, and the maintenance of peace and public safety across Ogun State.

The Command further assured personnel that additional welfare-oriented enlightenment programmes would continue to be organized as part of ongoing efforts to improve staff welfare, strengthen institutional capacity, and promote informed participation in government welfare initiatives.

The Peace and Development Studies Programme of the Institute of Communication and General Studies, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB, has paid a courtesy visit to the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The visit was aimed at strengthening "town and gown" relations and exploring areas of mutual collaboration in peace building, security, and national development.

The delegation, led by the Programme Leader, *PROFESSOR Temitope A. Olaifa Ph.D; fsp; fism*, was received by the Ogun State Commandant, *Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, mSPSP*, at the State Headquarters, Abeokuta.

During the engagement, Prof. Olaifa commended the NSCDC for its pivotal role in the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, disaster management, and internal security. She noted that the Corps has remained a reliable partner in maintaining peace and stability across Ogun State.

She disclosed that the visit was part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between the academia and security agencies. She further stated that the collaboration would focus on joint research, training, workshops, and community sensitization programmes on conflict resolution, peace education, and security awareness.

In her response, Commandant Ekundayo expressed appreciation to the FUNAAB delegation for the visit. She described the relationship between the Corps and academic institutions as strategic to national security, adding that research-driven solutions are key to addressing contemporary security challenges.

The State Commandant reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to partnership with FUNAAB, stressing that synergy and intelligence sharing between security agencies and academic institutions will enhance policy formulation and grassroots peace initiatives. She assured the delegation of the Command’s readiness to participate in joint programmes that will benefit both the Corps and the society at large.

She further noted that the NSCDC, as a major stakeholder in internal security, remains open to evidence-based collaboration that promotes peaceful coexistence, youth engagement, and the protection of lives and property in Ogun State.

The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday, 21st July, 2026, received the newly deployed Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Brigadier General F. O. Onu, during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters, Owu-Dekudu, Abeokuta.

The visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the Nigerian Army and the NSCDC, while reaffirming the commitment of both security agencies to enhanced inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding lives and property, protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), and promoting peace and security across Ogun State.

Speaking during the visit, Brigadier General Onu commended the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for its unwavering commitment to the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, describing the Corps as a dependable partner in Nigeria’s internal security architecture.

He praised the professionalism, dedication, and operational commitment of officers and men of the Ogun State Command, noting that their intelligence-driven operations and proactive engagements have continued to make significant contributions to the maintenance of peace, public safety, and the protection of strategic national assets within the State.

The Brigade Commander emphasized that contemporary security challenges require sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, joint operations, and effective coordination among all security agencies. He assured the Command of the Nigerian Army’s continued support and cooperation in addressing emerging security threats and enhancing the overall security of Ogun State.

Responding, the State Commandant, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, mSPSP, warmly welcomed the Brigade Commander and congratulated him on his recent appointment as Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, has reiterated its commitment to strengthening intelligence-led operations, enhancing personnel capacity through technology, and enforcing strict discipline as part of strategies to safeguard lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across Ogun State.

The State Commandant, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, mSPSP, stated this while addressing officers and men during the Command’s weekly Muster Parade held on Monday, 13th July, 2026, at the Command Headquarters Parade Ground, Owu-Dekudu, Abeokuta.
Reviewing the security situation across the State between 5th and 12th July, 2026, the State Commandant noted that Ogun State remained relatively peaceful. However, she identified persistent security threats, including kidnapping, armed robbery, illegal mining, cultism, the influx of undocumented foreign nationals, pipeline vandalism, and other acts of economic sabotage.

She expressed serious concern over the increasing cases of vandalisation of telecommunications infrastructure, power transmission cables, fibre optic cables, Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), and oil and gas installations.
According to her, these criminal activities not only disrupt essential services and business operations but also constitute significant threats to national security and economic development.

To strengthen security across the State, the Commandant directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Tactical Commanders, and Intelligence Officers to:

* Intensify intelligence gathering and confidence-building patrols in identified flashpoints.
* Scale up surveillance, stop-and-search operations, and strategic patrols along highways, pipeline corridors, and other critical infrastructure.
* Strengthen the implementation of the Safe Schools Initiative to ensure a secure learning environment for students and educational institutions.
* Intensify the protection of pipelines, electricity installations, telecommunications facilities, and other Critical National Assets and Infrastructure across the twenty Local Government Areas.
* Deepen collaboration with sister security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, vigilante groups, and other stakeholders to enhance intelligence sharing and crime prevention.

As part of efforts to improve operational efficiency, the State Commandant announced the successful completion of Map Reading and Drone Administration Training by sixteen (16) officers of the Command with the presentation of certificate to the participants.

She charged the beneficiaries to deploy the knowledge acquired in intelligence gathering, aerial surveillance, search and rescue operations, disaster management, and the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

The Commandant further disclosed that, owing to the overwhelming interest shown by personnel, arrangements are underway to organise another batch of the training.

She also congratulated Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Fadeyi Ibrahim, who was recently called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

According to her, the achievement reflects the Corps’ commitment to continuous professional development and excellence.
The State Commandant also informed personnel that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will host a two-day Stakeholders’ Engagement on 16th and 17th July, 2026, aimed at developing sustainable strategies for combating the vandalisation of telecommunications infrastructure.

Consequently, all Heads of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department were directed to participate in the programme and submit strategic recommendations upon their return.

She equally wished officers nominated for the Basic Weapon Handling, Tactics and Regimentation Course at the College of Security Management (CSM) a successful training exercise, urging them to represent Ogun State Command with discipline, professionalism, and integrity.

Considering the current rainy season, the State Commandant directed all Heads of Departments, Units, Area Commands, and Divisions to ensure that offices, barracks, armouries, and operational environments remain clean and free from overgrown vegetation.

She reiterated that discipline remains the bedrock of the Corps and reminded personnel of the need to maintain punctuality, proper dressing, respect for the chain of command, and strict compliance with the Rules of Engagement.

On personnel administration, the Commandant announced the Final Biometrics Verification Mop-Up Exercise, approved by the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, scheduled to hold between 13th and 15th July, 2026, at the National Headquarters, Abuja.

She explained that the exercise is specifically for personnel who missed previous verification exercises, those yet to receive their June salaries after verification, and officers who were away on Hajj pilgrimage.

She warned that any act of impersonation, fraudulent verification, or other forms of misconduct during the exercise would attract severe disciplinary sanctions.

The Command observed a minute’s silence in honour of a personnel of the Intelligence and Investigation Department who recently passed away.
On behalf of officers and men of the Command, Commandant Ekundayo extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

She also announced that Deputy Commandant General Adeyinka will proceed on statutory retirement in August 2026 after years of distinguished service to the Corps.

The Commandant informed personnel that a coordinating committee has been constituted to oversee goodwill contributions from officers and men who wish to honour the retiring senior officer.

In her closing remarks, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo charged all personnel to remain vigilant, intelligence-driven, disciplined, and committed to the statutory mandate of the Corps.

According to her:

“Together, we shall continue to protect lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure across Ogun State. Remain disciplined. Stay alert. Protect with integrity.”
