Ire-Akari Residents Seek Water Pipeline Extension.

The Ogun State Water Corporation Corporate Communications Team held a community engagement meeting with Ire-Akari Community Development Association at Araromi Oke-Odo, where residents formally requested the extension of potable water supply to their community.

The engagement provided an opportunity to discuss the community’s water needs, existing challenges, and possible steps toward expanding access to safe and reliable water services.

Following the successful technical assessment of the Ota Water Project by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources & Sanitation, the Special Adviser on SDGs & Water Resources to the Ogun State Governor, Hon. Damilola Otubanjo, held a strategic follow-up meeting in Abuja with the Honourable Minister for Water Resources & Sanitation, Engr. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mrs. Emanso Okop Umobong; and Directors in charge of Water Supply Services.

The high-level engagement centred on deepening collaboration between the Federal Ministry and Ogun State Government towards expanding access to clean water, strengthening water infrastructure, and promoting sustainable sanitation delivery across the state.

In a significant development, Hon. Otubanjo also secured Ogun State’s inclusion in the World Bank-supported Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (SURWASH) Programme valued at $428 million.

The SURWASH Programme is aimed at improving access to safe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services in both urban and rural communities, while also strengthening institutional capacity within the water sector.

Key components of the programme include the rehabilitation and construction of water facilities, development of water points, and enhanced support for state water agencies to ensure efficient and sustainable service delivery.

This milestone reinforces the Ogun State Government’s commitment to advancing sustainable development goals and improving the quality of life for residents through increased access to safe and reliable water services.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

This is to kindly inform our esteemed customers and residents that electrical maintenance work is currently ongoing at our Arakanga Water Scheme as part of the Corporation’s commitment to ensuring efficient operations and improved service delivery.

Due to this essential maintenance exercise, our water production, pumping, and distribution operations may experience temporary disruptions, which could affect water supply across Abeokuta and its environs.

Our technical team is working diligently to complete the maintenance work as quickly as possible and restore normal operations. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support.
