NOA Ebonyi State Empowers the Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officers to Engage and Enlighten Ebonyi citizens on 5 major thematic areas
The Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu has enjoined Nigerians to embrace government policies, programmes and activities. He made this known during press conference to flag off Nationwide Sensitisation Programme at NOA State headquarters, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The Director-General represented by the Director, Youth Engagement and Inclusion, Oyem Blessing Ngozi said the 5 thematic areas include
* Supporting government policies, programmes and activities
* Flood and Disaster Preparedness
* National Security Awareness
* National Values Reorientation (Students and Youths)
* The Nigerian Identity Project and National Symbols
Also speaking during the press conference, the State Director NOA, Ebonyi State, Nwokpor Theophilus N said the five (5) thematic areas are aimed to achieve the following;
- National Values Reorientation for Students of Secondary Schools and Tertiary Institutions Against "Sign out Extreme Practices" – This is aimed at ensuring that our young people have positive and productive behaviours by eschewing behaviours that will endanger their lives, that of their peers and other citizens at large.
- National Campaign on Flood Mitigation – With the increasing frequency of floods, this campaign seeks to enlighten communities on flood prevention and adaptive measures. This campaign involves awareness, preparedness and community engagement to reduce flood risks and enhance resilience.
- National Enlightenment Campaign on Government Policies, Programmes and Activities – This will help the citizens to better understand the programmes, policies and activities of government, hence the citizens supports what government is doing.
- National Campaign on the Nigerian Identity Project and National Symbols – This campaign is geared towards creating a cohesive Nigerian identity that transcends ethnic and religious divisions by promoting a sense of national pride and awareness of our shared identity and symbols.
- National Security Awareness Sensitization Campaign: Achieving Improved Security Consciousness in Our Communities – This campaign is designed to create an informed and proactive citizenry at all levels that collaborates with security agencies to safeguard Nigeria’s peace and stability.
The State Director informed the members of the fourth estate of the realm that the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs) has been empowered to go into the communities across all the thirteen (13) LGAs within Ebonyi State and engage all the community governance structures ranging from traditional leaders, religious leaders and groups, women, youths, town union executives and all the Community Based Organsations (CBOs) on these five (5) thematic areas.
The press conference was well attended by the media from NTA, Radio Nigeria, News Agency of Nigeria, AIT, Arise Television, Ebonyi State Broadcasting Corporation, Glorious FM, Abakaliki, etc.
