The host city of Chengdu and tournament team today unveil the official tournament logo

The inaugural Open is an World Tour 250 Series event, and one of only five ATP World Tour tournaments in Asia. The tournament will be played between September 24 and October 2, 2016 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center. With a 6000 seat Center Court, the Singles Main-Draw features a field of 28 players, whilst the Doubles Draw features 16 teams. There is also a qualifying tournament played during the first weekend, where 16 players compete for four spots in the Main Draw. The tournament features world-class ATP players (five marquee names will be announced after the Olympic Games) competing for USD 947,735 in prize money and valuable ATP ranking points. Local players are given the chance to participate through a number of wild cards in singles and doubles.

The host city of Chengdu and tournament team today unveil the official tournament logo. The logo features a (Pandas hail from Sichuan province and are a hallmark of the city) together with the spinning edges adopted from the official Chengdu city logo, feature a yellow tennis ball and a bamboo type face, which is also derived from the panda theme. The panda conveys a warm feeling of friendliness which reflects the friendly nature of the Sichuan people, an element which will be central to the event. The inclusion of the ATP 250 logo emphasizes the quality and brand ethos of the tournament being an official ATP 250 tournament.

The tournament is owned by and is organized by the Chinese Tennis Association and Chengdu Municipal Government, is co-organized by Chengdu Sports Bureau, Shuangliu District Government and Chengdu Culture Tourism Group and is promoted by Sichuan Investment International Tennis Centre Development Co., Ltd., CCTV IMG (Beijing) Sports Management Co. Ltd. and IMG Sports Development (Shanghai) Limited.

The tournament is proud to have the distinguished support from ATP World Tour’s Premier Partner Emirates and Platinum Partner Peugeot.

Chengdu Open, an ATP World Tour 250 Event, will be held from September 16 - 23, 2025 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center.

The ATP has announced the relocation of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Chengdu, China, in 2016, following ATP Board approval of the relocation request by tournament owners IMG.

The event in Chengdu will be held on outdoor hard court from 26 September – 2 October, taking place in the same week as the ATP World Tour 250 event in Shenzhen.

The venue in Chengdu boasts a modern facility with a centre court capacity of 6000, two additional show courts with 2000 seats each, and a total of 20 hard courts and 12 indoor courts. The venue has previously hosted an ATP Champions Tour event, featuring the likes of Pete Sampras, Michael Chang, Marat Safin, Carlos Moya, and many more.

Chendgu has an urban population of more than 10 million people and is renowned for being home to the giant Pandas of Chengdu.

Dear Friends of the Tournament,

The 8th edition of the Malaysian Open, Kuala Lumpur ATP 250 tournament, the sole such tennis event in South East Asia, will not take place going forward in Malaysia.

The tournament team wish to thank all parties who have contributed with such heartfelt dedication and passion in building the tournament into a world-class event that has shown the host country in the finest possible light - a definite favourite amongst the players of the ATP World Tour.

We are grateful to the government of Malaysia for their outstanding support during our tenure, to the passionate fans, highly supportive media, wonderful tournament team and our loyal and amazing commercial partners who leave a legacy that will shine bright in Asian tennis history.

We will be announcing the new home of the tournament in the next few days.
